What definitely distinguishes Lovebites from all the influencing metal bands you have rightly mentioned is their positive attitude and this is what I really love those ladies for. Metal does not necessarily have to be dark and aggressive and leather and chains and satan and skulls and monsters. It can also be bright and uplifting and in this intensity it's the novelty that Lovebites brings to the world of music. HAPPY METAL!
Lovebites themselves openly cite a lot of influences--Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Helloween and many more. Their genius is in making the best use of all those influences. I don't know who the people are saying they are completely sui generis, but ignore those people. No artist in history has been completely original.
6:387:09 Yesss, Bro! Absolutely, sir, "Amen to that!" 😁 Lovebites remind us of untouchable masterpieces of Metal (Trash included) and let it look easy. Any untouchable masterpiece of Metal is in good hands, "taken" by them. They learned by the best, and show us the results. I would never have expected, that I would experience artists like Lovebites. What a humor of Music history! 5 young Japanese ladies as tall as their guitars, remind their audience of the masterpieces of western Metal of the 20th century. And they do it damn convincingly, and let our hearts burn.
I'm a metalhead since 1971 (I'm 63). Lovebites are the Queens of metal, period. Exodus is my favorite pure thrash band. Lovebites plays thrash better IMO.
I am seriously considering traveling from far north Texas to Atlanta next fall to witness their first US show. If they schedule a Dallas or Denver or OKC show after ProgPower then I will see them twice. They will not schedule any shows prior because ProgPower has made it a tradition to be the first US show for many, many bands. Tickets go on sale 10/21 and tickets are probably going to go very fast.
@@truebrodown I will be 63 in December and still enjoy going to shows. I have seen two really good ones this year - Nemophila in Dallas and Jinjer in Lubbock. I was right by the stage for both of them.
Years ago, I interviewed bands. Here and then I asked them to describe their music. It was always like watching Airheads (if you know you know). Except if they would grab their guitar and would really play. Master move against a printed medium. So what do I want to say, classical music still sound like classical music. Punk still sounds like punk. If it is metal, you will recognise. Nothing wrong about comparisons when talking about and nothing wrong for a band, if they just do a good job. They always deliver at top notch.
Tickets go on sale October 21st for next years show on Sept 6th. better get em fast cause they will sellout fast. Oh BTW the Dean Girl Miyako bought a 1958 Gibson Corina V guitar
Anthrax / Testament compare is OK in my book! They've taken all the great influences from the 80s, injected it with Lovebites napalm to refine it. Thank you for the reaction and they will be in your neck of the woods, Atlanta, next year. Assuming you're remotely close based on your hat. What a terrific opportunity to catch them, hopefully you don't miss out. Great reaction! 🤘
I used to be a freelance writer for the Falcons back in 2007-2011, but I've been a fan since Deion days. We live in Louisiana but I work in Mississippi. That said, Dallas is a 2 hour drive, so I'll definitely be watching for the tour. These girls brought back my favorite genre of metal with dominance!
HAMMER OF WRATH" was the second song on their first full-length album and, along with the first instrumental, "The Awakening," was often used as the opening or encore song for LOVEBITES' live shows through 2020. There are very few songs in their repertoire with solo parts for bass guitar and drums, and "HAMMER OF WRATH" is one of the few. Since this revival concert was also the first performance of a new member, FAMI (bass guitar), this song seemed to be the first song they played, as recommended by their fans.
Influences both subliminal and direct are simply a par for the course in music. Every generation builds on the achievements of the past. Those who love old school metal will definitely get off on Lovebites (unless they are blindly misogynistic) and Lovebites fans should listen to some of the comparisons that are being made and go and check out those older bands because they will probably love them too. Brilliant Rock and metal has been around since the 1970s and is safe in these girls hands for some time to come.
Totally agree bro downz. They are a product of trash, metal and precision chops by all. I would also suggest any of their music videos are excellent like Shadowmaker, when designed align or Rise. And the live counterparts to these are amazing as well. Any of the tracks from Live from the Abyss 2020 especially Burden of Time are awesome. Great reaction as always. Truth. 🤘🏼🤪🔥🥓

Heres something funny. I grew up with Zeppelin in the 70's and I avoided groups like Maiden and Anthrax like the plague. Not because they weren't good. But because of ill conceived perception of them and never really listening to them. My first exposure to any groups like them was with Megadeath in the 90's. And I loved them. Hearing you and others compare Lovebites to them, make me want to go back and listen to them now to see what I had missed.
Lovebites is like Toyota and Honda, they did not invent the automobile, trucks, etc. but they outclassed the combined Sales of Ford, GM and Chrysller worldwide.
Here's the deal. You cannot be a power metal band today and not have your influences show up in your music, you just cant do it. When I grew up in the very late 60's through the mid 80's, it was much easier for a band to sound original because there was still so much that had not been done. But today, and especially when it comes to bands from Japan who are heavily influenced by 80's metal, you're just not going to find uneffected music. What makes Lovebites so special is their level of talent, Midore and Miyako legitimately belong being mentioned in the same breath as Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, Chris Degarmo and MIchael Wilton, and other great guitar duos. They compliment each other so well, and there is no denying that corporately as well as individually they are insane players. Asami's vocal's are next level, Fami is an incredible bassists, and Haruna is an absolutely beast behind the kit. Add all that to the fact they are all very attractive women, who are feminine, and elegant, while being absolutely badass is truly original in all rock genre's.
You got it right here! The thing about LOVEBITES is that you can play the game of "guess which band influenced this song!?". In this case, the band is definitely Anthrax. I always say that for this song you could take out the ladies and put in the classic lineup of Anthrax and it would sound not only exactly the same, but like it came off of Among the Living back in 1986. In their other songs, you can easily pick out Motorhead, Judas Priest, Testament, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Yngwie Malmsteen, and others. The premise of the band is to have the vibe of classic 80s metal, so if anyone doesn't get that, they don't get the band!
I get you man. I grew up on thrash, back in the days of jean jacket patches, bullet belts and if your parents found a thrash cassette in your room they were calling an exorcist. People need to get over this idea of "influenced by" as being some kind of insult. We are all influenced by something in our lives, it doesn't mean you're a copy. Anyway, if they really knew history, they'd know being compared to Alex Skolnik and Charlie Benante isn't all that bad. What's really funny though is Miyako herself says she used to learn thrash songs by ear when she first started learning guitar at 18 (imagine, Master of Puppets was her 1st metal song she learned by ear, and I was pumped when I figured out Iron Man!). Even Tamu from Nemophila admits Dave Lombardo is an influence, again, not a bad guy to be compared to. Anyway don't know how far you guys are into Lovebites but I've listened to their entire catalogue and there's not one average song, even the ones that aren't full on thrash. I can listen to each song 5 times and pick up something new wether it's an underlying bass line, rhythm behind a solo or Haruna's master of accenting everything from vocal to the solos. One of my favorites is on Hammer Of Wrath, listen real close to that rhythm Miyako is laying down when the band goes halftime, right when Midori is doing that solo intro with the Middle Eastern feel and the toms are going. It got this funky Nuno Betttencourt feel to it. Real quick, my top 5 guitarist: Alex Skolnik, Marty Friedman, Rocky George, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Steve Vai. Great video and love that shirt!
Yesterday I watched some reactions from Lovebites and Band Maid. And I want to tell you my opinion. I really think that is a matter of taste. I am from the 60s beginning of the 70s, so prog rock is my home. Most of the bands you mentioned when trying to situate Lovebites are just names for me. Therefore, Band Maid is a group of excellent musicians that plays a kind of music that for me is more familiar, so I like them immediately. Lovebites isa group of excellent musicians that I had to learn their stile and now I appreciate them. There is a third Japanese group that are excellent musicians but they play a soft mixture of rock and happiness - but they are far far far from metal. Gacharic Spin. I do appreciate the comments both of you made, and I understand your point of view about Band Maid and Lovebites. Perhaps Unlucky Morpheus and East of Eden would suit your taste better. I notice that you made a reaction for Nemophila. Thanks for your attention.
Lovebites is coming to Atlanta, GA on Sept 6, 2024 at ProgPower festival. Are you from Atlanta Mr. Browdown? I see you are a Falcons fan. I plan to make the trip if I can get a ticket. They haven't gone on sale yet.
I've heard, and no, we are currently in Louisiana, but I work in Mississippi at present time. We would love to attend the Prog fest, but they would need to go to Dallas, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Little Rock to be in our range.
It's okay. For some reason people take comparisons or recognizing their influences as something negative. Which it isn't. Every band was influenced by someone. Hell they even have a song called "Stand and Deliver" that has heavy Motorhead influences it not even funny LOL. You should react to that one too BTW. The official video for it is on their UA-cam page.
anthrax and testament comparison is great but i think the average age of fan is young iam old 55 also fan since 1980 so i think most of them dont listen to thrash and speed metal from that time INTO THE PIT!!!
I'm sorry but I don't agree.LOVEBITES,they are themselves, they have their personal stamp and I don't think they have any comparison with anyone.and they are also one of the 20 best bands in history, that's my opinion
You're entitled to your opinion of course, but the comparisons with classic metal bands is reasonable, accurate and a massive compliment. I really can't understand why anyone would obect to such a comparison being made.
Comparing doesn't mean they are the same, just certain aspects of them are similar. Lovebites is multi-faceted and on other songs they sound like totally different bands. That's what makes them so great.
As an old 80's thrasher I love the comparison. These ladies have breathed fresh life into classic metal.
Yep - no reason why anyone should complain when LOVEBITES are compared (favourably) to some of the biggest metal acts in history.
In my opinion, Lovebites took metal to a whole new level. For me, metal was never that good.

Don't look away from the mistakes
Open your eyes, and see the truth
When lightning cracks the blackened sky
Listen to the screams of distress
It's like a bad dream but it's not
No way to get out, a living nightmare
Bring down the Hammer of Wrath
Who will be the next to burn?
God only knows the victim
Everyone knows they are innocent
All the hope is gone
In despair they pass away
There was no hope to begin with
Even the angels are giving up
Looking down on us
Will this night ever break dawn

I would never have expected, that I would experience artists like Lovebites. What a humor of Music history! 5 young Japanese ladies as tall as their guitars, remind their audience of the masterpieces of western Metal of the 20th century. And they do it damn convincingly, and let our hearts burn.
I'm a metalhead since 1971 (I'm 63). Lovebites are the Queens of metal, period. Exodus is my favorite pure thrash band. Lovebites plays thrash better IMO.
It must be me but I catch some Overkill and Metal Church in this song.
We live 2 hours from Dallas. Where are you in Texas?
@@truebrodown I am up in the Panhandle
@danw6048 right on. We are up the Red River between Texas and Arkansas.
You Americans are lucky, Lovebites will be in Atlanta in September 2024. But there will probably be no more than about 1000 tickets.🤘 🤘
Well said ! These girls channeled the top Bands from each Metal Genre and made it their own - whats not to like about that !?
Lovebites create their own beautiful metal sound with many influences, including non metal/rock genres. Respect. thanks for the good comments guys👍🥰🤘
We Are Baaaaaaaaack!!! That's what she said.
Wolfpack here visiting your channel.
Welcome! Stick around, we are wolf cubs currently.
They may sound similar to some other bands, but they sure do look a whole lot better
Agreed. These ladies smokin' hot.
LOVEBITES 🐺 INCREDIBLE
Influences both subliminal and direct are simply a par for the course in music. Every generation builds on the achievements of the past. Those who love old school metal will definitely get off on Lovebites (unless they are blindly misogynistic) and Lovebites fans should listen to some of the comparisons that are being made and go and check out those older bands because they will probably love them too. Brilliant Rock and metal has been around since the 1970s and is safe in these girls hands for some time to come.
2 of Midoris idols are Yngwie Malmsteen and Nino Bettencourt who appeared at their Tokyo concert recently she got to pose with him ]:)
Truth. 🤘🏼🤪🔥🥓
" Winds of Transylvania ! ". Live .......... It's a little older , but worth a Listen ..... Don't be " Scared ! "
Mıyako the dean gırl, they call her the golden touch i call her a genıus she plays guitar 🎸 pıano 🎹 keytar bass and some drums she wrıtes and compose theır songs wıth Adamı the sınger
Haha. you forgot to compare them to Metal Goddesses!!!!
The other three songs from this concert show their diversity of music.
Nameless Warrior...The Drummer, Haruna, goes Beast Mode
Judgement Day, Fami gets some more shine from the band.
Liar, Asami in beginning gives loving surprise, while Miyako shows more guitar skills.
All four songs, all different and unique, all are pure awesomeness!!!
There is no need to compare. They ARE the metal Goddesses. No all female band can compete with them.
@@truebrodown You might already know, but they will be in the states next year!! So far, the only date announced is Sept. 5th, 2024 in Atlanta at the ProgPowerUSA Festival as the 2nd Headliner. Hopefully they will be at other parts of the country. But they are finally making their way here!!!
@@davidtormaschy9988 Lovebites plays on Sept 6.
1:47 "We ... are .. baaaaaaaaaaack!" 😄A shout of victory and relief. First live show after 2 years of hiatus. With things sorted out. And with their _new bass player_ *Fami* . And with new power, never known before. 😁
Ready for take-off. 😁 🐺
Judging by that falcons hat you're wearing. We will envy You in September of 2024. Considering somebody's first u.s. show is going to be there in ATL . Hopefully after they take their trip to Atlanta may come down here to Florida to give us some shows who knows.
Greta reaction. I agree with the comparison to Testament's 'Over the Wall.' Very similar.
🤘🏻🔥🐺🔥🤘🏻GOOOOO‼️
Thank you, great comment, you educated me how trash is, carry on bro, give me your best comment always, they're the best, no doubt. 👍👍👌
tHrash not trash - don't forget the H.
Sure hope they are gonna play Canada
Please more of Lovebites
We are back . It's In English lol 😆
🤘🏽LOVEBITES RULES🤘🏽
All bands have influences and as long as they are compared to something good, comparisons are never a bad thing. You don't say copies, after all 🙂
Miyako is Far From Being Bored... 🩷🐺🩷🐺🩷🐺🩷🐺🩷🐺🔥🔥🔥
After that intro, I'm left sittin' here on a Friday night with a nice, big black eye. Thanks, jackass.
🤘
And they all openly admit to being influenced by legends that have gone before them.
anthrax and testament comparison is great but i think the average age of fan is young iam old 55 also fan since 1980 so i think most of them dont listen to thrash and speed metal from that time INTO THE PIT!!!
The live stuff is better.
