I just installed this last night after watching some of those earlier videos and seeing the discussions on the rolling cache. I deleted mine, but left the rolling cache setting on. I wasn't looking extremely close (weak pc = low LOD anyway), but everything I did see seems to be working fine.
i haave a big issue, even when disabled and i checked the host file, i still have google maps texttures than randomly appear on the sim with different colors and it looks horrible i have no idea how to fix it... hope you can help me..
I no longer use this because of issues I had with textures even if I turned it off there were weird textures and low res stuff and the only way i got it back to normal is a complete reinstall of the sim sorry to say.
I have used this mod, I think is very good but now I have no access to Google Maps Satellite or Google Earth via web: it is total black... It seems that my pc can't comunicate with Google for recive data Any ideas?
@@2020fsers I checked. Downloading the images from Google servers you receive a time block from Google of X hours due to "too many requests from this pc"
Current version states that there is a virus embedded in the file (from flightsim.to as of 8/22/22). I couldn't install it but even if I could, its now suspect. I won't take off my protections for improved visuals. I also uninstalled the older version as a precaution.
it worked for me. but when id fly low there are patches of maps loading as you get closer, then when you get far they would go back to the OG bin map, then get close again and it would change. i tried most of them and all did the same . i decided to uninstall it and i was still seeing the effect with purple and pink colors on the ground so i checked the server to check if it was still running even though i had it uninstalled . well make sure you delete your original cache in game and install it back because it saves there as well ( i created a new cache in a diff drive before instalation ) overall . it looks better def. but i wish that effect wasnt there it only loads the new map when you get close to it
I don't use the mod anymore because of issues I have had with the rendering of graphics with the mod but I haven't heard that . A good place to check the comments on flightsim.to on the mod page and see if others are complaining about the same thing .
Yeah - 9:50 - this is where this little MOD FAILS big time! Take out those server settings all you want from the HOSTS file, but guess what - because this MOD is very poorly designed, those server settings come back and HAUNT you... The BEST way to exit this invasive MOD correctly, is to make sure you stop the MOD WHILE in MSFS. Otherwise - MSFS still thinks this invasive MOD is still running. I noticed in his most latest release, this invasive MOD no longer uses the HOSTS file in the etc/drivers folder - that's probably the BEST thing the guy could have done. Took me 3 weeks including over 20 reinstalls of MSFS to figure this out. Was getting INTERNECT connection problems, rendering MSFS useless - but - once I realized it was this monster causing the issues, I kicked it to the CURB. Now - I'm using it AGAIN! Am I addicted to this or WHAT?
Hope that works,after using the app the airfield taxi way adjacent to the hangars at EGLF (Burning Blue Designs version),has become a rollercoaster.I also found that the hosts file was read only,I had to take ownership before I could save the edited version............................................................

I see a rainbow speckling on the 'new' maps (new Bing) and cannot seem to get rid of it if it stop the mod and clear the cache or remove the mod, have checked the hosts file, all good. Any suggestions ?
No. Thank you but no. I prefer sim stability over weird crashes or popping tiles etc. I have very powerful PC, all set to ultra on 2k res, 2k monitor and sim performs amazingly. No need to constantly look for some map mod instead of enjoy flying. But anyways, thank you for your time and effort to make this video
It's strange with msfs I think how the mods and applications really act differently on everyone's pc . Like your case with the issues of popping tiles . It would be nice if someone could figure this out .. sorry you don't have a good experience with this mod so stick with what works and enjoy .. thanks for the comment
it´s like invent the wheel again. flying with lots of clouds on the ground, CTDs with no connection issues, 20XX googles logo, etc. this makes the sim ugly.
It's strange how everyone has a different experience with this. The only issue I had was the tiles saying google I wanna try the updated Bing maps and see if they are any different.
I not doing one because depending on your location each map has its own perks I would try them out for your region you fly and see what looks best for you.
I have had that issue before, also with Google showing on tiles not good but now I'm interested in trying the new Bing maps and see if I get better results. I haven't tried it yet but I will .

when downloading I accidentally denied access for something and when I try to download google maps, this came up. This map server need license, please active your license first. How do I activate my licenses?
since this morning the error appears to me a message that the connection to the remote server has failed I don't know how to do it, yesterday everything was fine I deactivated everything firewall and the rest but nothing
I'm not sure about the issue . I stopped using this mod . You may want to comment on the flightsim.to page for the mod and maybe the developer can give you a solution.
I haven't tested them all out yet just the 2 different Google servers for me the khm server is way faster but I really want to try the updated Bing maps and test. Yes you start the mod first and hit the start button in the mod before you open msfs. Thanks for the comment 👍
@@2020fsers thanks my friend you are the man. also if i purchase a plane from justflight i know it goes in the community folder so if msf has an update can i just go to community right click and move to desktop so i can then update msf and then moce the community folder back is that how that works? hope im explaining this right lol
If you purchase a plane from just flight most of the time it is an installer exe that auto install the mod for you . So if you have an update just download the new Installer run it then it should give you an option to uninstall the previous version run that then run the installer again and it will now install the new version in your community folder.
@@2020fsers im sorry i meant if you have any mods can you just move it to the desktop until youve done msf updates. for example sim update 10 will be coming out and i dont want it to interfear mith my mods in the community folder. i heard you can also rename the community folder but i think its just easier to move it to desktop and then move it back after updates done is that right
Oh oh yes I make another folder on the desktop name it whatever and I move all my community folder contents to the new folder I just created on the desktop after the update I move it all back . Addonlinker is also a great tool .
Use file explorer to go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ right click and choose New / Text Document right click on New Text Document.txt and choose Rename rename the New Text Document.txt file to hosts do NOT name the file hosts.txt just name it hosts
Thanks for the comment. This is not a Google map mod it is the map enhancement mod as I go over many times in the video, title , and description . So I didn't select the Bing server to activate Google I selected Bing to activate the Bing latest maps as it shows in the video.

In other videos on this Mod the MSFS rolling cache is discussed and is disabled and deleted. Is this no longer necessary?
The rolling cache in msfs needs to be off I believe I had a pop-up or something in this to say that ,I could be wrong .

Oh wow I guess they are cracking down . Switch to new Bing maps instead they are updated from the sim may be a better option idk.
Tried it with different servers, no good :( got CTD on every server. Perhaps it does not like my VR :D

If you need to edit the hosts file but aren't able to save your edits try opening your editor of choice in admin mode.

I only had that issue on the Mt server of Google I didn't seem to have that issue with the other one but I haven't checked all of them out yet .
Try deleting your rolling cache.

I think it does but i can be wrong
when i use it with apple maps one i get put to offline mode saying badwith too low put to offline mode when my internet is great

I am getting a “Can’t find host file” message on start up. The FAQ page says to create a new empty one using notepad. I don’t know how to do that.

Just tried the Bing map and after about an hour it crashed the sim
yep same here, nothing more frustrating than doing some long flights with the sim crashing.
I get that normally lol so wouldn't be able to tell any difference 😅. And that stupid memory error and crash .
Could be the cache, I'll try it with it turned off.
Yea make sure msfs cache is off and try with mod cache on and off.
