Soft Classic: understanding her lines and shape

- Hi,
In this video I illustrate the description of the Kibbe Soft Classic using Kibbe-verified SC celebrities, and I briefly discuss SC styling and essence, as well as comparisons to other image IDs.
I said: check out "strictly kibbe soft romantic"
I meant : "sk soft classic" 🌼
I struggle to know whether I am soft natural or soft classic, having more weight makes it difficult.
Girl same 😭
Don’t know if this helps, but I’d say if despite your weight you still look a bit athletic/muscular versus soft and fleshy you’re more than likely an SN. I’ve also heard if you can pull off SG lines you’re more than likely SC because a SN cannot pull off those looks as nicely. Hope that helps a bit.
@@MassielMancebo I think that does help I just have a problem with little things that make me doubt being soft classic but this helps
I can relate, I was torn between those 2 as well. Another thing I just remembered that helped me was hair. SN look really nice and still put together with sort of tousled and messy hair styles, bigger jewelry, but most of all the messy type hair. As much as I wanted to look nice in that type of hair, I look much better with more organized, symmetrical and classic hairstyles. I think that and the make up definitely made me realize I was SC.
TheNomadLens yes, if messy hair makes you look bad, you are definitely not a soft natural. Also, natural clothing makes a classic look too casual. If you can pull off classic lines as well as natural lines, you‘re more likely to be a natural body type (because classic lines tend work on most people).
I'm not sure if this is something you'd be interested in doing, but would you consider comparing known groups of women in pictures?
Like "The Spice Girls", or the cast of "Orange Is The New Black" or "Sex & The City" etc?
To some extent they all send off different vibes, and their character might not be meant to portray what the actress *really* portrays etc.
(For instance, "Charlotte" on "Sex & The City" seems to be meant to portray a Classic image ID, but I'm unsure if actress Kristin Davis actually *is* a type of Classic. And thus, we might subconsciously pick up some mismatch that makes us perceive the character differently than what the writers intended originally, and we only see the change to a more wholesome development through a few seasons of a show).
@Fanny's LoA Great idea! 👍👍👍
I totally see what you mean abd this is a wonderful idea, I will add this to my "video ideas" list and see if I caj produce something ❤️ thank you so much for a fun suggestion!
I would love to see this!
Soft classic club!
what i like the most about kibbe body types, is that it has α better description and it’s all about embracing every kind of type .
Love it 🥰 I'm a soft classic and i get so easly confused whit others softs types, because you are in the middle. I'm a tall person but i don't look tall, i love the
I’m a soft classic as well. I’m also quite tall (around 5’8”) but my vertical line makes me look much shorter than I am!
I wish we could see more of asian and african women in this category
I’d say Zhang Ziyi is probably a Soft Classic, as is Kerry Washington.
I love the details and comparisons in this video. It makes more sense in contrast.
One thing, I've noticed that English speaking people often pronounce Coti-ll-ar-d while it is actually sounds Coti-ya-r.
I’m really enjoying these videos. I like your more analytical approach. The funny thing is that every one I watch, I think, “Oh, maybe I’m that,” even the TR and SC when I’m pretty sure I have a lot more Yang going on!
Excellent video! One of the best I've seen on explaining the soft classic woman. Thank you!
I love all your Kibbe videos! Great work! Thank you! Looking forward to the soft natural one....👍 I wonder if it is possible to be a mix of two types: for example soft natural and soft classic?
I've just made a Kibbe Body Test and found out I'm SC although I always thought I belonged to Theatrical Romantic and/or Romantic ''cause I feel rather small for my height. But when it comes to personality traits, SC fits me way better.
i think i’m a soft classic but i don’t know if my features are symmetrical
riley lafrance if a middle part makes you look terrible you're no symmetrical so try that out x
riley lafrance look at the features of your face - none of them should be more obvious than the others ie you don’t have huge eyes or large lips compared to rest of face.
That didn't let me recognise myself as SC and the notion of symmetry actually creates much confusion. So I agree that features can be considered symmetrical if nothing stands out too much, however the "middle part" test does not work for me because of the face shape. So with that in mind other significant markers should be considered - like being moderately sized or looking best ladylike and elegant. This helped me to get out of the soft types mess :D
My face Is definitely not symmetrical but I'm still a sc I thought the same thing but I guess its overall not just one aspect
It’s not really symmetry like mirrors but more like symmetry in proportions
Loved this video, thanks for sharing! More info for soft classics!
Would be nice if you had included more women of color. I think I'm a soft classic, but it was really hard to confirm that with these pictures. Otherwise the video was very nice, thank you for making it.
Yeah, I agree it's not easy because everyone is very white. For this series of the "kibbe ID" videos, I chose to focus on information form David Kibbe and so I only use celebrities who were "verified" by him, from the official list in Strictly Kibbe. Unfortunately it's not very diverse.
For almost all of my own typing videos I focus on women of color as I'm trying to reduce the over-representation of white women in Kibbe typing. I have only one video about a SC celebrity so far (Lupita Nyongo) but hopefully some more in the future.
Loved this video and how passionate you are :) I really appreciate this deeper in-depth of the soft classic which is sometimes rushed in Kibbe analysis !! Keep up with the great work !
I'm stuck between soft classic and romantic. My face mostly has romantic features but body seems to be soft classic. Very confusing.
Liza Sarkar you should watch aly art’s videos. People can have a specific body type but their face can have a different type and she shows how to know and how to style yourself, etc...
Same. I have a TR face but an SC body 😩
Your hand size will help you. If you have little hands and feet... you are romantic.
Yes same!
@@andgummybears I have small hands but big feet and I'm also between R and SC D':
Thanks for this video! You're a great speaker, and I loved the reality check you brought to these pictures! It can be so easy to forget that the photos we are often comparing ourselves to are retouched, and the celebrities' best picture!
I’d love to see a DC video from you too. Thanks
Hi Rita, Do one about how to wear sneakers for soft classics! Thanks :D
Omg yes, I can never wear sneakers
When I first found out about Kibbe I wanted to be a Classic!!
I'm a soft classic and I find it a bit restraining. I want to wear natural shaped clothes but they just don't look well. I feel like everyone want us to dress like we are going to the an office 😔
can you please clarify what is the difference between soft classic and theatrical romantic? 😅 i feel like they’re very similar
based on my understanding, soft theatrical is a very yin dominant body type, so very soft, curvy, petite. whereas soft classic is a lot more of a balance between yin and yang, as well as being taller
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I was not on FaceBook when Strictly Kibbe began, but a number of my friends were (some still are -- I just have chosen not to join at this point because I limit my FB use since coming back). But, anyways, everyone was questioning their previous self-typing of their Kibbe once DK came around (understandably) and I was told he said SC's can usually handle more detail and ornamentation than people were assuming. Obviously not anything ostentatious (I don't know further what was said on the matter, it was just a suggestion to me in starting over feeling lost), but it made me start looking into SC again because too much starkness and simplicity was boring on me. That might go with how you said, though, SC isn't just cardigans and pearls and can wear some variety?
Sorry if this is really vague.
Yeah that's definitely true! DK really encourages people to not limit themselves by their image ID! A point which is sometimes lost by women searching for style tips which eventually become very limiting.
I think i could have emphasized this more in the video, as I think women often feel that if they are DC/SC they must only wear beige cardigans and plain slacks... And that is not true, it's just that an SC woman wants to look for clean and somewhat rounded lines.
As a SC, I've found that the small detail you're "allowed" to add is where you can be as over the top as you like. And it's great because the boring clothes start working as a canvas. I have these big painting earrings with the Venus by Botticelli on them. They look super cheesy if I mix them with the wrong clothes or other extravagant items, but if I put them on a minimalist look with nude makeup amd maybe some flowy fabrics they look great. I think, the point is thinking "I'm wearing these fancy a** earrings: Let's make them pop!"
Do you plan to feature all the different shapes? Can you possibly do dramatic classic and soft natural? I can't afford the Metamorphosis book at the price it currently goes for on Amazon. Lol
Yeah I am just on vacation right now and forgot to upload the ready videos into the cloud before I left.. So in a few weeks will come DC and then SN
I'm truly confused I think I'm soft classic but idk the more I watch videos the more I get confused because these women don't look or remind me of me my face is more soft I have a round face, big lips, a big nose, and almond eyes my body is soft but my legs are longer I really don't know what else I could be but I am drawn to soft classic clothes and think they look good on me someone help me 😩
3:20 The lady in the middle showed me that my prominent nose is only an expression of Yang that does not overpower my Yin-dominant face. It's been throwing me off for a while now!
I don't really get when they mean by symmetrical, can anyone explain it to me? I feel like everybody's body is pretty much symmetrical...
She means they're "symmetrical" when "folded over" horizontally, as in, they are not heavy on top, nor are they heavy on the bottom. You'll never see a soft classic who is significantly wider at the shoulders, and you'll never see a soft classic who is heavier at the thighs. Classic types always distribute their weight evenly all over their body. I hope this helped you to understand!
@@roisinnigcrainn7722 I see, thank you, it was very helpful :)
I keep going back and forth between soft classic and soft natural. 🤷🏼♀️
I don’t know am I soft classic or theatrical romantic. What is the difference between the two type ?
I guess theatrical romantics have more harscher bone structures on their face. But always remember to look at your body as a whole
I recommend to categorize your body as gamine, romantic, classic, dramatic and natural first and then decide which subtype you have. Other than that i really recommend to find a photo of a theatrical romantic and soft classic in bikini then put your photo of your body directly near them. While doing that be careful with the height factor. Good luck 😊
I have the same problem! I can’t figure the difference between them😅
@@lorengostyinin5260 Thx! I’m 5.25. I know I’m TR now
@@annam6113 soft classic usually look more muscular and taller than TR
I thought I was dramatic classic and now I just did the test again using old pictures of myself and comparing, I got soft classic. The only thing is I am 5’7” so not exactly in the soft classic range so I’m still confused. Lol
I really can't see the difference between soft classic and soft natural 😓 I'm so bad at this
Naturals are more muscular and classics are more waisted or have a smaller waist
SN has wider shoulder and chest area, may looks taller than they actually are cause the natural skeleton , meanwhile people usually dont see SC look taller than their actual height.
This was great!
Hi Rita! I wanted to thank you for your video, they have been really helpful to me 🙂 I particularly appreciate your approach, "fluid" (in lack of a better world) and delicate, yet highly informative. Do you plan to make more style video in the future? All the best from France!
Thank u so much 🥰 i really want to start making Kibbe videos again soon. I've been having some major struggles in my life lately (everything for the best though) and haven't been able to make time for this channel but this week I've been feeling the pull!!!!
@@StyleThoughtsbyRita Thank you for your kind answer! I'm really looking forward to see what you're up next 😊
Can you do one for dramatic classic, please? I'm still trying to figure out my Kibe Body Type.
My body is that of a Classic but my facial features are softer making it Soft Classic. This throws me off a little, since I am not known to have fleshiness in my body. I am still confused if I am a Soft Classic or a Classic
Kibbe has canceled the Classic ID and now says most women will lean a bit yin or a bit yang. I don't thinks fleshiness is as important as whether or not you have curve to accommodate. And in the group of Soft Classics around the world there is a lot of range in the extra "yin" one has and how it's presented. So if you feel SC fits you, just go with it and make it your own!!
Style Thoughts by Rita thank you so much for replying and sharing the information with me. It means a lot. I am so glad I found your channel ❤️
Great video!
Do I have to be 5’6 or under to be a soft classic? I took a test and also watched some videos on it and I’m pretty sure I am a soft classic. All the features described fit me, besides the height (I’m 5’8)
SC is meant to be quite petite, she is balanced with extra yin. The test is not reliable. I have a video on height. At 5'8" according to David Young are either FN SD or D. According to David, height automatically grants you yang regardless of what Aly says about head size or how tall you look.
All that being said : you see yourself as balanced and soft and maybe want to dress in simple clothes without some feminine touches. Why not? Kibbe is just a tool and everything you choose to do with it is up to you!! 💃🌺
I do always find this aspect confusing as Emma Thompson is 5'8 and reported to be SC, Kirsten Dunst is 5'7, and Grace Kelly was between 5'6.5 - 5'7 (and she had elongated looking limbs imo). Yet in vibe they all seem to perfectly fit the SC description and look lovely in those lines.
@@Nerdy-By-Nature yep! Celebrities are very confusing as David says many are lying about their height (true in many cases) and he often reclassifies celebrities after meeting them. They are meant to be more like inspiration / living moodboards but idk it's a whole sticky issue. Like the Rihanna TR issue. And David refuses to discuss modern celebrities any more.
Anyway for us non celebrities the height rules are pretty clear. It's not that a tall woman doesn't look "balanced" but in the Kibbe world she by definition is yang dominant due to her length 🙂 Of course nobody is forcing anyone to follow David's system!!!
I'm 5'4 and I'm pretty sure I'm soft classic too, is it possible?
I can’t decide if I’m a theatrical romantic or soft classic 🥺
R family typically "needs" more from clothes in terms of fit/structure and curve accommodation. If you're SC you may find that "too much yin" looks off on you
In my opinion I have all of those except my height (I did the test too)... can 158 cm still in Soft Classic type ??
Yes 🌞
@@StyleThoughtsbyRita Oouuu okiiee!!! Thank youu so much for helping mee!!! ❤
I did the test and turns out I’m a soft classic. What’s bothering me is that I’m 5’8” so that’s a bit confusing since SC are not taller than 5’6”.. I wish I had someone to tell me if I’m 100% soft classic hahaha, I’ve been struggling with my style for such a long time. I hate soft classic clothing, but I don’t look that great in really sharp clothes which I LOVE. It’s so annoying 😅
I have the same issue. I look like bigger SC.
I really think I am a soft classic, however i am 168cm, hope it doesnt matter
I'm so confused if I am soft classic or tr romantic. I have a double curve but evryhting else I think I'm a soft classic
Thank you
Thank YOU for watching
I don’t know if I’m SC or TR my answers was mostly D with C and E. My bust is almost the same as my hips but I have slightly large shoulders and my waist is smaller than bust and hips. Help 😂😭
@@noirinserenity thank you for the reply! I posted a photo on reddit and I find out that I’m actually a FG 😂
@@noirinserenity If you post there I think they can help you. Good luck!
How do I post photos on Reddit. What's the site
What was the name of the Grace Kelly movie you recommended for good SC looks?
Rear Window!
Too bad I can’t follow the comparisons because I don’t know all these women by name and unfortionally you don’t tell.
sorry about that!
Olivia de havilland
Grace Kelly through your window
Mary koto or Veronica leeklok
I'm between dramatic and soft classic. Confused 🤔
Those are so different though! D is about elongation, sharpness, sleek shape-- if you have length/elongation in your body you are unlikely to be SC
@@StyleThoughtsbyRita I'm not such an elongated classic and I'm 1,68 m long but I can see an overall vertical line (I don't look very rounded overall).
My bone structure has more yang (not short arms/legs, somewhat squarish hands, somewhat long chin, high cheekbones) but my flesh has enough yin to confuse me (rounded nose, full lips, almost rounded eyes, rounded breast shape, medium to big size butt, but on the other hand I never get weight on my arms and torso which is a yang thing and I only get weight on hips and belly a little bit).
I feel that the problem with me is that everything is "somewhat". My long chin is not long enough to be dramatic for example and all the fleshness in different elements of me, seem soft.
On the other hand also my angular elements are "somewhat" angular. Like my shoulders, vertical line (I feel that to be dramatic classic you need to have a more lean and angular silhouette).
Everything is "somewhat" and it confuses me but I cannot say that I'm simply a classic because especially my chin and hips are not totally balanced with my face/body.
@@simplyme8593 well I'll save you some worries and tell you at 166 you have elongation in your body that takes you out of Soft Classic! 🌸
@@StyleThoughtsbyRita oh wow! Thank you so much! I needed someone more knowledgeable and decisive than me to give me a final answer to my trouble, lol 😄⚘
You're so welcome! SC becomes an ID where many people get stuck because we might think it's about "being balanced and a little curvy" but it's actually a very specific type of balance
I would let that thought go (and also all thoughts about shape of facial features, roundness of chest, etc)
Wish yoh the very best with your style journey 🌸
I'm between SC and R. I'm quite overweight now so it's hard to tell if I'm a true Romantic or another kibbe type. Here's my reddit post for reference: www.reddit.com/r/Kibbe/comments/p2pa0h/whats_my_kibbe_type/
I'm 5'4 and I'm pretty sure I'm soft classic, is it possible?
but of course
I'm confused. I've been debating whether I'm a soft classic or a soft natural. I'm 5'1 and look my height. I'm confused.
At 5'1, you could definitely be SC or SN! So the height doesn't decide anything
@@StyleThoughtsbyRita So then how do you tell if you're a soft classic or soft natural?
@@sirenia1241 how visually prominent is your frame? Soft Natural have some sort of "blunt yang" which is prominent. In a SC shape, nothing is dominant 🌸
@@StyleThoughtsbyRita I was told that I have wide shoulders, but I'm not sure about that. I've been told by family that my frame isn't noticeable and that I have an elegant look.
Oh...i just now have found that i'm a soft classic...
Things with too much going on looks drab on me. Same with jewelry and hair. I used to like clothing with tons of patterns. Not a great look! Lol
Can a soft classic be 5’0? I’ve been told I look taller
Of course!
I don't like to be a soft classic because it doesn't fit my personality which prevents me from wearing what I really like.
In short: I'm not soft at all.
6:12 who is the women in the middle?
Catherine Deneuve

Hi I would like to send you some of my photos if you could help me what body type I am. Thank you
I wish I could help but I really don't think I am capable of typing people! I can only type celebrities after looking at like 200 photos and even then I'm not sure lol ❤️❤️❤️❤️ i think the Kibbe subreddit can be helpful
If I am not symmetrical in face or body, I can’t be a classic?
I don’t think I am soft classic anymore oof now what?
Nearly nobody has a symmetrical face/body so dont worry
As a soft classic I hate our recommendations lol so old lady and I'm not a fan at all... I hope these kibbe stereotypes die because I like the gamine look because it's fun and I love my bodytype I think it's great but our recommendations arent... or atleast for my style idk if other classics feel me.
I understand. I also love all recommendations for all Kibbe types. Personally, I just wear and do whatever I want, then maybe balance/neutralize it with a few SC pieces/rules. I feel that it becomes unexpected that way because it's two or more essences/styles. Actively making judgment calls when dressing is really fun 😆
Very Annoying laughing!!!
Sorry if my existence inhibits your enjoyment of the video
Envy much ahahahah
