the best timing on this guide, considering I just got my revelator dynamic installed yesterday and found myself a bit confused on the documentation for it. (not a knock against the docs, I just find real-time visual guides easier to parse than pages of text with images). looking forward to really getting into the weeds on the submixes this weekend, and give into studio one to fiddle with EQ
After setting up and saving your settings in the Revelator Universal Control software do you need to run the app every time you use the mic/interface? Or do the settings save to the device itself? Do the presets "stick" if you move the mic/interface from one computer to another? Does loopback work without the app running in the background? Thanks!
The presets are stored on the device, so they will stay even if you connect it to another computer. You don't even have to have Universal Control installed on that other computer. I got a Revelator specifically for this reason - to have a mic with an audio chain on my work computer where I'm not allowed to install drivers or software. When you use it on a computer where you don't have UC installed you're limited to what can be changed with the physical controls on the mic.
Been waiting for this one for awhile and I'm stoked you finally were able to find the time to put it out. I got interested in this device, despite having a perfectly good Motu M4, almost solely because of your enthusiasm, and when Bandrew threw in a good recommendation, it sealed the deal. I've been happily using it since Sweetwater sold me the demo unit they had that with a $20 coupon I had, just made the deal impossible to pass up. But I have not really used it to it's full potential as I waited for someone I trusted to really break it down in old guy palatable fashion. So thank you thank you :) Oh yeah...definitely can confirm you want to have a Fethead or such with an SM7B. Definitely some noise without it.
Great review! Been loving my IO24 for a while now. Confirming there is YT video out there that shows how to eq your mic using Studio One. Real simple stuff. Record a sample then apply same FAT channel and play around. You can then export the profile and load into the Universal software which is brilliant!
Another good tech guide. Am I the only one that kept getting distracted by the CN shirt and how it made me think of his hair looking like Lee Kanker's from Ed, Edd, n Eddy?
well done. good job revealing the untapped capabilities of consumer grade home studio equipment that the technicaly capable yet financially immature budding artist working hard at creating their own studio setup are stuck.
So I would actually like to use this interface when I'm on the road but I'm wondering if it's possible to use the DSP through the headphone monitor without recording it in the DAW??
I really appreciate all your videos! So much knowledge and experience!!! I have to say, probably to my ears, you always sound "muddy", like more treble is needed, but since I don't have my eardrums it might be only me :)
After clicking on my audio interface - the mixer does not open up, rather nothing happens… like shown in your vide at 1:46mins. I am using Windows 10 64Bit and presonus Audiobox Go 2X2. please help.
I plan on mounting one underneath my desk so the front panel on the io44 would be more ideal along with the added IO, have you found any quality differences between the two for streaming though? I use a Shure SM7B. Currently have the GoXLR but not a big fan of how much of my desk it takes up.
Hey man, been watching your videos for a minute now and was wondering. Could you do a video on the io24 and how you could use it in a 2 pc setup? Thanks.
IO24 has no extra inputs so you can run a line out to your second PC via the main outs, but there’s nothing to directly bring another PC into it for dual PC
You alluded to this in the video, but I wanted to see if you might confirm for me. When used with gain-hungry mics like the SM7b, do you also get a lot of hiss (usually at gain settings of 20-29 dB) and/or RF noise (at settings of 30 dB or more) if you aren't using a mic booster? I've been going back and forth with support about it and they want to RMA it, but I strongly suspect that it's just a design problem that isn't going to get fixed and an RMA would be a waste of time. With a FetHead, I'm perfectly happy with the results, so I don't feel like bothering with an RMA if they aren't going to fix anything.
I don't get any hiss with the SM7b as long as gain isn't at max 60dB If you have the original batch of io24, they had a noise problem that they've fixed with a hardware swap
Hmmm, this is with the io44 that I've got. I was just curious because you mentioned the preamp wasn't very clean with the SM7b. Maybe I'll try the RMA after all, then. Once I normalize the signal, it's a pretty obnoxious amount of hiss with the MV7. Thanks!
Sweetwater sent me a replacement, but it is exactly the same in every way. Basically, the closer you are to 0 (so 1, 11, 21), the less hiss you get, whereas the closer to 9 you are (9, 19, 29), the more hiss you get. Up until you hit 30, then I start getting RF noise regardless of what cable I have plugged in or if the other end is even plugged into a mic at all. Maybe I'm just really unlucky with two faulty units, but if you do a full review, I'd suggest listening really closely for that. For me, it makes a FetHead/Cloud Lifter a mandatory purchase for low sensitivity mics.
What is this ACL plugin for OBS of which you speak at the 7:24 mark? I can't find anything on it via any search. As someone who bought the iO24 for use with both a microphone and guitars, that is a plugin that would come in handy for me. Please and thank you.
@@EposVox looking at it, that may be just what I'm looking for. Thanks! It was a bit hard to tell exactly what you were saying in the video, so greatly appreciate the clarification.
Does anyone running iOS Sonoma know how to fix the "No Devices Available" issue in Universal Control? I'm operating with: M1 Pro Macbook Pro High-powered USB Hub Presonus revelator iO 24
Well it's not noisy, as was clear in my review. But as clearly stated multiple times and demonstrated through what the software showed, I was showing it with the IO44 interface for this video...
I have a Presonus Studio 24c and I love it, but there is one thing I still can’t figure out. When I use it with ANY OTHER software or games on Windows it comes through as mono, but when I use it with Nvidia GeForce Experience Instant Replay it will only come through stereo in the left ear. Has anyone found a fix for this yet? Edit: He just said that windows only sees it as a stereo device as I was typing this, so I guess not…
Thanks for the help, guys, but my interface doesn't have separate stream mixes so I think I'm stuck with left ear recordings until I can upgrade to a Revelator Interface.

how does it work if i want to use my own audio dac for output, and not the built in headphone out or main mix?

Does it save the presets for DSP changing PCs?
i.e.: goin to a LAN event where you have to use the host's PC
yes
Is there anything out their button wise that can control the software. Stream deck or touch portal wise?
Someone in the Discord has been building a Stream Deck plugin for it
You can run UC Surface on a mobile device to control any Revelator product if it's connected to a computer on the same network.
