Yet another great Edgar Wright film. C.J. Jones, who played Baby's foster father, is a deaf actor and was the ASL coach/consultant for Keivonn Woodard, who played Sam, the deaf brother in "The Last of Us". He works with Deaf kids in schools to put on plays, and his toured with one-man shows he has written. I think he was originally hired as a consultant on this film, but ended up getting hired. Also, the short gun dealer who gets shot is the legendary Paul Williams, write of massive hits such as "The Rainbow Connection" from "The Muppet Movie", "Evergreen" for Barbara Streisand, multiple hits for The Carpenters and other bands, and the soundtrack for the great cult movie musical, "Phantom of the Paradise" that he also stars in.
Most of the stunt driving was Ansel Elgort and John Hamm themselves actually. There are only a few parts in scenes where a stunt driver needed to take it, but pretty much everything you saw in that intro before "props to the stunt driver" was him. Even crazy moves like Baby drifting into camera frame later in thw movie was Ansel. Similar for the parkour.
Edgar Wright is one of my favorite movie director in the world. With Scott Pilgrim at number 1 in my favorite movie of 2010 when i hear he gonna direct a new movie after a long time i immediately check it out as soon as it hit my country and i gotta say:Yeah this movie definitely is one of Edgar best work yet.To fully enjoy this movie i suggest viewer go to the theater completely blind and know nothing about the plot cause that what i did and it paid off very well. With Edgar unique visual directing style the movie nearly about 2h but it very fast paced and packed with so much awesome things so it very re watchable.Although the plot being done a million time before so you kinda know how it gonna end and how the characters being played but with Edgar dialogue style the movie always know when it need to be serious and when it need to be funny. All the characters interact with each other very smooth.Ansel Elgort for the first time i saw him on the big screen is brilliant as Baby the main character that relate very much to me.With a cast full of A-list actors seeing them each have their own backstory and mystery also please me a lot and add so much weight to the movie. With all the thing i list up there i highly recommend it for everyone
Fun Fact, Edgar Wright actually came up with the concept for Baby Driver over 14 years before its release from a music video he directed of all things! In 2003 Wright directed the music video to Blue Song by Mint Royale, starring Noel Fielding (of The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd) and Nick Frost (of Shaun of the Dead). In the music video, Noel Fielding plays the role of Baby (without the name) cueing his music up before allowing Nick Frost and the other robbers to enter the bank to rob it. Wright gives a direct reference in Baby Driver to this scene from the music video during the Mike Meyers mask scene, with Baby restarting a song during an argument between the crew before the robbery starts so he can stay on time.
@@Unqualifiedmedicalperson that’s fair, I do as well, but I tell so many people about this movie and they don’t watch it because he’s in the movie, which sucks.
I watched a BTS video that said Edgar Wright picked the music in advance & then played the music on set during recording of the scenes so the actors could react to the actual music & it made editing much easier
According to Quentin Tarantino, the music is the hardest thing about making a movie. Tarantino says when you write a scene with a certain song in mind, 50% to 60% of the time the particular song you want will not make it into the movie. I'm pretty sure that Edger Wright had several songs for each scene ready to go just in case they couldn't secure the rights to the ones that he wanted.
Yes, absolutely watch CODA. It was a really incredible little family drama. Extremely sweet and incredibly-well acted. CODA = Child of Deaf Adults (to give you a clue as to what it's about)
This was an absolute banger of a hour . Baby driver was good for its time competeting with Need for speed and the Family series (fast n furious) 😅😂 New goated duo Kristen and Vivian are ❤, Edgar is goated as it is 😂❤
Real hero in this movie is the editor. And the DP and set decorators. And let's throw Edgar a bone too. That slow-mo walk out of the wrecking yard timed perfectly with the music is every person in every role working beautifully together.
Spacey’s character, whatever his name is, seems like he’s pretty good at what he does. Ya’d think he’d know how “Batz” makes every situation more dangerous and how unpredictable he can be. But he hires him for multiple jobs. Busch league stuff.
Thanks for this review, guys! Never closing doors, never finishing the food on the plate, wearing clickety-clack shoes when you are supposed to be stealthy... this and more - all annoying to watch in movies/shows.
Supposely when you watch this on headphones, Baby's earpiece is in whichever side of his ear, you hear the music he listens on the same one side of your ear.
Edgar Wright would be part of the conversation of being one of the great directors of our generation, atleast on the western front. His influence on the new generation of cinema has been inevitable.
Tumeke (Awesome) reaction my bro. Our culture is one that can speak to all. I love seeing people experience it. Edgar Wright dreamed of making a movie based music and film interactions for years. You can see it all through his work.

"Sound of Metal" is a movie about hearing loss, music and sign. It's an amazing movie! Definitely worth a watch.
Loved Kristen’s reaction and Vivian’s love for the characters

23:40 she went out Queen Latifah style! (In the movie Set It Off. Which was also about bank robbers.)
Really hope this movie doesn't get any sequel or prequel.. This standalone movie is perfect already.. To me, this movie is masterpiece..
