You can feel the anguish and pain of the entire nation of Ireland in this angel's voice...RIP Dolores!
Of the whole world!
Beautifully said!
What shit are you talking lolnl
If you ever wanted to know what an angel screaming in pain sounds like, it's Dolores O' Riordan's voice on Zombie.
I’m from Northern Ireland and my generation thought the conflict was something our parents and grandparents had to endure, we thought it was behind us.
When I was 18 my friends were attacked in Belfast and the youngest one died, a few days from 16 years old. The men who stabbed my friends didn’t know them, it was a maniacal hatred that cannot be justified or understood. This song is powerful for the regret those us who grew up surrounded by The Troubles feel, our powerlessness and frustration at it all, and he lives lost.
Yeh it was a horrible time 😪😪
After all these years, and this song still gives me the goosebumps every time.
I was thinking the same. As a grownup the msg is really powerful. Something missed as a kid.
Agonia same 😭
Let's hope the reasons for its creation don't come back. Especially with this Brexit shite.
Oh My God.. I KNOW!!!!!!
Same here.
The musical genius of The Cranberries! R.I.P. Dolores 🙏🏼
This song always makes me tear up. Partly because of her voice, partly because of the story and the sadness around that war in Ireland, and of course in recent years the loss of this amazing singer Dolores O'Riorden.
Though only recently coming to proper listening through reaction videos-same here, for same reasons and all at same time.
Terrorist so called war in .....Northern Ireland . Zombies = all terrorists North & South ( since 1916 ) she sings.
@@kenmannagh7788 and in England of course but you forgot to mention that i noticed... they would be no so called terrorist if England stopped invadeing countries like Ireland and give back the countrys to the natives of that country that would be reasonable thing to do no.?
rip Dolores
@@priscillamooney1 Love your reply, I always think if it was the USA and russia had new york would the resisters terrorists.
To be an Irish teen into this scene and fed up hearing about U2 (not that they weren't great but, I was an Ansty teen) to have Delores and the cranberries burst out singing about MY world (I grew up in a border county and spent a LOT of time in the North), MY country, OUR lives was mind blowing to me and really impacted my teen life !
RIP Delores, there will never be another like you for me 🤟
Lelly T I remember visiting and staying with family in Cavan during the mid and late 80s. The ‘troubles’ were palpable, especially when heading into the north. I’m also a big fan of U2 (especially the performance recorded on Rattle and Hum the day of the Enniskillen bombing) but understand your point about over exposure and am glad other groups connected with you. Peace.
@@michaeloreilly2533 big fan of U2 also, but by the early to mid nineties they had stopped writing overtly about the Troubles like Sunday Bloody Sunday and had become more oblique like Love is Blindness, so I can see where teenagers wouldn't feel the same connection to the rage filled anti-war songs.
@@rivertam7827 I completely understand. I found my passion for their music waning after the release of The Joshua Tree. I'm not sure if this signifies a change in their creative direction or the fact that coincides with the timing of my graduation from university. I'm also happy to say the Easter Agreement significantly moved the peace process forward which alleviated the need for some of these songs.
@@michaeloreilly2533 SO you missed out on Stiff Little Fingers/ The Outcast / The Undertones
@@nudal9993 I did miss out until your comment. I just checked out the outcast and really like their sound. Thanks for turning me into them.
I should also mention I’m a big fan of the Cranberries and love how Dolores would incorporate keening into so much of their music.
R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan...🙏 A voice that can never be replaced.
@Felix Girouard Your mother, on Preston's reaction video you're here watching? oooooooooooooooooookay.
@Felix Girouard Also, tell them then how they murdered her.
Natalie Merchant comes pretty close
R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan ♥️
❤❤❤
The hard notes that are high pitched then deep are a firm of Gaelic keening, an expression of the mourning she feels for the two boys, and many other innocent people killed, that influenced her.
The world lost a great singer and artist when she passed.
CJ true
Delores O'Riordan was a truly talented vocalist, and she is greatly missed by her many friends and fans worldwide. With that being said, most of the music from The Cranberries is much softer. It was one of my favorite bands back in the early to mid 90's, partially because of their message, but mostly Her strong Irish voice! R.I.P. Delores O'Riordan!
RIP Dolores. Such an amazing voice, one that will live on, thanks to reactors sharing it for those who never had a chance to listen to the Cranberries
They are still fighting in Ireland!!
She had one of the most beautiful voices out there. It cuts deep
I can't hear her without almost breaking down to tears. Such a loss , a beautiful voice and soul gone too soon. RIP Deloris O'Rourk. We will always love you
The 90's was the golden era not just for hip/hop but for rock/metal also.
One of the best times for alternative music. Especially after following 80s rock

Love the Cranberries....all their songs are great!!!
She had such a great voice ! Always loved her music !!! R. I. P. Be Missing you
That is Deloris O'Riorden, very distinctive voice, saddly she passed away not too long ago, but will always be remembered as a great folk singer and heavy activist. Much love and respect!! Another great song if thiers, Cranberries- Dreams!
I can't believe you haven't heard this song. It's not possible.
Its absolutely posible, i go to Los Angeles last year, and the only thing that was sound in every street was reggaeton, maluma, J balvin and all that bullshit

@@obiohaz6023 jajaja no way José, are u a new born?
Of course hes heard it. Hes a millennial right? You couldnt avoid this song in the 90s. Maybe hes younger than I think though.
Le Loup I’m pretty sure people have heard of it through some form but not enough to actually really listen to it.
These are the scenes of my youth - I grew up and still live in N. Ireland. The army was everywhere, machine guns were a non-remarkable thing cos they were an every day sight. Our so-called 'peace' is still very fragile. Thank you for reacting to this, and R.I.P. Delores for giving us this song💔....it is part of our history and 'The Troubles'. It's message is overwhelming powerful.
Cranberries are the best group ever. She sings from the heart and tells us about the troubles in Ireland, and how it affected the innocent people who lost their lives. Dolores has an amazing voice and its so sad we will never hear her again, but her words and work lives on.
the 90's had amazing rock music. most of the freshest stuff ever frankly.
Yeah. I dont know what the fuck he was talking about. Love him, but that shit was silly.
Nathan Rodriguez same!!! 90’s is known for its great rock music.
For someone who didn't experience that time, or grow up with that music it's hard to put into context. I think he's just trying to wrap his head around that stuff.
@@johnsnider2956 Tool, Pantera, Korn, Slipknot, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc etc.
The list goes on and on. And he has reacted to and loved a lot of songs from that era. And he claims the music in the 90's was "okay". He knows better than that. He just said something dumb. I'm not mad. It just threw me way off.
He also said "The Wasp" had some music in the 90's. I dont know if he means the band W.A.S.P. or what. I mean, technically he's right. Although, W.A.S.P. is predominantly an 80's hair metal band.
Yea man they were great. My fav song of them. And "Linger" and "Salvation"
She had such an amazing voice. RIP!
Hello from London Derry north Ireland! I want to say thank you for watching a monumental song for our generation! I managed to live through it all and I'm so proud to be Irish!!! RIP Dolores!!! Thank you so much God bless.

@Cobb Knobbler Really? You couldn't just scroll by?
You just HAD to voice an opinion no one wanted to hear and prove to the world that you're an asshole?
Do you walk into a kids birthday party and take a shit on the cake too?
Must be sad being that pathetic.
Woah, super cool to see you react to this one. Zombie is definitely a classic.
Can you can tell me why? The chorus is the most annoying I think I ever heard.
Zes Zes Zes maybe because of the message in the lyrics. Or the technical skill Delores has in her vocals.
Now I want to see an Irish farmer straight from the bog with his reaction to the Wu-Tang Clan C.R.E.A.M.

lol
That would be fucking great!
Belter 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He appreciated the musicality of the song, but because he didn't get the political message, he missed so much about it.
wushhhhhhh straight over his head!
Yep
The thing is that if you aren't Irish you're absolutely not gonna know exactly what it's about. But the beauty of it is that the main theme of it is universal and you really don't need to know the Irish side of it to appreciate the message. I was 11 when it came out, and I liked the song without having any idea , because it's music and the most important thing is the music. :)

She was a great voice for the suffering in Northern Ireland. Great person and singer sad she isn't with us no more
Except Zombie was written about the IRA bombing in Warrington and deaths they caused.
@@RushfanUK yea and no it was written with a focus on the overall conflict and how stupid it was, between both sides regardless of views it cost the lives of many mostly civilians.
In Dolores own words.....it was about bombings and that Anyone could have died...and the deaths of the 12 and 3 year old boys touched her enough to write a song about the Troubles and bring pressure to stop the violence
simgorm As if throughout all the years of conflict they would just pick out that one instance. That makes not one ounce of sense. I think maybe that was mentioned in an interview or something and you corrupted in your own mind into it being all they were singing about. As if the other thousands of deaths in mainline Ireland didn’t matter to them
He has, it's part of the show
I love how they bring vintage Irish sound into the contemporary scene - even the nuances in her voice. Love love love it!!!!!
Her voice just reaches in and grabs your heart, knowing she’s gone makes the ache that much worse.
With this song in particular, you really DO have to listen to the whole song, and understand the story behind the song, to truly appreciate the poignancy and feel the pathos of the lyrics, as well as appreciate its stunning musicality and Dolores’s incredibly amazing and unique voice.

I am a 60 year old male, and there are times it still makes me cry. It is about the Irish/British conflict.
😮Didn't know that.. thanks Mr. Blackmore
It's referred to as "The Troubles" in Ireland.
Kautily a
If you aren’t from Ireland or Britain I wouldn’t expect you to know but your use of the shocked emoji suggest you know of the troubles and are shocked to learn the song is about the troubles, if you indeed know about the troubles then you clearly haven’t been paying attention to the song or video ever if this surprises you
@@eirebhoy132 yea i am from India and even though I knew that the song is about the war I still wasn't aware that its about the specific conflict.. good to know that.
Irish/British? As Shan G pointed out we call it "The troubles" espescially as a significant number of Irish consider themselves "British". I understand the history of these Islands is complex and sometimes confusing to an outsider but then it can be for natives too. Peace to all.
Rock music in the 90s was at it's best! RIP grunge🥰
Best point blank period! Nirvana. Bush. The Cranberries. Pearl Jam. Alice in chains. I could go on and on. In my opinion the 90's rock, especially grunge is the best music ever made period!!!

@ I was really young and living in Alaska at the time. This was the first time I'd seen the video. I had grown up hearing it on the radio. I know the history of the country now, but had never connected this song to it.
90’s music was alright? Come on my man! Easily one of the best decades of music, especially the early 90’s
Haha he doesn't realize TOOL came out in the 90s
Strangest comment from him. 90s rock was absolutely phenomenal
I totally agree! It was the last genuine decade where artists did what THEY wanted to do and screw everyone else! The last decade if real music!
He was born in the wrong Era...your mind should be Open to different music..90 was the BEST👍
It just sort of makes you realize how little he has really dabbled in when it comes to rock music. Putting a timeline to what he enjoys and doesn’t probably isn’t that easy if he really has been coming in completely blind to the rock/metal world. Forming strong opinions on entire generations after listening to a handful of songs is basically impossible. The truth is, in my experience, the 90s were absolutely dominated by rock/alternative music, so much so, I don’t think it will ever happen again. Rap wasn’t really mainstream and respected in the way it was now for much of the 90s and there seems to be so many different unique styles out there now, it’s tough to stamp stuff with a label anymore.
Sure there were the spice girls, backstreet boys, Ricky Martin and the lot of pop and boy/girl bands, but there were an infinite amount of chart topping rock bands throughout the years. Early 90s with the grunge movement and mid-90s with a little more straight-forward power chord rock songs with the catchy hooks (like bush and foo fighters) and the late 90s with some of the bands like incubus, staind, korn and even the Chili peppers making a huge comeback. And sprinkle in between a whole hell of a ton of random bands like Radiohead, nine inch nails, collective soul, Radiohead, silverchair, deftones, rage, the offspring, tool, Weezer all throughout the decade. Those are just recognizable names, there were so many bands and songs then, you could really go on and on.
I still cry every time when I listen to this song. Growing up I didn't know what the lyrics meant. I was aware of all the fighting but not to what extent as I grew up it finally dawned on me what it's about 🙏
One of the most unique voices. RIP

Whilst the Warrington bombing sparked her to write this it was about the troubles in Northern Ireland which had gone on for decades which have since been resolved. Its about killing and terrorism. The father of one of the boys publicly thanked her. She was also saying just because she is Irish she didn't agree with the violence. She was due to collaborate with Heavy band Bad Wolves which is why she was in London. Recording was due to start the day she was found dead. The Bad Wolves went ahead recording it as a tribute to her. They donated the Royalties to her three kids it's a powerful song. She will be sadly missed.

Then went on about the things in Ireland Dad had told the guy : Look I'm sure your a really nice person We can chat about anything you want long as it has nothing to do with Ireland I'm Canadian now I could care less about what go's on in Ireland I had my fill of it
Dad was happy being in Canada And thrilled to be able to get his mother in Canada 1 year after Grandmother came here Dad passed away from a heart attack in Dec of 84'

Zombie is one of those spine-chilling songs that never stops being frigid about the message it expresses. It encapsulates the horrors these people endured for years so, so well.
Since you love female voice in Rock music, you should definitely listen or do a reaction on Heart, it's a band with two sisters vocals and they have many good songs from the 80s. You can start with "These Dream", "Barracuda", "All I Wanna Do is Making To You", and "Alone".
