The perfect father's day upload. This chip meant so much to MJ because three years earlier his father was murdered following his last championship victory. So to clinch it in game 6 was arguably more emotional for him than winning his first 5 years prior.
Absolutely, there were a lot of good teams especially in the east in the 90s , tha 🐐 kept alot of good teams and players from rings and Kemp and this 96 squad was one of them
The Bulls showed their ability to win even when their superstar is having an off-day. MJ’s shooting was woeful, being held down to 22 points on 5 of 19 shooting. However, the other Bulls had stepped up their game when needed most Scottie Pippen - 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals Luc Longley - 12 points, 8 rebounds Ron Harper & Toni Kukoc - 10 points each Dennis Rodman - 9 points, 19 rebounds (11 offensive rebounds) Steve Kerr - 7 points MJ despite his poor shooting showed his high level of basketball IQ. He knew his shots weren’t going down so he found ways to draw fouls and score from the FT line, hitting 11 of 12 from the line, along with grabbing 9 rebounds, handling out 7 assists and 2 steals to compensate his poor shooting and played the role of facilitator, helping the team in other ways. The 96-98 3-peat Bulls isn’t about MJ and Pippen anymore.
Did Rodman have a legit case for Finals MVP? Jordan for whatever reason didn’t have a standout signature Finals moment here ala his other titles 1991: A SPECTACULAR MOVE 1992: The Shrug 1993: The 55 point game 1997: the Buzzer beater, the fist pump, and the Flu Game 1998: The Last Shot
I thought D-Rod shoulda had a co MVP maybe. He won them 2 games with his offensive rebounds (Gms 2 & 6) that tied a Finals record twice with 11 offensive rebounds. MJ standout signature Finals moment of 96 was winning the chip on Father's Day, his 1st after his father was tragically murdered in '93. I always remember the 96 Finals during the celebration MJ just on the floor with the ball rolling on the floor crying (28:35) & also in the locker room. Also, he had a spectacular layup where he went behind the back on Brickowski & dunk in Gm 5 that was mind blowing. You can also say Gm 3, with the 36 pts and 27 in the 1st half. He was in a zone that game. Simply the goat. A signature moment in every Finals. That's unheard of
I mean jordan lead everyone in scoring on both teams and every player who was an offensive threat really struggled on offense in this series besides kemp. compared to their previous stats that year. It was just a defensive slugfest . Avg 27 5 4 was definitely going to get you mvp when you drew all the double teams. It was just a war out there tbh. Like Kerr who shot over 50 percent from three in 96 shot 18 percent in this series 😂 so yeah Jordan definitely deserved it. Rodman played great no question but Jordan was definitely the most important player for Chicago and still avg 27 n had to get most of the points. Pippen was second on the bulls n scoring n avg 15 points on 34 percent shooting. It was just one of those series
one of my fav FInals. Very scrappy, defensive Finals. "This is for daddy" (MJ voice) lolz. I think this was the best defense the Bulls faced in their 6 trips to the Finals. Rip Bill Walton, Steve Snapper Jones & Jack Haley

The 95-96 NBA season kept me drawn in. I made sure to catch every televised Bulls game. We will never have another season like it. Yes, the Warriors went 73-9 but they couldnt cap it off with a Championship.
Imagine those active hands everywhere that early in the game. modern players like Luka, Steph, Dame or even Kyrie will surely be overwhelmed by Harper and Scottie. And there you have Kukoc as well who could drive smoothly and crashes the board, Kukoc is a triple threat.
Based on the post-game interviews, I had no Idea that this team was so close to being broken up prematurely (Jackson's contract on the rocks, Rodman's situation was very iffy). I'm glad the Jerry's didn't ruin it before the boys could nab #s 5 & 6.
Jordan moving well w/out the ball, Rodman getting the offensive rebound and Harper/Pippen is knocking down jumpshot everywhere as you can they only gave 75pts on sonics that means bulls plays tough Defense to win 🤑🏆
On another note, I think they shoulda kep the old Finals (script) and Playoffs decal from previous years. I rem being sooo pissed they changed it that year and the new decal not showing the year of the Finals and Playoffs on the court. Early in the 96 playoffs, the decal on the court had the year, but somewhere in the 2nd round, they changed it to just NBA Playoffs. Also, I didn't like the placement on the court for the new decals either
@@kik5323 good to know. I HATED it, and the funny thing is, they used those decals for a while (from 96-02). The ones they used from 91-95 were the best imo. When you look back at the tapes, u can clearly see the year of which playoffs & Finals it was. I saw some playoff previews from 96 rite before the playoffs started where they were still using the old playoff decals from 91-95, but some idiot change it smh.

factz. I think MJ said this was his favorite Finals win
@@Classicbasketballdvds im not surprised they won 72 games plus a championship not to mention this was MJ's first full comeback
@@coreyortiz9913 factz...perfect season...MJ's revenge tour
Even tho I'm way old enough to have witnessed the first three titles, this was the first one I watched with my dad. Very special moment indeed.
NBA on NBC broadcasted by Marv Albert is always classic
How Rodman got into Kemp’s head is a beauty.
The one NBA Finals appearance for the sonics in the 90s. Kemp is so explosive.
Absolutely, there were a lot of good teams especially in the east in the 90s , tha 🐐 kept alot of good teams and players from rings and Kemp and this 96 squad was one of them

Did Rodman have a legit case for Finals MVP?

IDK I guess you can call game 3 that signature moment because of the complete offensive onslaught he had.
@@kik5323 it was something 2 see. I rem watching it live. He completely won that game for them in the 1st half. Energy was sucked out of the building
Cuz MJ was defended by Gary Payton, the best defensive point guard in NBA history , the “glove”

The NBA on NBC theme song was the best I think
Best basketball team ever by far! And the 1996 Sonics were no joke
96-97 Jazz were better than these Sonics imo. Won just as many games and Malone was MVP of the league
@@VancouverChokersJazz were NOT better defensively than the Sonics. And their offense was WOEFULLY predictable.

goosebumps intro music 🔥🔥🔥
The very reason why Gary Payton cannot accept the greatness of MJ, is this game, where his pride was eradicated by the fact of who MJ was.
Love the way you edit your videos - you trim it down but don't cut out key parts and it's feels seemless!
👍
This 96 space jam 🚀 11s 🔥 this is my favorite version of tha 🐐

Real basketball I don't even watch the NBA anymore

Upload More Chicago Bulls Basketball Games From NBA On NBC
Extraordinary Rodman, Longley, Kukoc
Chicago's transition was built on a quick pass from Rodman after he picked up the ball. Brilliant first pass
Ayo Steve Kerr is cold blooded 😂😂😂
What has happened to basketball? Watching this again has made me realize just how much Curry and LBJ have destroyed basketball as is today.
Curry plays within the offense. He knows how to come off screens just like Reggie did. He just can shoot with much more range.
Happy Father's Day All !!! 😄
Waterworld main theme...nice.
Kemp’s block of Jordan’s layup was unbelievable.

Kerr’s hairstyle is the real MVP…
