Anyone that can score like that on Suriano is a total beast I would imagine that guy could easily be a world gold medalist! I’m not familiar with really anyone who isn’t American that does good tbh!
Suriano is a great fighter but is in the thick of it now. All those college kids will seem like cream puffs now that he is in international competition. He will need to take his game to the next level. It's had to imagine how wrestlers like Jordan and Snyder were at that level right out of college. Other great college wrestlers that seem invincible, like Metcalf and Nickles, couldn't make the switch. I hope Suriano can.
I remember when David Taylor first went into world class freestyle. He got his butt kicked too. But it sure didn't stay that way. Give Suriano some time.
Call it like it is. Nick’s opponent had solid skills and easily outclassed Nick. Nick was moving a lot but his movements were inefficient and ineffective. This guy was smooth and skillful. Nick has a hardcore attitude but he isn’t slick. This guy wrestled much better on the outside and had a solid front headlock/transition game. Nick needs serious technical work if he wants to win a national freestyle title. Not hating. I’m his fan. He simply got exposed here. I hope he improves.
Suriano was awesome in high school. I think once Fix beat him in the super32 and Gilman waxed him at Penn State he just sort of gave up. He did beat Glory but the match against Fix was a referee error. He was always very strong for his weight class and at the peak of endurance. Once he got to college level he kept running into fit and strong technicians.
@@michaellincoln2117 Yes he was! Just not an NCAA champion. He was 3 years older than Glory - really not fair as a typical athlete gains a lot each year.
I saw loads of improvement from him in this match but he isn’t the only one getting better. Everyone is getting better. Wrestling is such a humbling sport. It will reward you for your hard work, resolve and willingness to improve upon yourself but the minute you get complacent you will come down plummeting to earth from orbit. Makes this sport amazing to watch
No clue how Turkey is a 57kg, dude looks big but, same goes for Gilman I guess. Really interested in seeing Gilman side by side with some of the guys he wrestled in NCAAs against cause he's built way bigger now
Yes it's like that every where around the world. You don't trip though. I think it''s because the freestyle mats are thicker than American mats. American mats looks much better.
Gave up 6 trying not to give takedown outta the quad pod position! He will be just fine, got a learn, was a great opponent from turkey! Every time Nick fake a shot the guy went to drop!Learn from wrestling the best!
In freestyle, you earn 2 points for turning your opponent beyond 90 degrees to expose their back to the mat (you do not have to hold them in that position like you do in folkstyle). After the 2 pt takedown, TUR executed a gut wrench to roll Suriano and expose his back two times for a total of 4 more pts.
Way to go Nick, at least he didn't get double digits on you. Your hype exceeds your ability lately. Looks like you're keeping up with your tan more than you wrestling.
Suriano wasn’t as offensive as he’s been in other match ups, but the score isn’t Indicative of the match. That score discrepancy was the result of one series and could have gone either way. Close match up.
Not a single good shot in 6 minutes. I so wish Fix would have beat him and gotten a national championship…. Defense wins. If it didn’t we wouldn’t ever say the name Suriano.
Never stopped wrestling! Dude from Turkey was no joke!
Do you know how the guy from Turkey did in the finals? Wouldn’t be surprise if Nicky took it out of him in that match.
At least he stayed in the fight. Showed some heart on the mat.
Good show of class by both wrestlers after the match. Squashed it
All I see is a bad ass wrestler that needs a bit more experience on freestyle. Soon to be champ.
Even Dan Gable and Cael Sanderson lost their early freestyle matches. Once they got past that learning curve, they were unstoppable.
Suriano wrestling like a heavyweight
His biggest challenge of the year: focusing on the match when the woman I want to marry and start my homestead farm with was reffing.
What?
All the respect Wrestled to the end . Would like to see some more offensive moves from Nick
Odd title. Biggest test kind of implies that he passed the test. "Suriano fails biggest test of the year so far"? Just a weird title.
that's what I'm saying I thought he won without watching it and then I see it was 9 and 2 at the end
I didn't interpret it that way it all. I thought it'd be a pretty close match, and had no idea who won.
Yea after the points it was just defensive wrestling. Fair play to him though, got the points early and used them to his advantage
Dang the dude from Turkey is a beast. Makes me wonder how guys get that good
😂 practice
@@maxorozco3314 Dang who knew!!! lol
I remember Atli beating Gilman for world bronze 5 years ago. Tough dude
tested??? He got run over
Right I was confused lol
Exactly what i thought. I thought he was gonna make a comeback cause of caption. Waited around till end for nothing. Broski got steamrolled
Good, I wasn't the only one that thought the title was a bit misleading
Where was the urgency to score? Not one shot for two minutes?? Just trying to headbutt the guy out the circle for one
Dirty

To be fair Suriano currently isn't an olympic level freestyle wrestler yet.

Idk how you expect to win when you take your first shot of the match 5 minutes and 56 seconds into a 6 minute match. . .
Never give up! That's what I saw!

Why does the mat have such a loose surface? Is this common for international wrestling. It seems like it could trip people up.

Just wondering does imply that at 57kg would have to be a wrestle off with Suriano, Spencer and Gilman for the Olympic team??
Yup, I don't see anyone other than Spencer qualifying for 57 in US
Suriano, what happened to the scrambling!?
But regardless, tough match, and he will be champ soon!
Scrambling can be dangerous in freestyle because you risk exposing your back

Keep grinding nick
Nick is a goat he keeps training like he is and work hard he’ll be fine
Failed the test. If Nick can't out-muscle his opponent, he's done.
Suriano looks like he has lost some muscle mass. He may be cutting too much weight
Will someone explain how that second takedown was 6 pts?
takedown +2 rolls = 6 points

nicks biggest test is gonna be against gilman, lee, if he wants to be a Olympian
Nicky gotta get some more offense and then he’s unstoppable
1:40 they actually start wrestling
They were wrestling the entire match. Fix your eyes mane.
Turkey great defense a good gut wrench. Nick has to work on turning them.
Nick showed a lot in this defeat though was one of my fav wrestlers when I was in high school and still is one of them
A loss is good for Suriano. He is a great athlete but not exactly humble. This may light a fire under him.
Nick got smoked! Welcome to the worlds best fella
Nick is a good guy
Suriano got smoked holy cow
Dude Suriano never took a shot. Only faked for 6 mins
The Turk looked 12 pounds heavier.
bros strong
Gets tested? Gets worked!
That Turkey dude is GOOD! Nick, not so much…..
Wow
Love Suriano. Tough match.
Nick didn’t look confident this match
Very defensive from the Turkish guy, good wrestling nonetheless
Test? He got whooped

No level changes from Suriano. Didn't seem to be in his element.
