Just a little update I have been adjusting the expander a bit. I’m a very heavy breather not helped by vaping and being lactose and I won’t get started on what my fav foods are 😂. I clearly need to make some life style changes but editing out my heavy breaths has been a challenge for me with my videos. I’ve often found gates too aggressive and couldn’t get the expander quite right on the revelator devices. To fix this I have used the frequency analyser in adobe audition to see what frequency my breaths start at which is around 100-200hz. Setting a key filter to 175 in the expander has massive reduced this and I’ve now changed the attack to 10ms but left the release at 500. Although my breaths are still slightly present I’m much happier with expander now.
I think your release needs to be bumped up to higher than what is on this vid (700?). I can hear the disruption of the release and its jarring to listen to. Maybe you have kept it lower to hide the hiss of the mic you have been mentioning? Just not good to hear there is a hiss on the mic not related to background noise.
@@OfficialMyMindset will do I’m adding a gate after to try and cut my breaths out I think that’s what I’m messing up here. But will certainly look at extending the release on the expander now I have the key filter how I like it. I’ve contacted presonus about the hiss so hopefully they get back to me soon.
@@thefullsetup The vid you linked sounded way better bar the hiss of the mic. I think the revelator would need a built in Mic Suppression in the DSP (something like the RTX voice). I wonder if they would add that in, or if it was even possible at this stage.
I got a revelator, Love it, it´s an amazing micrphone that just works, everything designed with thought ! Im a Universal Audio apollo user, so dsp solutions like this are very welcome. Pro results, reliable, and fast. I dońt have time to waste on setting if you get me. GREAT review btw
Hi. I'm interested in using StudioOne's fat channel to emulate all of the settings available on the Revelator Mic Fat channel so that I can audition and tweak the settings in DAW and then drop them into the Mic. I'm a musician and I plan on using the revelator on the road to record vocal sketches. I want to make pre saved settings for different vocal styles that I can easily move through when composing. YOu touched on this a little bit in the video but I have a few questions.. Firstly, the mic has the "voice" channel that has effects. Does the DAW fat channel have that? Also, I just downloaded StudioOne Artist and didn't see a fat channel right away. When I went to search for it in the effects available for download, all kinds of results came up, most requiring purchase. Is this something I'll have to buy? Sorry about my ignorance.. I'm a Logic and Ableton user primarily.
Thanks for this video man. I just moved over from a simple headset mic attatched to my DT990's and got a Revelator Dynamic. Before I was messing around with Voicemeeter Banana+Reaper VST but was never really satisfied with the results. Now with the Revelator the voice out of the box differs in worlds! Im so glad I got this over the BEACN Mic (I also ordered one, but after some devestating reviews I canceled it). Long story short: Im super new into the "bigger" game and the hardest thing for me is messing around with the EQ, maybe any recommendation to start as a beginner in EQing? I dont have any previous experiences how I would like to hear my voice like. Actually I just copy your and some other YT settings and mess around with these 😅
Honestly I’m still a novice when eq is concerned but I am someone that believes less I more and like subtle changes, as mentioned in this video always cut before boost. Ideally record some audio into another programme like adobe audition or just anything that’s has a parametric eq. Then to some tight q boosts to find sounds you don’t like then cut those frequency’s. I’d check this video out as it will really help you get a better idea about eq ua-cam.com/video/7H3cHfV8rXI/v-deo.html
I ordered a BEACN and once I saw the Presonus video I made sure to get order one. I never bothered with opening the BEACN box and I returned it the next day. A week later I was a happy owner of the Presonus. It definitely is much better than the RHODE NT USB which I was using but I still need to get the hang of using the effects to get the sound I want.
Were any of you aware of the even more powerful interface Presonus put out years back, the Audiobox 22VSL. Picture the io24 with DSP available on each and every channel, not just the two inputs, and two channels of effects processing. It many ways it was even BETTER than this is. This has superior routing, but ....
No Issues with both devices plugged in at once. you can only access one device at a time through universal control but the switch between the two is pretty instant.

Had to test it. As @thefullsetup said. But you can connect and manage another device remotely from an supported tablet or another Windows PC or mac, at the same time. If you where able to trick the launcher to open two times somehow, you will probably be able to manage both devices from one computer.

Thank you for this very useful run-through

Copy and then adapt and you're on track, I have the io24 and am very fond of it so far.

Did presonos ever come back to you about the hissing
No
what does key listen mean?
I only seem to have 3 bands in my standard eq instead of 4
Every time I save my “preset” and reset my pc it doesn’t save…
What happens when you run this and an IO24 at the same time?
