    I have this bike since February and I love it. I went for the manual version with quickshifter on it and a comfy seat which feels amazing on the long rides. The dual screen thing comes in handy when displaying the navigation using android auto / apple carplay. The only downside to this bike is that it has a chain drive, but considering the price you can't really complain. Otherwise it's a great bike for touring, and if You want to goof around, just take the side cases off and go for it. I was considering Versys 1000 or Triumph Tiger 900 GT, but Honda was more modern than Kawasaki, had longer service intervals (12000km) than the Triumph, and came with side cases as standard all while costing less than both (at least in Poland where i live). To me it was a no brainer :)

    I tested this bike before acquiring my 1250 RS. No actual criticism towards the NT but I didn’t feel any specific thrill about it. Still, a practical solution for everyday use and touring, honest price, just lacking the emotional side that I needed for a bike to really desire to ride it. Thanks for the review, really honest and complete as usual ✌️

      @@TimmyTookaLookHi, I have an NT1100 and I think the 2 screen solution is brilliant. I toggle between Android Auto (which I now use 80% of the time). I wish the lower screen would show the fuel guage and not just a warning light. I also would like to see the gear position displayed in the lower screen too and not the gear "mode" (sp II). Again 'in practice' the 2 screen solution is really clever.

    Why does the dct get criticized but not the quick shifter ?

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  10 місяців тому

      Probably because they haven’t tried the DCT, who knows. I’d still go for manual with QS though.

    • @sunrisejak2709
      @sunrisejak2709 9 місяців тому +3

      @@DSR1YT The DCT shift is significantly better than a gear change even with a QS. The quick shifter merely cuts ignition but the mechanical changing of the gear is conventional. Shift forks, moving gears etc. The DCT with 2 clutches merely "toggles between 2 clutches which is substantially faster and smoother as the next gear is already engaged. It's just the change from one clutch to the other which is milliseconds. A DCT gear change will always be smoother, faster, and more efficient than a manual change with QS. Plus the paddles on DCT allow for quick enhancements to augment to auto gear change if you feel a downshift is in order or a gear is being held too long. I've had 22 motorcycles over the past 25 years and now I'm a DCT convert. My riding is faster, smoother, and I can put more attention elsewhere. But it's common that there seems to be very little middle ground. Either folks love it or they leave it. Honda now has me as a "captive customer" as DCT is exclusive to them. I had an XADV with DCT and now the NT1100. DCT,,, where have you been all my life! 🤣

      Almost all performance vehicles have gone away from the archaic method of manually changing gears. Technology has just made it better with DCT. Drive a Porsche with Tiptronic or an Audi R8 with DCT and they demolish manual gearbox counterparts. The pinnacle of motorsport Formula One hasn't used a manual gearbox for decades. With my NT1100 I'm faster, smoother, my passenger likes it better and my attention is now easily diverted elsewhere. DCT when exploited properly is amazing. Squeezing a lever with my left hand, and kicking a lever with my toe is not much different than pulling on some reigns and kicking a horse. If with DCT you want control just put it in manual and a tap with your forefinger and thumb is far superior and results in much better gear changes. However if you enjoy manually shifting gears honestly that's cool. Knock yourself out. 😊 But its an inferior way to put power to the ground through a transmission.

      Without reading the cycling bylaws. I’m sure it says something along the lines of “ they should be single file where possible. Only doubling up for tighter corners “
      I’ve know doubt someone will correct me for being wrong. As stated. I don’t know the exact rules. And I’m not going to search them up. I just know cyclists do my head in 😁

      Haha. Always love a controversial view me 😉. I tend to say what others are thinking but don’t want to say. Neanderthal brain over here 🤣
