I'm curious would this be a pretty good device for somebody that has never welded anything before or would the carlos welders be better. I'm going to start doing some rest repairs on an old car I have.
You will they are 2.5 rods smaller than you 3.2 and I would only use the 2.5 and Good Quality which will be Easy striking at the Beginning of the weld and less of a load on such a small machine ❤😊
I tried 20 amps with the supplied rods, a lot of sticking, and not really producing a good puddle. 30-40 amps probably needed with a 1/16 60312 rod....16 ga. sheet metal hoping it doesn't burn through.
I'm looking for that discount code you mentioned. I'm sold on the idea that this will be great for rust repairs on body panels. Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate this jewel.
@@scantronsgarage I've never seen anyone who could make aluminum rods welds look good. If you want good looking aluminum welds use a mig or better still a tig.
He never said he was a master welder. Yes, they are not pretty. I and every one of my welder friends would not be happy with these welds. To be fair, for someone who never went through school, and never spent years on it these are the exact results I would expect with a traditional 110 stick welder and a dude in his garage. I would like to point out that he likes the gun style machine more. His not having decades of experience aside, all of his points still stand. Not for me, but great for any person with low skill looking for a low price point for entry.
I was fully expecting this to be in the xxxx digits in regards to price, but atm it's 80 bucks! That's crazy! Nice video :)
Thank you! and yes for the money this is totally worth it
Thank you very much for sharing.
You bet! Thank you for the opportunity
Is this still for sale? Doesn't show up on the links above...
What setting would I want it to fill a hole on a quarter panel?

A MIG welder would work the best for automotive repairs but yes you could get started with this to learn welding
Where did you put the grounding clamp?
Either on my welding table or directly to the piece I am welding.
Great video, do you know what power generator would this run off?
Thanks! Any generator that supports 110 V and 20 Amps will work
@ great thanks
it looked like it burned a lot of rod fast?

Yes, I was using a smaller filler rod. A thicker rod would have burned slower
Does it only use AC rods?
Yes
But this is a DC welding machine. So just any filler rod with flux
This would be invaluable on a farm, for quick repairs.
Yeah! It's definitely good for that. I use it on my property all the time

how thick of metal do you think would be the limit with this thing?
1/8 is pushing its limits
Can you use alumirod to weld aluminum with this welder?
Yes but it will not be pretty
This is so cool.
Thank you
How thin of metal can you weld without blowing a hole in it
I did 16 gage with no issues.

I couldn’t find it 🤷♂️. And the link says page not found
I will update the link. Sorry about that
What's the duty cycle? I can't imagine a 110 stick welder could run for long without overheating.
I don't know the duty cycle however, I used the hell out of it and the overheating lamp never came on
10 :P
So you didn’t explain if we should wear welding helmet or gaggles
You should wear safety gear
Does this machine weld aluminum?
Yes but it wont be pretty. You need an A/C welder to make it look good

@@larrymorris6896 very true
Nice
the first weld looked like bubble gum the rest did look fair
Those welds are full of porosity, not pretty.
Thank you

Hello will this tool work on aluminum?
Yes it will....however it will result in an ugly weld. TIG welding aluminum will yield much neater and stronger welds. But this will work in a pinch
