ever since I switched to wholefood keto no preservatives/ sugars diet my mental health, attention span, social skills and life performance have been so much better. literally felt like I was getting grey matter back
No, it cannot, but there is evidence that serotonin produced in the gut might still affect the brain both directly and indirectly. For example, it could affect vagus nerve signaling or affect the availability of tryptophan for serotonin synthesis in the brain.
Am I the only one who wonders how large and how specific these effects can be? Any predictable direction?🧐Well, it is not a big news that all of the body influences brain function - through peripheral nerve activity, blood biochemistry. Everything is interconnected. Mood, chance for that behavior or other. Seems to me these gut studies in the news last year... Just try to measure more precisely some body effects we suspected for a hundred years already, just in a vague way. So no, gut does not control our behavior, but has some slight effects on it 🙂
There is still a lot to figure out in terms of the specificity of effects, as well as the clinical relevance. But to me it's a little more surprising than the general consideration that "everything is interconnected" to think that the microorganisms that live in our gut might have an influence on brain function. And, it's important to get clarity on since our diets can affect the composition of our gut microbiota. So while the relevance of the gut-brain axis to our everyday lives is still very far from clear, I think it's a worthwhile area of research to understand.
The one thing missing is the feedback loop. When I eat something sweet, my body then goes and checks to see if it actually is sweet. This affects how I respond tye next time I see this item,

Keto is a flawed diet, except for a few people such as those who have epilepsy.
Gut-brain axis sound like a faction from a weird Hoi 4 mod.
Never tought i whould find a hoi 4 fan on this channel haha
Gut feeling is real.
Serotonin produced in the intestine from various bacteria and the argentaffin cell can actually pass the blood brain barrier?

I like to tell my students to feed their bacteria with cellulose to maintain gut-brain axis also 😺
our gut microbiota cant metabolize cellulose tho right?
@@OperaGX-fw7rh It can.
ie you are what you eat 😊

I would like to thank you very much. I am about to study this topic because I have an exam and this is one of the topics in it. 😭🤧🫶🏻
I’m glad the timing worked out! Good luck on your exam!
@neurochallenged Thx💗
