So this setup has been on for 2 oil changes about (7k miles). I have emptied 2 ounces of oil from the unit after the 2nd oil change. I have not noticed any difference in performance, idling or any other issues related to the install of this unit or with the usage of this unit over the past 11 month. By installing this unit I have prevented 2 ounces of oil from entering the turbo system of the car. I would recommend an install on this vehicle due to the amount of oil that could potentially enter the system. If you have a clogged PCV system i recommend repairing the clogged PCV then install this system. This is not a complete delete for the stock PCV system. By installing the unit as i have in this video it prevents you from having to damage or cut any factory pipes. If you ever decide to remove the catch can you can without any issues.

Thank you so much for making this video. I have been researching a catch can setup for my 07 s60r and was reading some forums on Swedespeed about how it could affect how the car runs. Some people were talking about how it could cause some issues and whatnot. Have you noticed anything related with the car’s function like rough start or bouncing idle? Also I was wondering if I could get away with installing one even if my PCV system is already clogged. In other words is this a complete pcv system delete or does it still use some hoses that are connected to the existing pcv system that would need cleaned or replaced to recycle the blow by. Thanks again for the informative video!

I would definitely replace the current PCV system and then install this catch can. Installing this item is a lot like asking what oil should use? Now some people swear by synthetic and others by conventional. Some say royal purple can help with performance and amsoil will help with engine life. In the end if a system is relatively cheap and it can help increase engine life it is a GO. We want our cars to last a long time so we can enjoy them, so installing a unit like I have, has for me, removed a significant amount of oil from entering my turbo system. I would assume that if 2 oz of oil has been collected over roughly 7k miles then it would be safe to say that if i drove the car for another 112,000 miles i will have collected a quart of oil. Could you imagine how a car would run with a quart of oil poured into the turbo system. Now granted i know some will burn off due to turbo heat but some will still make it into the system. By installing the unit like i have it prevents having to cut or modify any factory hoses.

Thank you for the informative video. Now that it's been installed for around 10 months, is it worth it? any updates? how often do you empty the can? and most importantly, did you feel any difference driving the car? and how is the performance of the car? (so many questions ^_^)

Preventing 2 oz of oil from entering the system makes it well worth the $$, I have emptied the can once after my 2nd oil change about 7k miles, I haven't noticed any difference positive or negative from installing the catch can, however im sure if you researched a bit more into the system on my car you could notice a difference in longetative, a very small change in MPG and a better running car all around. By preventing oil from entering the turbo system, you can prevent your intercooler from collecting oil and even extend the life of a turbo compressor as well as lower your IAT and improve your fuel quality. When raw oil is introduced with fuel into the combustion chamber it makes valves sticky, shortens the life of plugs, and can cause excess wear to the pistons, head, and over lubricate the rings damaging cylinder walls. I run 19-20 psi on my car and i have a stage 2 tune from hilton along with several upgrades including full snabb intake, big volvo intercooler, CBV block off, racing DP, a full touring exhaust system and a few other upgrades. With all of these upgrades im very unsure to what level of improvement the catch can could do in the performance area, however keeping the same in mind i could currently have an item installed that negatively affects the system and i wouldn't know. But in short i believe the catch can has been 100% positive addition to my car's setup. If you have anymore questions just ask.

No disrespect, oil in your intake, does nothing to the octane rating of your fuel. Also, there is no turbocharged engine in the world that dosen't have a little oil in the charge air plumbing. Every single factory service manual will specify this. The factory Volvo flame trap/PVC box is a self-draining catch can. The banjo bolt that threads into the bottom of the intake is notorious for plugging up, and can only be removed by removing the intake, or alternator. I have found that the most common issue with these, as it is heated by coolant to prevent freezing in cold weather, and it cokes the oil in it. Otherwise not a bad vid, although if your not familiar with Volvo engines, this will make you hate them.

What would you think about hiding a catch can under the "beauty cover"?

I did, however the setup looks very good and the install was very clean. I have taken it to the dealership several times and after 4 visits to the same mechanic at the Volvo dealership he stated that he just noticed the catch can. I do enjoy when the engine bay looks un touched but sometimes it just nice to leave subtle clues.

Honestly I have collected about 2qts of oil over the last 2+ year so I assume it has saved a lot of future issues
