CORRECTION: I thought it was worthwhile updating in a comment here that Memoir and Shangri La are both Chypres not technically classified as ambers but to me they have a bit of an ambery element as well.
My top 10 are practically always the same, with the exception of one or two going in and out. They are almost lifers b/c I believe the world of perfumery has already produced their masterpieces (primarily between 60s and 90s for me) and it is difficult to add anything of substance anymore.
That’s totally fair enough. I may be in a similar boat with the exception of a couple. I’ve also been finding newer releases that I *really* love tend to be based on a more traditional style of perfumery 🤗
This was a fantastic and telling video Cherie! There were some surprises in there and some things I expected to see. You really have gone off vanilla. The Chanel Number 5 fragrances, variety of Shalimar fragrances and Ormande Woman were all anticipated. My Mom wore Number 5 when I was a little girl. She only wore fragrance on special occasions. It was her signature and on her skin it was pretty, but when I snuck into her room to take a sniff of the bottle's nozzle I was repulsed. The aldehydes were so chemical smelling. I wonder now as an adult with broader taste if I would like it? I avoided smelling it in the stores as it was one of my earliest scent memories in regard to perfumes. (I love my mom BTW...) She changed her perfume when the bottle was done. So it isn't my only scent memory in regard to her. Anyway, I should go give it a sniff because perhaps I would enjoy it. I have been finding some of the fragrances I have been enjoying more recently, do have some light aldehydes. It brings that classic French perfumery quality and it feels very classy to wear. You look fresh and energized in your video. The daylight while changeable brings a nice lightness to your space. I hope you had a good weekend. Take care! - Jenn
I am a Chanel girl too ! Coco EdT is my favourite at the moment, and for the big occasions I wear N°5 pure parfum. I will add Eau Premiere on my list for Christmas, I make sure my Chanels are gifts you see .. 😁😎
Great list, bought the relaunched Shangri-la as I finally came to the realisation that you'd never let yours go, ha! Its just so gorgeous. Also found a bottle of Ormande Woman. In Chypre heaven.
haha oh great! I still have that second bottle that was floating around the UK, it is now in Oz but I havent arranged to collect it from my friend yet haha. Perhaps we should swap samples for a comparison game!
I love that your most worn fragrances seem to be classics … or closely related to them. By the way: my no buy-year seems to have started in July as I haven’t bought a fragrance since then. It somehow just happened because I realised that I hardly wear the ones I love and I stead kept looking for the next new thing. I love the Les Exclusifs by the way, 31 Rue Cambon being my favourite chypre by the way. It basically is the essence of Chanel in a bottle. ❤ Here’s to a wonderful 2023!
I discovered Memoir and Oh La La this year and fell in love, such a gorgeous scents ❤ L’Eau and Premiere are absolutely beautiful, works for any season and occasion.
Great choices. I always enjoy your videos and get a lot of inspiration for fragrances to test. Am on a low buy year and am focused on decluttering any fragrances I don’t love but keeping a wishlist for 2024. Thank you for sharing your most worn beauties. ❤
Loved the list. I have a habit of logging my wears on fragrantica (not those sampling only the main scent) I should look back. Last year saw my return to fragrance. I spent way too much. Bought too many and smashed wide open my palate. 2023 will be more restrained now I’ve gotten the worst of my pent up (6 years of austerity measures) fragrant exploration out of my system. I have a list of must haves. I’m enamoured with Nawabh of Oudh by OJ after discovering and buying a high partial of Tolu (be still my heart). I fell in love with it ❤️. Oud, rose, white florals and lavender notes are some of my new favourites. Scherzo was much coveted and two decants were emptied. L’Eau D’Hiver entered my life. Cristalle EDP was an epiphany. Cuir Ylang, Opus 1144, Rose Berberanza, La Panthere Parfum, Portrayal, Bee (Zoology) and Kiss Me Intense brightened up winter (among many). Fragrance through yet more isolation/lockdowns and some hard experiences has been a huge comfort and way of expressing myself. Here’s to more (with intentionality and discernment and less reaction/fomo) in 2023 as I buy less and buy better as well as learn to edit :)
Hi Cherie! I am a new subscriber, and I appreciate the thoughtful way you present your fragrances. I wear Chanel #5 Eau Premier to work every Monday. It puts me together and keeps me grounded. Thank you for your hard work! 👏👍🌹
Interesting about that layering combination! Big fan of 811 and Shangri La too. 🥰 Truly an amazing 3 week dent in Millesime Tonka Cherie. I'm honestly proud of you. 😄🧡
Great video. I know some of these and want to try others. Have you ever tried Chanel #5 extrait? 'It does not smell like any of the other formulations. 'Thanks for sharing this list.
Hi Angie- thanks so much! Haha yes the parfum was actually the second No,5 I bought after Eau premiere. It is very different I agree. Beautiful - and it got me closer to enjoying the EdP ;)
Loved the video, Cherie. I'm not sure what would have been on my list but it definitely would have included Sunset Hour by G&B. I went through a whole travel spray and made a dent in the big bottle.
I am in a dry desert climate in the US and we arent having a cold winter at all. I recently was craving some woody spice so I have been wearing Stash by SJP, Obsession for women and my Cafe de Dua (coffee/coconut) by DUA.
In central us and also experiencing the heat! I’m craving fresh almost green scents Used Jo Malone today fig and cassis for a room spray 😆 Otherwise I’m craving spring scents
@@joiedevivre894 its interesting to me how we go for things which bring a certain level of enjoyment and comfort. I am known to wear heavy perfumes in summer tho. my smallest collection are freshies, who knows why? the one I love the most I cant find, called The Key.
I think you are a Chanel girl. I remember watching your video what you wore to bed. And I said I love wearing Pikovaya Dama. Now I am back in Russia and my mom is a Chanel girl like you are. I wear Chanel 5 to bed. I can NOT wear it on its own. I like mixing it with Fatal Charme by Xerjoff or with Jeanne by Lanvin. I do love the last one because I lived in Taiwan and wore about 16 bottles of it. That's the only perfume I can stand in the heat.
Very enjoyable video Cherie - my most worn perfume for 2022 is easily Nosy Bee Ylang Ylang, closely followed by Dusita Le Pavillion d’Or and Blondine by Frassai. 😊
@@TheTopNote I received a sample of Victoria when I bought my replacement bottle of Blondine. Gorgeous perfume but like all fragrances with tuberose, it gave me headache 🥺
Happy New Year Cherie ! 😊 You intrigued me with this Panthea iris. I was looking for a fresh musky iris that I would enjoy lately ^^ N°5 l'eau is my favourite version. I find it to be super versatile, cosy and elegant at the same time ❤ (This was the only bottle I finished in 2022 ). I'm glad you enjoy the millésime tonka too. This one also got me by surprised. It became a dumb reach for me at some point 🥰 (I got a back up bottle then, which I don't do often)
Hi Chris! I find them vastly different. Memoir is more of a Chypre style (I think I said ambery in the video but I had a brain fart) it is more green, more spicy and it doesn’t have that scorched smoky vibe that Terroni has. Memoir is more floral too I think. I think Memoir is more approachable than Terroni from a wearability perspective - I can only tackle Terroni on the coldest of days here in Oz! X
I haven’t smelled the two that have just released yet (it will be a while before they hit Aussie shores I think) I tried Royal Tobacco recently, I wouldn’t be able to wear it as a perfume but I would enjoy it as a room scent. 😂

Love Honor Woman....
💯 Chris! Although, I didnt get along with the original.

Ambre 114 is so good! I have come to love No. 5 L’eau and don’t care much for the original.

I also enjoyed my decants of Memoir and L'air du desert marocain a lot. My most worn were Allure sensuelle edt, Ormonde Woman and Cuir Ottoman :)
I only discovered Ormonde Jayne, late to the party..Omg U must test Xian in new line ♥️
Haha already own it! It’s one of my “calm” perfumes.

Thanks Kicki!
Fellow Iris fan here ❤️ Would you be willing to do an Iris list at some point?
Would I?! Absolutely- actually I already have a list done up that I was going to do last year and I never quite got there 🙈

Enjoyed that so much Cherie ❤
