Thanks for your content❗ it's a grand reference for work in suspensions and you explained all details. I hope u can continue making videos of this kind. Greeting from Chile ❗
Thank you very much for the kind words. The plan is to keep making these videos. I just wish I had more time to make them more often. Unfortunately, the money they make barely pays for the electricity that the studio lights generate. Until that day comes, I'm going to need to keep my job 😉
Thank you sir. FYI, I have a 2024 model. I plan to create two videos: one on bleeding only and one a full service. Just FYI in case they're useful later. 👍
When trying to take the clip out of the rebound knob look at the exterior around where the clip sits. One of those cut outs has a very small hole you can use to push the clip out with a pick. Makes the process easier. Thanks for the video
Thanks for your comment! I'm happy to hear the video will come in handy. As a side note, I'll be releasing a 2024 X2 service video soon. It'll feature some valuable insights that I originally recorded for this video but ultimately removed during editing
Tough to service x2's with the pre-2024 bearing... You know air will get into the oil in no time. Some people say 150psi+ in the IFP extends this time but the bearing seal is the weak link. Wild it took fox 3 years to figure it out!
Agreed. Though some people get far more life out of them than others, untimely, they will aerate sure. I had recorded about 4 minutes of intro explaining this and ended up removing it from the final video (along with about another 25 minutes of footage). My plan is to go over this in the 2024 x2 service video I will be working on soon.
I'm glad to hear this will be helpful. As a side note, I'll be releasing a 2024 X2 service video soon. It will include some key points that I originally recorded for this video but ultimately removed during editing
Your utube channal is one of the best on servicing suspensions if it wasnt for you i would not have been abble to service my fox forks yoyr videos help in a big big way i thank you very much and x2 shocks i im doing my x2 2024 shock in few weaks when i get the right bleed tip for hand bleed i have a utube channal its called mtbandy if u see my fox 38 service its your videos that made me want to do it and i love the way u explain all the tools before diving into shock thank u for your utube videos
Thanks for the kind words it I'm happy to hear that the videos have been helpful for you. I have a 2024 x2 on the bench that I will be making a video on. I just need a bit of time as I have some other stuff I need to take care of first. The video should be posted within a month if all goes well. I plan to work on a fox 38 as well. It's just a question of timing. 👍
Cant wait to see the fox x2 service on the 2024 shock cause thats the same one i have ive got all the tools to do the job just waiting in seal kit then i can rebuild shock up
Great vid as usual. These shocks are pain to work on given the cost of all the "bespoke" tools needed. Fox constantly try and make it awkward to service their own stuff with the constant changes. I've about 10 different sets of vice jaws for various new standards over the years.
Thanks for the feedback. I totally agree. Fox's tool prices are absurd. Thankfully, there are now third-party options. There's a seller on eBay offering precise CNC tools at reasonable prices. Their complete X2 tool kit is around $100, which is significantly cheaper than Fox's lock ring wrench alone. In my opinion, Rockshox has put more effort into making their products easier to service. This is a great move, as it makes it more likely that people will maintain their own gear, resulting in a better riding experience 👍
Thanks again for such a great video. Where did you get those soft jaws with a flat side? They look very nice and would love acquiring the same. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words. Those are Rockshox Reverb vice blocks. They're quite useful, but unfortunately, the price has skyrocketed over time. There are 3D-printed poly versions available, which I haven't personally tried, but I imagine they would work just as well. Hope this helps
@@zoubtube I design and 3d print my own for shafts, they work well and are really inexpensive. But they don't really work for flat stuff. I found those rockshox clamp in Europe for 40$ plus 5$ shipping. Not too bad
It will cavitate in no time, it's a faulty line, been silently recalled. While i waited for my new X2 from Fox dealer, i just said f it and bought EXT Storia V4. Best decision i ever did.
I had some footage that touched on this Generation X2's aeration issue, but I ultimately cut it for the final video. I'll be covering this topic (and others) in more detail in my upcoming 2024 X2 video. It's a real issue, but it's also inconsistent. Some riders will notice it right away, while others can go quite a while before it becomes a problem. The reality is, all Gen X2 shocks will eventually aerate. It's just the nature of their design. I suspect even the updated model will have this issue, but it should be more consistent than the previous versions. Only time will truly tell It's worth noting that Fox updated more than just the bearing assembly. The newer X2 design also addresses underlying structural issues present in previous models. Thanks for the comment
The link is below. The guy is in Canada and sells them on ebay. There are multiple options that can be bought individually or in sets. Prices have gone up a bit since I bought them a few years back (wish I had bought more stuff back then), but if you're in the US, the exchange rate will help. These would be ideal if he beveled the edges and added more magnets. I plan on doing both, but I keep pushing it off. www.ebay.com/itm/115153412361?var=415219180268

That is the plan but can't say for sure when a video will be posted. my guess is sometime this winter if all goes well 👍

hi, can I use fox 5wt and not 5 wt r3?
Yup! I will say that I lack data to prove Teflon's value, but some SMEs consider it unnecessary.
