Well Being an Irish itself makes us proud.. and this music Lord Almighty :D.. always puts smile on my face.... GOD Bless Our Ireland and Her Beauty... Happy St. Paddy's day all ya ....

Happy St. Patrick's Day:). We are all Irish Today, even though I am not Irish. I just love watching all those travel logs on Ireland with the green grass overlooking the ocean and a sheep grazing. Love this music!!! Irish Jigs are so happy and fun:)!
Compilation of traditional Irish music recorded in Belfast mainly in the 1970s and 1980s by the now defunct "Outlet" label, run by the late Billy Burnie, I believe, who deserves a lot of credit for making these recordings at a time when it was a very difficult commercial proposition to do so.
Thanks for the information. I'm an Irish American lifelong fan of trad, as I was exposed to it a lot as a kid. Sometimes hard to get informed background on the recordings, music an artists.
@@brianmccarthy5557 Hi Brian - you're welcome, always happy to spread information. You - and anyone else with an interest in Irish traditional music - might be interested to know that many of the "Outlet" catalogue recordings made by several of the musicians in the list above are available for download very cheaply on "iTunes".
Filipe Rodrigues i was raisedon irish music in England' oxford . my mother danced all the time . after work . fixn salmon for dinner . & glass brandy cigg ' play darts till 4-am. . strong irish. accent . she was named the 'irish rose of Connammara* ireland . her family home still stands to this very day. farm had cattle property went down to the shore . to salmon fish N. you can see Donegal .mntn. from her farm home .
If you go to folk clubs and festivals in England you would hear lots of good tunes and songs and then realise that a lot of Irish songs and tunes are in fact old English folk tunes and songs
@patriciajensen1541 oh wow incredible memories for you then sorry it's taken many years urm not sure how I missed everyone's replies. Your mother rocked!
a hundred pound sterling to the first man who is able to listen to this whole album without going absolutely out of his mind while doing so hahahahahahahahhahaha i tried last night and I just woke up with...well...such a hangover...not from drinking...just from listening to this album...let me know yo if you have ever listened to all three hours
Beautiful shiny gems. However the bulk (75-90%) of these tunes were once part of an improvised Gaelic oral tradition. These old lyrical songs were then simplified during persecution and the break up of musical orders, into tunes which could be written down and more simply understood for dances. Going even further as the music was taken out of the context of language once valid techniques and sections to melodies are relegated to become mere ornament tricks to layer on to simplified written tunes. Sheet music etc. even reels and jigs are all after affects of the music being assimilated, diluted and simplified away from its original form. Long story short the character, definition and texture of these tunes is drastically dependent on the musicians melodic understanding of Gaelic music and language. I feel this music is especially sensitive to sounding not nearly as good if the rhythms and tempos, key notes and pauses are inaccurate or sped up, this is mainly because its been changed from its original form so much already. If a few of these tunes were changed any more they would be just a repetitive jumble of notes. The true character of Irish tunes is usually more evident in airs because they haven't been as altered as much as in dance tunes have and are hardly written down to be sung. This is lyrical swinging music with great sensitivity to subtle breaths of rhythm and melody the way tunes are played all timed, divided and monotone nowadays literally invalidates this chief quality. Like its cousin Sean nos singing tunes should mean "A good performance classically involves substantial ornament and rhythmic variations from verse to verse."

@@annemouse6788 seriously? Blue Grass is a bastardized version of American "roots" music which is derivitive of Irish, Scottish and Breton music. Blue Grass is un-authentic except as a salable commodity.
