The Miterdale Round // The Lake District
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- Follow Finn and me as we set off from the wild and remote valley of Miterdale; heading for Illgill Head and the breath-taking views of Wasdale!
We pass through stunning woodland, over expansive fell-sides and boggy moorland on our quest to see Britain's favourite view, which includes the majestic Great Gable and a glimpse of Scafell Pike; England's highest mountain. And along the way we find stone circles dating back 4000 years in this quiet corner of our beloved Lakeland.

It’s really helpful when you label the promentaries like this Glen.
Absolutely stunning views throughout especially Wastwater and the surrounding fells. Being a keen photographer myself i am so impressed with your photos.
Amazing, and you could see how much Finn loved it 🤍⛰🤍
It's been a long time since I've heard the expression Doolally tap ( going out of ones mind because of fever ) Miterdale has that affect on you, clearly, it's outstanding. I love the forest and then the stunning views over Wass water, not forgetting the stone circles and much more. Brilliant! Thank you.
Brilliant vlog. Brought back memories from i did the exact same route in 2005...long hike in November. We got back to the car just in almost darkness. Stayed the night at the Bower House Inn in Eskdale sat in front of the open fire drinking Moorhouses Blonde Witch...happy days. I want to go back there now. Keep up the good work.
This one’s my absolute favourite. 👻
Bringing back lots of memories with your brilliant videos and way better photos than I ever took. Keep them coming please. Cheers
Another beautiful vlog and another very entertaining commentary - 'I do like backsides' made me laugh, as did 'Finncam' and 'guard cows'. Thanks for sharing.
Love this walk, so many different features and views..
Absolutely stunning
Bucket list added to. Stunning art !
Thank you very much 😊
Another belter mate love your passion and enthusesm on these rambles. Your knoledge of the surrounding fells. Love dog to. Rave on!!
Thank you 😊
Fantastic! Enjoyed that, watched it twice while stewing some apples! Definitely like the idea of a Finn cam! 👍 👍 👍
Thanks very much Will, how were the apples?
@@BlackCrag brilliant thanks 😀
I'm addicted to your Vlogs. Brilliant👍 Thinking of doing this route as we're staying at Nether wasdale in August🤘
Sensational documentary! Congratulations! 👏👏👏👏

Love this video! Those circles are fascinating and the views spectacular! I’d love to do this walk! 🍀
Another fantastic video Glen, really enjoyed watching and one for us to do soon.
Thanks very much 😊 I can highly recommend it 🙌
Absolutely stunning, great vlog. Wasdale is one of my favourite places. 👍🏻
Great Vlog !! I've discovered you during lockdown and there's some brilliant routes you've done which showcase some of the lesser known areas of the Lakes - still as beautiful though! I suppose it does help you're a damn fine photographer. Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks so much, that's very kind 😊 🙏
Wow amazing photography and stunning views. That one is now added to the list of hikes I’ll be doing in September when I visit!!! And yes can we have a Finn cam please 🤩. Loving the vloggs
Thanks very much 😊
Spot on thanks 👍
Thank you 😊
Just found your channel. Love it. Got a bit of catching up to do 😎👍

Another great vlog and superb photography, Finn cam would put another great view of the Lake District.

+1 for FinnCam! Damn right! That'd be awesome!
Haha, thanks.... I'm working on it 😊
Great video mate, maybe a walk for the future
Thanks very much 😊 🙏 Highly recommended 👌
Sure is beautiful there! Thanks for sharing
Thanks very much 😊 🙏
@@BlackCrag no problem. We really enjoy making outdoor content also
Wow, amazing scenery, definitely on our must do list. The drone footage was beautiful. And please please make 'finncam' happen!
Thanks so much guys 😊
Hi Glenn, Only one comment. Can you give the distances in miles not km. I think most visitors use the old system. I've watched nearly all of your Lakes vlogs. I'm 72 and have been visiting the Lakes for 58 yrs & its great to see some of the walks that love completed over the years. Keep up the brilliant work. Pete Phillips.
I'll try to remember to add that in the descriptions. The map will be in km though as it's either/or, not both. If that makes sense.
Another excellent video - keep em coming!
PS
I really need to order myself another "semi-lock-down-still-working-from-home present" - so get those Black Crag T shirts online :-)
PPS
Also you mentioned may be doing Lords Rake - well my favourite route of all time is Wasdle Head - Lords Rake - Scafell - Foxes Tarn - Mickledore Col - Scafell Pike - Lingmell - Wasdale - I did it even before they invented chockstones! :-)
Thanks very much......this comment inspired me to do that exact route 😊 T-shirts will be coming at some point
Perfect Sunday evening....G & T & a new Black Crag video! 😃
Yewbarrow looks amazing, its one on my most fave hikes....full of surprises! Couldn't take my eyes off her in drone footage!
Love Lingmell too....will never forget the drama of piers gill from that summit!
Loved this vlog, want to do it on a similar weather day to this. If Finny's little legs can do it....mine sure can!
Nice work....as usual!
😍🙂👌
Thanks so much, really appreciate you watching 😊 Lingmell is a favourite of mine too, such a beauty 😍
OMG! Absolutely fabulous as ever! I love your videos so much!
Thank you so much, that means a lot 😊
Stunning! And I love Finn!
Top views captured , great video made my night thanks mate .
Thanks very much 😊
Terrific vlog Glenn. Really pleased you got lucky with the weather as it certainly showed the Lakes at its best.
Thanks very much mate 😊 👊
This will certainly be on my list next time I’m in the lakes, great vlog 👍
Thank you 😊 you'll definitely enjoy it 👌
Another great walk. Love the photos and the second camera angles. Really shows the views off. Have you thought about getting the Peak Design camera clip? I have an A7ii with 70-300 and wear it on the clip all the way. Saves missing those shots. We like the shots. Haha 😆
Thanks very much Rob 😊 I do have a PD clip and liked it but.....and there's always a but.....I found when I took my bag off I suddenly didn't have anywhere to put my camera to free up my hands. So I went back to the trusty Spider Holster😁
Another stunning walk to add to my bucket list Glenn 😍
Awesome as always 👌. Love your Drone clips it the type of shots I aspire to 🙂.
Thanks fella, really appreciate it 😊 🙏
Outstanding work fella...it's on the to do list!
Beautiful!! Stunning shots!!
Thanks so much 😊
1 for the Xmas hols I think 👍
Yes! That would be amazing, especially if we get snow 🤞
Great vlog as always. That opening shot was so cool
Thank you, massively appreciated 😊
Great video, definitely a route to add to the list
Thanks for watching Ed, appreciate it 😊 🙏
Loved this! Really loving the drone footage, especially as you don't go over the top with it like some can. It really does give another element of professionalism.
Thanks so much mate, really appreciate that 😊🙏
@@BlackCrag How funny is this mate? My (now) 10 year old was bored watching something on TV. I said, "here, I've something for you to watch." I went to the UA-cam app on the TV and she said "what, on UA-cam? Is it Black Crag?! I saw Glenn had posted a new video but I've not seen it yet." Well, she's watching it now 😂
@@beardedwarrior7023 Aaw, that's fantastic! Of all the things to want to watch 😊🙌
@@BlackCrag Obviously got taste, like her old man 😉
Done a very similar route to this last Wednesday, great walk with awesome view's, stayed at Eskdale so really explored the local area, great video with amazing drone footage 😀
Thanks very much mate, massively appreciated. Eskdale is a wonderful place 😍
You got me again Glen! That drop, broken rib 🤢 I absolutely adore your videos! I’ve been saying to Mikey about going to Illgill head but this route I’d be hard pushed to get past that wonderful woodland at Miterdale. I hope one day we get to walk to talk. Great vlog!
Thanks very much Mali, means a lot mate 😊 I can highly recommend this route 👌
Fantastic. Loving all of your walks. What breed is Fin?
Stunning. What time of year was this?
Well done, Sir! 👍
Thank you kindly!
Proper enjoy these vlogs. Just wondering are you using the Insta 360 one x. I've got the camera but don't tend to use it that often. Might start using as it offers a really good perspective.
camped on illgill head a few week ago.. awesome views and never saw a soul..... all up sca fell with the millions lol
I day dreamed of camping there the other week, bet it was fantastic 😍
@@BlackCrag one of the best I've done mate. The sunset over Sellafield is incredible and then the sunrise over the Scafells make for amazing pics. Hope you get to do it. ATB Sean.
That sky over Blea tarn! Speaking of which... Why are so many names re-used?!
Is that a private lodge or is it for the public?
Amazing as always!! Can I ask is the selfie stick and video camera an insta 360? If not I'd love a link to maybe look at purchasing 1 thanks in advance. ⛰
Thank you 😊 Yes, it's an Insta 360 👍
Top notch Glen 👌
Definitely a hike we'd like to do. However when I try to export the following shows up -
"Item does not exist, requires subscription or is marked as private."
Thanks...
Thanks very much 😊🙏 That's weird, is that from your phone and are you trying to open it in the OS maps app or a browser?
@@BlackCrag The same happened to me when I tried to check the route today. I was doing it on my browser and I have a subscription so not sure why it didn't work.
OK, I'm an idiot! I thought I'd set the map to public but actually hadn't..... Sorry. Please try now 🙈🤞
@@BlackCrag Sorted buddy. Many thanks
Hi 👋🏻 I’ve followed a fair few of your vlogs, they’re great keep up the great work on them. I’ve noticed you do tend to say what the going is like ‘underfoot’, any chance you could tell me on this one what it’s like on the ‘knees’ is it hard going? I have a tendency to love to do these hikes and part way round some of them I find I’ve sore knees, probably because of the steep climbs or descents. Any chance you can throw this kind of info in to your descriptions? Please. Thanks. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching 😊 There are some steep sections on this walk. They can be seen on the OS route map. Knee pain can be caused by so many things but I've had it in the past too. Personally I find that it's usually because things have tightened up around the knee after the ascent and resting at the top. Going down used to be excruciating but warming back up (walking for a few mins) and then doing some simple leg stretches pretty much eliminates the issue for me now.
@@BlackCrag Thanks for the reply, i've noticed on the OS map the route you took there are some sections looking fairly steep. I'm sure i'd be ok with them tbh, as i've done a few routes like Helvellyn and Coniston Old Man which more likely will be steeper from what i can tell. Thanks again for vlogs they're great.
