    Hold rod holder at a 30 degree angle and once arcing move in a little downward spiral for a smooth weld.

    DEFECT ALERT: If I had my own UA-cam channel, I would make a video about this DEFECT I found and corrected in my brand new TopShak ZX7-250A 110V welder, which I bought on Banggood. Apparently, this unit was assembled using five M3x10 machine threaded screws to anchor the 3 big heat sinks in the back of the unit, near the cooling fan. This was a HUGE MISTAKE on the manufacturers part, because the heat sinks have no machined or tapped threads for the M3 x10 anchoring screws to bite into substantially...but only crude SLOTS in the aluminum castings. You need to grab a standard #2 Phillips screwdriver and remove the welder cover, then use the screwdriver to check all five heat sink anchoring screws on the bottom of the circuit board, to see how many of them are loose and INCAPABLE of even being sufficiently tightened in the first place. I just replaced all five LOOSE heat sink anchoring screws with some slightly bigger sheet metal screws, which have tapered threads very similar to self tapping screws. NOW all five screws can be tightened very securely. You really don't want any of those 3 heat sinks EVER coming loose, because the result will eventually be a certain failure of the welder. If you rely on the factory installed M3 x10mm screws to keep those heat sinks secure, your welder is headed for certain failure. Luckily, this shortcoming is very easy to remedy.

      Is the welder actually 110v or 120v. Would this welder trip a 15amp circuit breaker ?

    • @scottfrazer8376
      @scottfrazer8376 3 роки тому +2

      Call it 110V or 120V, but at the end of the day, it is the same old single phase AC wall outlet supply voltage that we all use here in the USA for most of our common AC powered appliances and devices. MOST of the smaller devices and appliances rated for 110/120VAC are going to run on any outlet that is supplying anywhere from 90vac to 130vac. But anywhere between 110vac to 120vac is optimum. I have found that 113VAC to 118VAC seems to be about the national average wall outlet voltage, which is just fine. I don't KNOW that there would be much DIFFERENCE....whether the manufacturer rates the device to run off 110vac or 120vac. But I really don't recommend running ANY kind of 110/120vac welder or plasma cutter on ANYTHING LESS than a common 20 AMP circuit breaker. That would be the BARE MINIMUM for running even the smallest inverter welder....especially with the welder output current turned up to MAX OUTPUT. You might get away with the 15 AMP rated breaker IF you are running NO OTHER DEVICES off that circuit AND you are keeping the welder power dial at NO MORE than 50% power. Remember that the inverter output circuit depends upon IGBT inverter power for welding. If you try to run Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistors on an AC supply circuit that is sagging too much with ac voltage drop during heavy current draw, you can literally FRY the Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistors and/or rectifiers and it won't matter HOW BIG the heat sinks are, that the IGBTs and rectifiers are mounted to...inside the inverter welder. Same thing can happen running the welder at MAX OUTPUT on a cheap, skinny little 18AWG extension cord. Running a welder on a circuit with a higher current rating and heavier wire than the minimum required will keep the wiring inside your walls from getting hot, so it is always a good idea to have at least one 110/120vac circuit in your dwelling that has at least a 20 Amp breaker...just for running power tools or a small welder. For the sake of thermal headroom, I would go even higher and run the welder off 25A or even 30A breaker....WITH the appropriate gauge wiring to SUPPORT the 25A to 30A breaker of course. When it comes to running a welder, MORE is ALWAYS BETTER in terms of ac supply current. This is why it is nice to have a DUAL VOLTAGE welder, such as the 160A Deko Pro MMA welder, because you can always just plug it into any 220VAC dryer outlet, which almost always has a higher current breaker than your most common 110/120vac outlets . But running the Deko pro on a 220vac outlet will only draw about HALF the current (Amps) as running off a 110/120V outlet. So almost ANY 220V outlet would be far greater for running a smaller welder, even if the breaker is an OLDER 220vac circuit and rated only for 20 Amps. But I think you will find in most modern dwellings, the 220vac dryer outlet will usually be on a 30 AMP breaker, which is even better. But again...ANY 220VAC outlet would be far better for running even a smaller welder...especially if all your 110/120vac outlets are only rated for 15 Amps!!!

A presto e continua cosî!

    The wire on that transformer is not capable of 225 Amps. So maybe it is good for 100 Amps or so. The power semiconductors are mounted on Heatsinks right up against the fan so the get adequate cooling. They could make it a little bigger and mount bigger Semiconductors in the board and a larger transformer and they could really reach 225 Amps if the input power can handle it.

I would of straightened that out first thing upon removing the cover. But that's just me. You know it really erks me to see at the end of the video that the cover still is bent!
