Suriano is a great fighter but is in the thick of it now. All those college kids will seem like cream puffs now that he is in international competition. He will need to take his game to the next level. It's had to imagine how wrestlers like Jordan and Snyder were at that level right out of college. Other great college wrestlers that seem invincible, like Metcalf and Nickles, couldn't make the switch. I hope Suriano can.

Call it like it is. Nick’s opponent had solid skills and easily outclassed Nick. Nick was moving a lot but his movements were inefficient and ineffective. This guy was smooth and skillful. Nick has a hardcore attitude but he isn’t slick. This guy wrestled much better on the outside and had a solid front headlock/transition game. Nick needs serious technical work if he wants to win a national freestyle title. Not hating. I’m his fan. He simply got exposed here. I hope he improves.

Suriano was awesome in high school. I think once Fix beat him in the super32 and Gilman waxed him at Penn State he just sort of gave up. He did beat Glory but the match against Fix was a referee error. He was always very strong for his weight class and at the peak of endurance. Once he got to college level he kept running into fit and strong technicians.

In freestyle, you earn 2 points for turning your opponent beyond 90 degrees to expose their back to the mat (you do not have to hold them in that position like you do in folkstyle). After the 2 pt takedown, TUR executed a gut wrench to roll Suriano and expose his back two times for a total of 4 more pts.
