I love how Edith always let Archie lead his family and huff and puff his way through it, but when it was something important to her, she knew how to get to her husband's heart. ❤
Archie is so full of himself here. He reminds me of Trump. Not of good character frankly.
@BrianCarnevaleB26 I get what you're saying, but I see something different in Archie. We get glimpses of his humanitarian side now and then and it tells a different story.

Edith Bunker was such a kind and sweet person. I loved her as a kid.
Many years ago, my dad complained about my mother's handling of the bills. So she handed the bills over to him along with the money and told him that from now on he could handle it, One week later he handed the bills back to her sans the money. Turns out he blew it all at the racetrack. He never complained again.
Gambling is in the same category as drinking and illicit narcotic use.

I love how Edith put Gloria in her place - Gloria has no right to tell her mother (or anyone else for that matter) how to conduct their life. And I LOVE how Edith took care of the situation - I don't care what anyone says - Edith is the smartest, most empathetic character in that whole series

Whenever I have a bad day, I watch this show and die laughing at Archie. This show was so wonderful back in the day.
The moment Edith said "Archie I could forgive you for hitting me, but i don't think i could ever forgive you for making me hit you" spoke volumes. That showed just how much he had hurt her by lying and breaking a promise.
