Thank you! I’m going to use hide glue titebond to float tongue and groove solid oak over cork, thinking it will be the healthy choice as it is more natural. The wood is unfinished and will be stained with tung. At 500lbs strength, it should hold up rather well! That was key information for this uncommon situation.
In my application, electric guitar repair, I don't think it matters. The crack in the neck is forced closed by string tension so it won't ever be stressed in the opposite direction at any point. So Im thinking glue strength doesn't really matter. I plan on using hide glue so it can be reversed later if I screw up or if I want it professionally repaired at some point.
Nice test. I was wondering about the hide glue as I just used it for the first time today to glue up a rail and stile cabinet door. Not as strong as the other offerings, but should be fine. I was looking for a long assembly time in this case. Btw, that Le Blond Regal in the background brought back some memories. I used one of those daily 35 ago when I was a youngin working in a machine shop. Great lathe. 👍🏻
Nice video and tests! I'm a titebibd 2 user, though I'm more on the construction side of things with trim work and and misc wood projects where rapid glueup time is much more of a concern. I also reason that the water resistance will help with overall longevity of the joints as it will resist humidity and unforeseen moisture condition though I dont have anything to back that up. If i want a longer glueup or it is for exterior work i go with titebond 3, I generally don't use titebond 1.
Excelente video. Very precise information and comparisons. Thanks for your time in doing it and for sharing. Have you ever thought to test Gorilla glue? I've used it for a year without any problem. Actually it is very strong. Some disassembles I had to make sheared the wood not the glue.
Great video. Comprehensive and informative. Thanks for this!!
The proper old type hot hide glue is stronger than the newer cold hide glue
Yep. That cold hide glue is garbage. The hot hide glue is A+.
@@FiddleSticks800 all in all, it is more practical for some jobs.

Appreciate this video, thanks!

Looking for a glue for a guitar neck. Will go with the 3.
Good video. Excellent methodology. Maybe tighten up your edit for a little shorter presentation. Overall, this really helped me. Thank you!
Its a hard line to walk as the UA-cam algorithm really favors longer videos.

great vid but the volume is too low
You need to retune your sound I can barely hear you but the starting thing is normal volume.
Bro's face is the same color as the glue 😂
