Icons and legends will always attract haters (like how a minivan driver will hate Ferrari's, etc), and the Sub is definitely an icon and a legend. Fantastic choice.👍
I have the same exact watch. Waited two months actually. No regrets and its my daily. One of the most comfortable watches ive ever owned. I'll never sell the thing.
I think you 100% picked the right watch. Looks awesome on you, it’s under the radar yet beautiful, classy, and sharp looking at the same time. And top quality, will last forever. Now you’ve got me thinking about getting one
Congratulations on the new sub! I've gotten the call for a Sub date/no-date and ended up choosing the no-date (124060) because I already had a few Rolex with the cyclops/date and I absolutely love the symmetry of having no cyclops/date.
I’ve had my Sub since 1985 and have worn daily for going on 40 years. Had to replace band last year…several links were wearing thin. Best Father’s Day gift ever! I need another…so I can pass one onto both of my sons. 😊 Great choice my friend 🤙🏼
Saving for my first Rolex, I love "tool" watches that still have the ability to dress up for any occasion. Having worn and handled both, would you suggest the Sub or the Explorer II white dial?
You can't go wrong with either, both great watches. It all depends, if you are a beach or water person I would go with the Submariner, if you are more a mountain and traveler I would go with the Explorer II. The Sub fits a bit better on smaller wrist, my wrist is just over 7 inches and "in my option" the 42mm of the Explorer II is just pushing being to big. A perfect fit, but I won't go any bigger. The Submariner is a bit more suitable for high-end events, I however wear my Explorer II without a second thought. Cheers
Congratulations🍾 I bought a no date in February and boring be damned, it’s an icon and a tank. Wear it in good health and enjoy every minute with your new Submariner.
I also have the Explorer2 (in black), then got the new Sub no-date. Absolutely love this watch. It’s the ultimate iconic watch for a reason. The symmetry, design, function, versatility and style, and of course, history can’t be beat. I seem to lean toward the no date dial as the cyclops distorts the hands around the date area and I like the clean, balanced, pure look of the no date. However I see the practicality of the date as sometimes when filling out forms I habitually look at it for the date reference, only to have to take out my phone to check. Good for you on your new acquisition. Enjoy it among your travels 👍
I used to use the bezel and move it to the minute that correlates with the date each morning. Obviously not as good as having a date itself, but added a bit of quirkiness and was something I’d first done with the speedy (moving the chrono hand to the minute that matched the date for that day when I wound it up each morning)
Congrats! Beautiful watch! I just did a 6 month wear and tear video on the Sub and I only desk dive so I can't wait to see how yours holds up out in the wild.
Its an icon for a reason and in my mind the watch everyone compares every single other watch too. Its a have to have in the collection. I think a Datejust would be a good next move for you! Fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet!
Thank you, I really like the 5-digit and spent a lot of time looking at them. It just came down to that I could get a brand new Submariner for less that a used 5-digit. Cheers
This watch was on my list for a long long time. I’ve been a dive instructor for over 30 years and although we don’t use a watch but a dive computer I always hankered after this watch. In my eyes the setup is perfect, as I got older my eyes started to fail me and I couldn’t see the date on my standard watch. This is everything I need a watch to be. I saved for 3 years and I just purchased a 22 version, no AD had one near me and they said the list was long so I had to go secondary market. I truly don’t think I need another watch, mine will be beaten and worn then handed to my son.
@@cheynewalls Saying that, my daily driver is a 52-year-old Seiko Pogue (my birthday watch but for a month), it's an extremely comfortable watch and it's a legend for timekeeping. I would have thought you were on the list for a titanium Yachmaster. Submariner is still a "tooly" watch, but with that ceramic bezel, it does have that blingy effect compared to Explorer II's design. Submariner is great - bought two for my dad and my brother in law as gifts.

I always find it interesting when people like Federico get so fired up about how “boring” it is. Please. Are blue jeans boring? Are salmon color polo shirts which he wears in almost every video boring? Does he drive a car that isn’t made on some assembly line somewhere that looks like every other car of that type? I dunno..it’s a classic design and look and the sub is the best example of it. What’s so boring about that? To each his own.
don't congratulate me yet. if they don't come through before next april, and rolex discontinues it, i'll hafta settle for my 114060. the grey market prices would skyrocket! @@cheynewalls
That is the signature watch to own, the Rolex Sub is the most wanted watch in the World, for a good reason. Plus you're just the caretaker, you will get most (if not all) your money back if you ever decide to move it on in the future, something an Omega Seamaster can't say. Beat it up, it can easily be polished to near perfect years from now, though I rather prefer the patina.
Wait no waiting list anymore?? I’ve been over a year on waiting list so ended up buying grey since prices are better now…I’m now over 3 months on the list for a pepsi that i know they would never call lol….
One month, holy crap! Congrats. I’m on the waitlist since this March to celebrate a milestone coming up next July, and I’m already getting impatient lol. I guess when it comes it comes, absolutely refuse to pay 50% higher on the grey market.
Hi bro, super vedio, I just recently join your chanel & vedios, I'm in progress to purchase one of rolex sport watches. as you owner of rolex submariner & explorer 2, kindly advice which one I should go. Note that my daily ware watch is omega speedy (42mm, I like the size and weight ), my wrist is 7inch and my outfit is smart casual and casual.
@@cheynewalls 100% that's actually what I meant. Everyone has it because it's a reliable daily. Some just look to be a little different. That's the rootbeer, or the YM, etc.
Bought also a New Ceramic 41mm Submariner Date about 3 Months ago, but got bored of it after a couple months. So decided to sell it (for a small profit) and bought a new GMT-II Master Batman (2023) that I fortunately got at retail price from my Rolex dealer: I’m in love with this watch !! Definitely it was the best decision made 👌🏻
Either you got really lucky or my AD is pulling a fast one on me. I've been waiting for a SS Rolex for several years now, even after purchasing a solid gold sub from an AD, I find I'm getting no calls to pick up my SS rolex.
@@cheynewalls they’ve offered me every solid gold piece in the Rolex line up since I’ve bought my grail piece. Only SS offered since was the James Cameron deep sea. So yeah maybe this AD is giving me a run around bc they are offering me the Uber expensive solid precious metal pieces only.

If you can only afford one watch then make it a Submariner. I find it funny that Fed says he doesn’t like them but I bought mine from him. Great dealer and excellent customer service from Delray Watch Co. but Federico has made it clear he’s not a fan of Rolex period.
3:05 no waiting list for a Rolex submariner anymore? Myself (3 year wait with AD) and Scratchy (2 year wait with AD) who runs the utube ‘The MainSpring Show’ livestream, we both don’t agree with you, as as have been waiting for the Submariner no-date
Well first this video is over a year and a half old, so things changes. As well as it depends on a lot of things. I had a friend last week walk right in and pick up a Rolex Submariner no date, no waiting. Another friend was quoted 6 months to a year. Its all over the place.
@@cheynewalls the person who walked in and bought no-date sub did they have purchase history? I refuse to buy thing I dont need from AD - i just want the watch i want, and dont want to buy from grey-market incase buy a fake/super-fake

@@michaelriera6277 I don't mind the taper to 14mm; I own a 3861 Speedmaster which also has an aggressive taper, so I'm used to it. The dimple originally bothered me, but apparently my coworker's Datejust does something similar.

Well done. Picked my Sub up from the AD last week, been waiting two years for it but it was worth it, absolutely love it. And they aren’t experts, they’re dicks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you like it then other’s opinions mean nothing at all as it’s your choice.
I don't know where you live, but here in Brisbane I might not get my 124060 No Date for 1-2 years. Anyway, Rolex have nailed the design of the latest submariners. Every other homage is never aesthetically quite right in comparison. It is a thing of beauty and I can't wait to get mine. #thehourglass_official
Boring?A w*****s watch? No,this is the ultimate tool watch.Thats why I own two.I think those other bloggers are just jealous and are talking through their a**e!
I don’t know what this gives you that a black bay, 58 or 54 does not give you worse. I don’t know what it gives you that an omega sea master gives you, and if I’m being brutally honest there are probably other watches just as good for a third of the price. It’s a steel sport watch that is wildly wildly, overpriced
Well a date window for one. I use to think the same thing, until I got my Rolex Explorer II. Speaking from experience, I pretty much living out of a tent for half the year in remote areas. All my other watches from Omega, Breiltling and Panerai broke on me in less than a year. Not my Rolex, its been dropped, hit against rocks, put in -30f degrees and up to 130f degrees temps, put through hell. It keeps ticking "extremely accurately". Being brutally honest, if you don't have or use a Rolex sports watch to the absolute limit you don't know how good they truly are. A watch that can endure all this punishment, while also holding the ability to be worn with a suit to an "upscale" event is pretty special. In my personal opinion I would rather pay 10k for a watch that can do all this and will last forever, over 6k for a watch that will last me a few years. That all being said, if you are going to use the watch in a more "tame" way, yes it might be a bit over priced and other watches can match it, but that up to the individual. Cheers
@@Robert-vw3od There alot of tough watches, but have you personally tested it or are just reading from the box? Coming from actual experience I disagree.
@@cheynewalls i’m sorry, but this does not stack up to the reality. I am amazed that you have broken those other watches because I know scores of people who own them. every major watch manufacturer, sekio for instance has been been to the top of Everest and to outer space. The same can be said of a Casio G-Shock. Historically, The Smiths Everest worked perfectly well at the summit of Everest and of course vulcain as well as being worn by presidents was the watch worn by the Italian team that conquered K2 - this is a far superior achievement, The Hamilton field has been worn in the scorching heat of the desert, and the freezing chill at the North Pole. indeed, Tudor were very keen to make the point with the launch of the Ranger about their watch being worn in the Antarctic. famously a citizen, pro diver survived a number of years in the sea of Australia, and was still able to work. plenty of watches are equal to Rolex in terms of durability when it comes to freezing temperatures heat rough handling and being taken to inhospitable locations.

To each his own.
lol, well put. You know a lot of it (I think) is for views and Rolex bashing is getting a lot of views at the moment. Cheers
Fantastic watch . I have a large collection but this is my go to , fits into every occasion 👏🏻
Indeed, an epic watch. Cheers
Rugged, classy, functional this is their best watch
A absolutely killer watch.
congrats man! our ad has confirmed the green bezel sub is next for me.
Hey Congrats, Cheers
don't congratulate me yet. if they don't come through before next april, and rolex discontinues it, i'll hafta settle for my 114060. the grey market prices would skyrocket! @@cheynewalls
@@cheynewalls @QuickerThanDrawing2822 - did you get it? did you do an official unboxing of it on Watch Hangout (JJ’s / Duco’s)?
That is the signature watch to own, the Rolex Sub is the most wanted watch in the World, for a good reason. Plus you're just the caretaker, you will get most (if not all) your money back if you ever decide to move it on in the future, something an Omega Seamaster can't say. Beat it up, it can easily be polished to near perfect years from now, though I rather prefer the patina.
Well said, even tho I love the Omega Seamaster. Looking forward to beating on this watch for decades to come, Cheers
The sub is the goat for a reason 🤷♂️
100%, Cheers
Congrats dude, what a beauty.
Cheers, Thank you
Is it pretty hard to get a new one msrp? Congrats on the watch! The submariner is definitely iconic
An amazing watch, I love it. Cheers
Wait no waiting list anymore?? I’ve been over a year on waiting list so ended up buying grey since prices are better now…I’m now over 3 months on the list for a pepsi that i know they would never call lol….
I got lucky, only had to wait about a month for my Sub. Cheers
Awsome brother enjoy it in good health…cheers
Been waiting for a year and a half, still waiting …
One month, holy crap! Congrats. I’m on the waitlist since this March to celebrate a milestone coming up next July, and I’m already getting impatient lol. I guess when it comes it comes, absolutely refuse to pay 50% higher on the grey market.
@@TaylorCFP Yeah, hopefully you get the call soon. Cheers & Congrats on the milestone
You have a great collection already, I'll I can say is my next Rolex will be the 40mm Explorer.
@@cheynewalls good choice, but u think size will be an issue, bucuse I tried it won't fit my 7inch wrist.
@@redajahrami1889 Go for the New 42mm Yacht Master in titanium. Thats going to be my gift to myself when I turn 50.
Winding is smoother on the sub. great combo!!
Cheers
Welcome to the Sub Club and good health to wear it
Cheers, Thank you
My dad received two of those from the AD in a ten month span in 22/23.
Wow, I'm still hearing stories of years on a waiting list.
You have the Honda Civic of all Rolex watches. But nothing wrong with that. It's a good watch.
Hondas last, looking forward to that with my Submariner. Cheers
Definitely it was the best decision made 👌🏻
Cheers to that, GMT-II Master Batman is a great watch.
Either you got really lucky or my AD is pulling a fast one on me. I've been waiting for a SS Rolex for several years now, even after purchasing a solid gold sub from an AD, I find I'm getting no calls to pick up my SS rolex.
Interesting, when was the last time you touched base with them, what did they say?
@@cheynewalls they’ve offered me every solid gold piece in the Rolex line up since I’ve bought my grail piece. Only SS offered since was the James Cameron deep sea. So yeah maybe this AD is giving me a run around bc they are offering me the Uber expensive solid precious metal pieces only.
Grey video. Can’t wait to get mine!
Cheers
It's an Amazing watch
Indeed, So happy to have one. Cheers
Congrats!!! I have two Casino-G Shocks, Black with gold accents Steel G Shock and Grey Titanium G Shock. For the guy you show who says it's Boring-If anyone ever wants to get rid of their Rolex i.e. give it away for free then please put me first in line to receive it!!! I love BORING especially when it's a legit Rolex!!!
Cheers
Haha I knew it 🫣Good contrast with the white Explorer 2 😂 Congrats! I do think that the white Explorer II is more suited for you 😊
Thank you, Explorer II is still my favorite, but I'm going to put them head to head in different environments. Explorer II vs Submariner. So we will see, Cheers
@@cheynewalls perfect, look forward to see future videos and how these two compare.
If you can only afford one watch then make it a Submariner. I find it funny that Fed says he doesn’t like them but I bought mine from him. Great dealer and excellent customer service from Delray Watch Co. but Federico has made it clear he’s not a fan of Rolex period.
Cheers
A month for a green bezel? Try over 1-2 years
Thats what my AD told me.
@@BrianTonei No purchase history. That is the thing, it is different all over the world. I'm hearing a two year waiting list in Florida, but parts of California you can just walk-in and get one. A lot of factors.
Congratulations, I just took home my Explorer 124270 and I'm "watch high".
"Wear it in good health", as they say.
Cheers
How did you find the taper to 14mm? I felt it was too small. I also found the dimple on the center of the dial odd.
@@michaelriera6277 I don't mind the taper to 14mm; I own a 3861 Speedmaster which also has an aggressive taper, so I'm used to it. The dimple originally bothered me, but apparently my coworker's Datejust does something similar.
@@michaelriera6277 Well thanks alot, never even noticed the dimple till you pointed it out :). The 14mm doesn't bother me. Looks were any after thought for me on this watch. I'm really excited about the movement.
No waiting list now?
I'll have another video soon coming out about it, but I only had to wait about a month.
Wait times are still close to a year for most people
Great purchase! Congrats! Minor correction: the movement is the 3235 caliber. The 3230 is in the 124060 sub.
Dam it, how did I miss that, Thanks for the heads up. Cheers
No waiting list if you buy from the gray market. Most AD’s still have a waitlist for this watch. I’m currently on the waitlist at 2 AD’s for this watch……
Hopefully you get one soon, I was lucky, even with a "weak" purchase history I only had to wait about month for my Submariner through my AD. I'll talk about that in a future video.
@@cheynewalls who’s your AD? Fredric Rubel in Laguna?
@@cheynewalls love your videos. Your artwork as well. My wife and I will have to check out your studio. Congratulations on the new watch. Look forward to more videos.
@@hbmex1928 Cheers, Yeah it would be great to meet you! Just please make sure to make an appointment (email info@cheynewalls.com). We travel a lot this time of year. Also I can talk to you about my Rolex AD then, They asked not to mentioned on my UA-cam Channel.

This is the endgame for a lot of people
Right now it feels like the perfect watch, Cheers
Not a waiting list for submariners anymore? What!?
Waited a month, see my video about
Well done. Picked my Sub up from the AD last week, been waiting two years for it but it was worth it, absolutely love it. And they aren’t experts, they’re dicks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you like it then other’s opinions mean nothing at all as it’s your choice.
Congrads, Cheers to that
Watch number 3: Rolex explorer 1 36 mm or the new 40 mm. The explorer 2 needs a baby brother
We are on the same page, 40mm Cheers
I got the no-date because I can't stand the cyclops
Yeah, not the biggest fan, but I need a date function on my watches.
I love the cyclops. Aside from its practicality, it’s also so iconic to the Rolex. I do understand the cool kids don’t like it.
I'm out in California, so that might be why the wait times are different. Thanks for that info, Cheers
Make sure you get the No Date. It’s important to be at the tip of the hipster spear. Trust me you’ll fit right in with the cool kids.
It’s a decent watch but humdrum for the price tag. I’d buy it for $4 to $4.5k
Alot of good options at the price point
Boring?A w*****s watch? No,this is the ultimate tool watch.Thats why I own two.I think those other bloggers are just jealous and are talking through their a**e!
It is an amazing watch. Cheers
Nice
Thanks
Federico’s wrong, not boring!
I agree, its not a boring watch. Cheers
Cheers
@@cheynewalls lots of watches will perform in that type of environment.
A sub is an iconic watch, nice piece
Thank you, Cheers
It’s a boring take to call the watch boring.
Congratulations and my deepest condolences on your 20ish percent loss.
Not sure I understand? I bought the watch because I liked it and not planning to sell it. But if I need to, I could sell it for a 20ish percent gain.
What an odd comment.
that one dude is the Merriam-Webster's definition of a "wanker" 🤣
haha, Yeah he seems like a nice guy, I do enjoy some of his videos with those others guys (About Effing Time). I do however find it funny that he is calling Rolex Submariner wears "wanker" but then he goes and arm flexes in there video intro. The biggest "wanker" move ever. Cheers
