Such a peaceful beautiful place. Manicured lawns, pretty flowers, very well cared for. But yet you hear of stories like this one and you look again at the exterior of what's presented very well knowing not everything you see on the outside is true to be the same on the inside. Beautiful lawns don't mean the grounds are not sour. This story is a prime example of such. Thank you for telling these stories with such care and respect. What an amazing story, and so very sad. How negligent of the first ones to investigate, they would have found the body right away if they'd searched the basement. They felt it was unnecessary because it involved priests and nuns. That was their mistake, to automatically assume there could be no foul play.

A very suspenseful story and SO interesting!! I worked for a tree nursery in my teens for family friends and we use to go to every cemetery in PA, I think!!! We would have to find the correct stones & lay on grave sprays or wreaths or whatever & we were so busy selling Christmas trees & etc. that it seemed like we always got stuck out there until 2 or 3am putting on these pine decos with our flashlights yelling “Hey guys I found it!!! It’s over here!” Haha! So cemeteries are kinda normal to me..and they bring back loving memories of my family friends. They’ve all passed now & Im your age, just about. But these stories just fascinate me every time. Thank you!

What a sad story with beautiful music. The church continues to "cover up" and priests having affairs/relationships is an age old story. The nun suffered and the housekeeper was allowed to walk free eventually. What an injustice! Please continue with your stories, Ron, I am slowly progressing through them. Stay safe and keep well.

Fascinating Ron as usual, listening to the story as you walk through the grass that crunches under your shoes & the rushing leaves in the wind 💨 make it relaxing as you tell this sad story I feel I am watching a good movie ,but of course it's not it's real .I am not a believer in any form of Religion .I went to Catholic schools & convert as a young girl & found that nuns were very cruel & when it was time for the Priests to visit &they entered the classroom the temperament of the nuns changed like school girls blushing from just seeing the Priest , imagine as child I noticed this & thought they were scared but I don't thing that was it ,lets not forget these are humans & don't carry special gifts or powers from above we must realistic that even the ones who believe, commit bad things .I remember as child hearing my parents talk about a Priest that was in our Parish actually where we went to school ,was sent away from there & all because he was having an affair with a lady that lived in house near the church the Priest would visit her whilst her husband worked at night....... he actually baptised me as a baby , so there you go human behaviour no matter who you are ,but some have decency & some do not .Once again brilliant stories of people’s lives Thank you .

I am from Michigan. Oddly... not a lot of people know of the basement nun. Traverse City is beautiful, as is its neighbor, Kalkaska. I'm glad you did this story. My grandmother said that her brother had to dig the basement of an old Catholic Church & found a mass grave of baby skeletons. After doing so he never wanted anything to do with religion or even God because of how horrific it was… thank you for sharing 🤗
Could it be that because they died of natural causes before they could be baptized that was only way they could be buried on concentrated ground?if it was done secretly?
Be careful about judging what you don't know. In the old days you had to be baptized in order to be buried I concentrated ground.( There were a few other things too)this was the only way a stillborn or a baby that died before it could be baptized could be buried in concentrated ground.

Fairly new subscriber I’m binge watching your excellent content.I love how you are so respectful & the amount of research you do is amazing.This was a particularly sad story that I totally believe & not much has changed unfortunately in the Catholic Church,I say that as a Catholic myself regretfully.
What a sad story with beautiful music. The church continues to "cover up" and priests having affairs/relationships is an age old story. The nun suffered and the housekeeper was allowed to walk free eventually. What an injustice!

Fascinating Ron as usual, listening to the story as you walk through the grass that crunches under your shoes & the rushing leaves in the wind 💨 make it relaxing as you tell this sad story I feel I am watching a good movie ,but of course it's not it's real .I am not a believer in any form of Religion .I went to Catholic schools & convert as a young girl & found that nuns were very cruel & when it was time for the Priests to visit &they entered the classroom the temperament of the nuns changed like school girls blushing from just seeing the Priest , imagine as child I noticed this & thought they were scared but I don't thing that was it ,lets not forget these are humans & don't carry special gifts or powers from above we must realistic that even the ones who believe, commit bad things .I remember as child hearing my parents talk about a Priest that was in our Parish actually where we went to school ,was sent away from there & all because he was having an affair with a lady that lived in house near the church the Priest would visit her whilst her husband worked at night....... he actually baptised me as a baby , so there you go human behaviour no matter who you are ,but some have decency & some do not .Once again brilliant stories of people’s lives Thank you .

Thank you, Ron, for a sad but story that needs to be told. So sad that Sister was without immediate family, had such a horrible life, even a fetus, too. Unbelievable what happened here, but still happening today.

I am from Michigan. Oddly... not a lot of people know of the basement nun. Traverse City is beautiful, as is its neighbor, Kalkaska. I'm glad you did this story. People need to know about things like this and forgotten people that mattered to someone. No huge impact on the world, but the held impact for those who knew/loved them. Wonderful video. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful cemetery. This story is very Erie and interesting. It does sound jealousy did play a role in her murder.

So sad for the nun and her baby rest in peace such tradey in her up bringing to mum in a mental illness and to brrougt by your parent given to the nun place she felt she was a ophan given up by her dad she must felt lonely

My grandmother said that her brother had to dig the basement of an old Catholic Church & found a mass grave of baby skeletons. After doing so he never wanted anything to do with religion or even God because of how horrific it was… thank you for sharing 🤗

Could it be that because they died of natural causes before they could be baptized that was only way they could be buried on concentrated ground?if it was done secretly?
Be careful about judging what you don't know. In the old days you had to be baptized in order to be buried I concentrated ground.( There were a few other things too)this was the only way a stillborn or a baby that died before it could be baptized could be buried in concentrated ground.
