      @josephwilson8391 Great defense or not. Eli came through in the biggest moments during those amazing runs to the sb. Then he had game winning drives in those sb's. The bigger the moment, the better he played. Would you rather of had Donovan McNabb who was by far the worst big game qb in the history of the league. Great regular season qb but when you needed that last possession game winning drive he choked every time. Eli got you 2 championships. So be quiet and give the guy some credit for being extremely clutch in the biggest spots.

      Based on his last name, 8 games where he was elite, and the fact that he did it for a NY based franchise, you're right there's no debate
      Sad that you can get in a Hall of Fame just with that on your resume. No one watched Eli play week in a week out during his career and saw greatness. At times he was great, at times he was awful. Not average, but awful.
      If thats a Hall of Famer to you, then fine. But he should't be in based on a couple of postseason runs.
      He's closer to Joe Flacco than Tom Brady

    • @stanfromwestport2024

      Respectfully disagree...Eli was very good/good most seasons...Not GREAT...To be a true HOFer, a player simply needs to be the top 1, 2, or 3 players at their position during their era...And Eli was never that...I love everything Eli did, especially the 2 SB Rings he got, but he is not a HOFer

    • @FrankieBlueEyes
      @FrankieBlueEyes 4 дні тому

      Eli played in a ridiculous offensive system. Gilbride's silent read system was overly complicated, and when you had new receivers, it took them a long time to understand it. Cruz even said, your route might change 10yds down the field and you had to read the same thing Eli did or the pass might be 15 yards behind you.

    The Mets didn't embarrass Pete..... he's getting the highest AAV this season for any first baseman in MLB history. The market wasn't there.... PERIOD. He won't get to the number they offered him a couple of years ago..... most likely.....but if he has a big year and continues to put big power numbers moving forward....he will wind up making over 100 million+ for the remainder of his career.

      With this contract Pete is at 98 million for his career earnings and at the end of this contract he’ll be 32 and will have another 5-6 years in him. He’ll earn close to 200 mil in his career. He’s declined. If he’d hit 50 HR every year since 2019 he would’ve gotten the contract he wanted and then some. This deal is fair for everyone. Mets went up on AAV, Pete came down on years

    Analytics ruined basketball just like they ruined baseball.
    And the underlying reason is the same.
    The analysts focus on what they can quantify and forget about what they can't - and then they strut around like they are geniuses. In reality, they are morons.
    And, of course, the non quantifiable stuff is the stuff that's most important, most interesting and most entertaining, but it is all kicked to the curb by analytics.

    • @jimwerther
      @jimwerther 4 дні тому

      The quants are not nearly as smart as they think they are, but a team's job is to win, not worry about putting on a show.

    • @KarlOrtmertl
      @KarlOrtmertl 4 дні тому

      @@jimwerther The quants haven't proven a damn thing. They sell the (empty) suits a bill of goods and roll out a bunch of charts "proving" that if you follow their advice, you'll win. But their analysis is limited and they omit factors that they can't properly quantify. So you end up only focusing on stuff they can quantify like three pointer percentages.
      If you could take one of those old style NBA teams, pre analytics, against the current teams, they'd wipe up. (A mitigating factor in doing this is whose rules would you use - the current rules such as allowing palming of the ball, travelling, taking three monster steps to the basket for dunks, allowing certain players to bully their way to the basket with impunity ,,,,, - the game is really pretty unrecognizable from what it used to be). But I digress with the rules thing here - altho' I must say that there is a reason that European teams, with much less athletic abiltiy, crush US teams - they play the game more properly and teach and support skills that analytics eschew.

    I think under the circumstances it worked out fairly well, Pete gets $30 mil this year (no other first basemen makes more than $28 mil) so that part of his ego is catered to...the issue is can he have a big enough year to get him a longer term perhaps 5 year deal beyond this year
    I think their ideal lineup is either Vientos or Nimmo batting second, Soto third with Alonso behind him but they definitely have lineup flexibility with interchangeable parts

    As a Cowboys I always try to be fair to Eli and not let my bias run wild. I don’t see Tony Romo as a Hall of Famer. I have my reasons for that. Which brings me to my main point, that statistically Romo is ahead of Eli and almost every way that you can measure it.
    Then there’s the 2 Super Bowls. That’s obviously the main case for Eli. But when you look at individual postseason play, Romo is ahead of Eli there too. Much better TD to INT ratio. Higher completion percentage and much higher passer rating. If I’m not putting Tony in, there’s no way I can justify putting Eli in. Romo was statistically better in the regular and post season.

    Pete is trying to bet on himself once again with the opt out: if he bats 217 with runners in scoring position again, he is going to be in dog house; the Mets are going Vlad Jr. Alonso better do well, he's the highest paid 1st baseman in baseball.

      He was the number pick in his draft class! That means he went to a terrible team and he helped them win multiple Super Bowls! Tell me the last number one selection that won multiple Super Bowls?

      He beat Tom Brady twice in the Superbowl ! HOW MANY OTHER QBS CAN SAY THAT ?. He has over 55,000 passing yards ! He's in the top 10 in 3 other categories all time .. I would take Eli Manning right now still over Daniel Jones

    That's a ridiculous take on Eli's Hall of Fame qualifications. For a person that prides himself with being a tough voter for entry, this is a very weak argument. You're letting your personal opinion of Eli cloud your opinion. Do better Mike

      Not to mention, Asante Samuel dropping the biggest gift INT in history
      Anyone who doesnt say that he didnt have the luckiest 2 SB's wins is just lying to themselves
      The Giants D deserves more praise than he does holding Brady to 14 and 17 points in Superbowls.

      @@NothingToPointOut24 If New England would have won that Super Bowl Tom Brady would have gotten all the credit.. So why should it have changed just because Eli! Hell half of Tom Brady Super Bowl wins were luck! Good luck it's always a part of winning. Being at the right place right time! The main thing is to put yourself in position to make that happen

    • @NothingToPointOut24

      @ In 07 if the Pats won that game 14-10 or whatever, no way is Brady or anyone on that offense getting the game MVP. Atleast if those days it wasnt a guarantee that the QB is getting the game MVP just because of position.
      I agree that half of Brady's SB wins were lucky. Thats a whole different convo though cause I highly believe the refs got them back into the games against Atlanta and Seattle and set them up to atleast do what needed to be done for them to win.
