The fact that Pepa would always need to calm herself down by saying "clear skies" is unhealthy because of Abuela. Whenever she is having emotions, Abuela always says that she is having a weather and that makes her anxious whenever she shows her emotions especially when its negative thoughts.
Actually it's a calming technique
@@ShadTheSham Yes it's a calming technique but its unhealthy. She's not acknowledging her emotions or accept them.
@@memaken1344 She acknowledges them but if you spend your life worrying about every single emotion then you're bound to freak out about them
Bruno actually tells her that letting it out will make her feel better
Yeah, that’s why I love the final
scene so much. She dances and continues enjoying herself in the rain, instead of trying to push it out of the way. It’s the little details that make this movie so fun to re-watch.
You'll notice that when Abuela points out her cloud, she often makes it worse.
Meanwhile, Felix is able to calm Pepa down by just being soothing and brushing them away.
YEAH, Pepa knows when she has storm clouds, but pointing it out doesn't actually help her.
Exactly
it is the equivalent of saying “don’t be depressed” to someone.
And, unlike Isabela, Camilo or Felix, Alma/Abuela doesn't help her calm down. Instead, instructs her to calm down.
Listen, I get abuela had her own stuff going on but she was literally emotionally abusive to pepa the entire movie.
@@lemoncholy9651 Not just Pepa, I'd say she was emotionally abusive to pretty much all of her children and grandchildren, putting unnecesarry pressure on them and not allowing them to be who they wanted to be. She was quite literally ruling the family with an iron grip.
This has literally got to be the most personally torturous gift. Like Bruno could choose to not do visions, but pepa doesn't get that, the weather is literally tied to her emotions. She gets upset slightly and a hurricane can happen. Can you imagine how much pressure is on her constantly. That lady does not get the credit she deserves for having to deal with such a powerful gift.
Torturous and useless, unless she's needed to fix a drought in the valley. T_T Though I still think she and Dolores are tied for worst gift. Can you imagine touching that doorknob to receive your powers, and instead of awesome shapeshifting or talking to animals or being able to control all plantlife, you just immediately get painful super-sensitive hearing and... that's it. I would wish every day I'd never touched that door.
For real! And not only that, if people need her to change the weather (which is how she'd be useful in the town, I'm guessing), she'd have to put up with emotions that she had no choice over. Need crops watering? She'd have to put up with being upset for the rest of the day. Need a tornado to blow down a building? Anxiety, confusion, all that just to help out other people. And ofc she'd feel that pressure to be helpful, so no wonder her mood is so erratic usually, she doesn't have any control.
I’d hate to have Dolores’s gift. She can hear falling sand, rats, walking, talking, and pretty much everything at the same time
And dont forget the fact that she got her gift when she was 5 YEARS OLD, can you imagine having to deal with that at such an early age? Can you even ask a 5 year old to control their emotions? Growing up with that pressure mustve been torture
@@mintyymocha6253 Same- She could even hear Luisa’s eye twitching at night, walking. fireworks, talking, super loud music, hearing the man of her dreams wanting 5 babies 👶 👶 👶 👶 👶
It’s always “Pepa, you have a cloud,” and never “Pepa, why do you have a cloud?”
JAJAJA so true
Shows how messed up Abuela is, its like she doesn’t care about her own daughter is feeling but how it looks when she has a cloud
@@obliviousus3r312 it isn’t. Pepa gets a cloud every time she’s emotional. Even if it’s a positive one. That’s why it’s “you have a cloud”. Cause even being opening happy about her life will cause a storm
@@masteroflag the only time she got a cloud when she was happy was at the end of the movie. other than that, it's always when she is shocked, stressed, worried. basically any time other than happy
@@xeniamartin5297 she often makes rainbows when happy. Which is cause by a rainstorm ended. So she has to control her emotions to do that sort of trick.
As stressful her gift might appear to be I find it oddly soothing
I thought i was the only one-
i’ve always enjoyed rain, so i think if i had the gift it’d cheer me up whenever i was feeling down
@@anastasia_852 we can talk about Bruno but not that hurricane, who knows what it's name was
I like to think I would love to have this power but probably not, like everythinghing would constantly be wet because I would be raining all over the place
@@phtogrphic That's true
You think this is bad? Imagine Pepa when she was giving birth. Thrice.

If she could cause a hurricane because Bruno come to her wedding day...
What village did she level and how many people died?
I honestly find Pepa's powers to be really sad... she's forced to repress everything, because when getting startled can literally electrocute your own son, what else can you do?
I feel like all the powers of the yellow family are kinda negative. I mean, always hearing everything that everyone says? Unwillingly shapeshifting because of a sneeze? That shiz sounds like a nightmare to live with!
That's probably why the Abuela puts more pressure on Isabela and Luisa. Because those have more useful gifts and especially Isabelas is such a beautiful one that Abuela wanted to set her up with Mariano and not Dolores
antonio's gift is the only one that's good and cool tbh
@@ldhlover Yes! His gift can be used to help vets diagnosing animals :D
I was about to point this out. For all the other members of the family, showing their emotions was actually helping the family to use their powers; but for her is harder because she can hurt people in many ways when she does. No matter how she expresses her emotions, her power will cause chaos
@@Isabelle-hv6ny isabela is strikingly similar to abuela when she's young, and abuela wants the best for her since she's born in this peaceful time, a luxury abuela didnt have. also she spoils her a lot and so much isa kinda feel the pressure to make her abuela proud.

Her mood affecting the weather is a curse. Felix is her actual gift.
OMG this.
So true
OMG TRUEEE
Underrated
I agree. Pepa's gift is a cursed one. Along with Dolores, having super can be a scary and cursed gift too
Gonna go out on a limb here- and I'm sure some ppl will be unhappy with what I think- but I think Pepa is the most stressed out of all the Madrigals. She has to keep such a tight check on her emotions all the time. I mean, obviously Luisa feels pressured to never be sad, but Pepa is literally not allowed to feel any emotions other than ~happy.~ As soon as she lets any emotions slip through she is lectured and told to "calm down" or told that she "has a cloud." She's had so much pressure on her since such a young age and that must have stunted her emotional growth. It's also not fair that her gift is SO incredibly sensitive to her emotions. As soon as she feels even the SLIGHTEST bit of anger she starts thundering.
I also think her gift- and the pressure it placed on her- impacted how she reacted to Bruno leaving. I don't think she actually believed that he had ruined her wedding on purpose, but once he left she convinced herself he'd ruined it on purpose so that she could feel angry instead of sad. She was worried that if she let herself be sad about him leaving the sadness would consume her and she wouldn't be able to control it. I think she can better control her anger than she can her sadness, so she decided to make herself angry about his disappearance instead of sad. She spent 10 years building an untrue image of her brother in her mind, trying to make him seem like the bad guy just so that she could continue to be angry at him. Obviously this fake image of him disappeared as soon as she actually saw Bruno again.
Pepa is the best girl, I've always loved her story.
This why Mirabel was so needed. Thank god she set abuela str8. Everyone was cracking under the pressure.
After seeing this, i think camilo, his younger brother and mirabel have the most decent gifts
@@user-il4mh4fz4j lol Camilo's gift is useful, but it would suck. Imagine the identity crisis, always feeling like you're more useful as other people than you are as yourself. But yeah, Antonio's gift is amazing.
I never thought about it that way, that’s good! You can see Pepa’s reaction when Bruno returns; she not mad at all, but just more shocked because of his disappearance.
I think now that she's not under so much stress she can control it and finally enjoy the idea of dancing in the rain.
Me too.
i realized the same thing as it was shown in the ending while she and felix dancing happily under a snow fall.

We saw earlier that Felix can calm with with a simple touch or gentle words. Either he is teaching his son to do the same or it is inherited. Maybe camillo will have a child with a gift to ease someone's stress with a simple touch.
And then Mirabel ruins it
One detail I would like to point out is-
We all know that Pepa is pressured to not feel negative emotions because of her gift
She not only uses the "clear skies" thingy, but she also wears "happy" clothes. Yellow, the color that is known for being the color of happinnes, and even sun earrings
She really tries her best to be positive, but this pressure ends up making her even more stressed
I've heard somewhere that wearing that color for too long, can cause stress or anger... I'm not sure, I never wore yellow
About those earings, I actually found them VERY sharp looking.
Almost like those things can poke her face if she makes a wrong move.
Yeah, that's what I noticed as well. She wears bright and sunny clothes as if to constantly remind herself to stay happy.

It’s the “What do you want from me?!” That finally made me realize the theme behind this movie. Made me realize that Abuela telling her to dismiss her cloud, is literally like going “You’re crying! Don’t cry, wipe up those tears!”
Only thing is, it’s not in a comforting way. More like “I don’t want to see you crying! Stop it, before you’ll look bad!”
I love Felix and Camilo being super supportive and gentle when handling her cloud/storm moments
The way Felix says "yes" to abuela after she told pepa to calm down while she's trying is sweet af. 1:36
Oh and his face when her outburst blows his hat away. 😆
Felix: “My hat!”
I love how Pepa creating tornado is her LITERALLY spiraling. GENIUS.
It's incredible how well Pepa is the description of my own emotions. I am an overly sensitive person and my whole life I have been explaining my mood swings with waves and storms and such things. So it makes me really happy to see Pepa embracing her emotions because I can imagine how hard is it for her and am happy to see myself in her character.
I have borderline personality disorder and Peppa is just like my brain functions: sudden mood changes at the slightest trigger. And also, I've been expected by everyone to be "normal". Guess what fam, my brain doesn't work like everyone else's, so let me be and let me feel and work with my emotions instead of hiding them for everyone else to be happy.
@@tmalaklaryka yeah, you tell them!
@@tmalaklaryka I also have BPD, and Pepa definitely reminds me of me. Mirabel’s story reminds me of me, but Pepa’s character does.
@@AlisonChrista oh, i identify more with Luisa since I'm the oldest and yes, you carry the weight of things that you shouldn't (specially at young age), Peppa is my brain, and Isa when I said enough to my family (they all said that i am selfish when I was trying to survive, you know how BPD can push you to places of no return) and started living my life.
In my opinion i identify with so many characters cause of the same disorder, shape shifting (mirroring and creating the perfect persona) to be the person they are looking for, Dolores hears everything but speaks quiet cause everything else is to loud to let her speak, Mirabel trying to fit but it's an outcast (fear of abandonment and get her place in her group). Borderline sucks, but i heard some said that we are not borderliners but borderlions, and i love that word.
@@tmalaklaryka Encanto is great because we can all find someone to identify with. I feel like Pepa, Bruno, and Mirabel are all people I identify with. I have BPD, but I’m the youngest and I’ve always felt like the black sheep. I’m not unloved or shunned, but I’m just…different than the rest. And my mental and physical illnesses have kept me from being as “perfect” as the rest of my family is…or appears.
I love that term! Borderlions! I’ve never heard it.
I love how caring Felix is to Pepa because he understands and helps her. It’s so cute too like when Abuela said calm down to her and she said I am doing my best and then Felix comes along and says yes. THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!!!
And Camilo bringing her tea it's so cute too
I love Pepa's character, her personality, voice, she's amazing.. At first I thought she'd be the type where they have anger issues but she's quite the opposite.. I love everything about her character..
She's just emotional and trapped with a weather curse
I love her character design esp down to the tired eyes
I cannot express how much I love Pepa’s voice. It’s so soothing and holds so much personality.

✨clear skies, clear skies✨
When Felix is telling her the gossip, her face is priceless.
I just hope that Pepa's room is an open field where she can scream and storm and and just let all her emotions loose. If it is, I imagine she's had to show restraint after Felix moved in and definitely since Dolores got her gift, it also wouldn't help if she needs to accomplish things outside of her room. But it'd be nice if she had some place to feel her emotions without consequence.
I read a fan concept that her room could be made of walkable clouds in the sky
We actually get a little insight of her room while Camilo was trying to calm her, but it probably has something more magical besides that part
@@azraus2500 the water drop wallpaper, weather gauges. Her room seems so normal…and cosy compared to the grandkids.
@@CarlieSheehan I think the wallpaper changing with her emotions would be cool, so when she’s happy, it would be little suns and that kind of stuff
I’d imagine her room to look like what we saw at the beginning of the movie when Mirabel was singing about her and her powers: an open field filled with sunflowers.
I just noticed Abuella only ever talks to Pepa when it’s to tell her to calm down and stop feeling upset.
u know what, pepa's facial features are the usual faces we see in disney's villain. but i am so happy that disney made a character with such featires but with an extra ordinary heartwarming aura as her being a caring mother and a wife.
It was for the best that they lost their gifts for a while. Cause during that whole time rebuilding their home day by day, Pepa must have felt so relax and free in all her 45 years of living. With her gift gone she could finally express every emotion and not worry that she'll caused a rain or a hurricane.
And it's the same with the rest of the family (besides Abuela, Mirabel)
Julieta no longer had to cook an enormous amount of food to feed a whole village, Luisa only doing work when she can and taking time off whenever she wanted. Isabela learning what she's capable of doing beside being "perfect" and finding herself, Dolores only hearing the normal amount of sounds and enjoying the quietness. Camilo staying in his true form and finding his own identity, and even though Antonio only had his gift for a 2 days, he was sad that he lost it, but was able to be fine with it as long as he had his family. And Bruno never used his gift during the 10 years he was in hiding, so I'm sure he's more adapted on not feeling sad of loosing his gift.
So yeah it was a good thing that they all had a break from their gifts, and once they have them back, they know how to use them much better for not only for the community but also themselves
I guees Mirabel was lucky after all. She doesn't have to deal with the stress of the gifts. At first in the movie, I felt bad for her not having superpower or so called gifts. But as movie goes, I start to the downsides of the gifts that you mentioned and it was kinda best that they lost it for awhile so they can take a break.
I like how the villagers continue to set up decorations while the hurricane is forming around her body.
They be like : “Ah shit here we go again”
Pepa is literally the most underrated character in enacnto. Not screentime wise, but fandom wise. Pepa will always remain my favorite character in the entire movie 🧡
Notice that when Mirabel talk about Bruno in bedroom scene Pepa is raining like when she feel 'tear' of pround at Antonio magical gift day
.
That make me think even though she upset with Bruno ruined her wedding she still miss her brother so much and last scene in 'All of You' song confirm it for me
When you realize Pepa is technically more op than Elsa
I really don't like how Abuela reacts to the weather on top of Pepa, she always says the cloud! Not why do you have a cloud? What makes them appear? How can i help? She is her daughter! And instead of showing concern for her daughter's stress, she said stop being stressed!!
yup that's the point of the movie, that abuela was so worry about how people would see them that she forgot to watch over the family
Positive note: Camilo tried to legitimately calm her down. Tea, soothing voice, and breathing.
@@Soulxstar yep this is how i don like Abuela
I just love her relationship with Félix. She can occasionally get annoyed at him a bit (like any wife would), but she's never angry at him. He's always here to calm her down gently. He even mentioned in "We Don't Talk About Bruno" how the hurricane didn't bother him cuz he still got to marry her. I think that's just so sweet.

One of the things I love about Pepa, and this movie all together. Is while she seemed to be the most upset with Bruno, she was also the first to hug him. It showed a very true level with siblings
I can actually relate to Pepa in a way. She has a tendency to spiral and so do I. In her mind, whenever she hears about something bad, the worst case scenario has already happened in her mind, which causes her to get a cloud and start spiraling. The same thing happens with me sometimes. Sometimes I get so worked up about something and my mind immediately jumps to the thought that the worst case scenario has already happened.

Honestly, her "gift" is literally a curse. In a family where the head is like Abuella, telling her not to show emotions, she must've been under so much pressure. Even at bedroom when she's alone, she can't even cry in sad times fearing it may cause a cyclone. And I'm really suprised that she isn't depressed from never addressing her negetive emotions and burying it. You can also see the effect of burying her emotions, she gets anxious easily than her siblings, she struggles to keep her emotions in so much that her husband has to calm her down like a therapist, she really needs a therapist. Pepa is legit my favourite character from this movie, she deserves so much TT-TT

Its sad because abuela just tells her to calm down but never takes into consideration why she's feeling the way she is or help her control her emotions. She just treats her emotions as an inconvenience
just like in real life! ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
I feel bad for Pepa that Abuela has to tell her to “control” her emotions while that’s making Pepa feeling worse because that’s literally implying that Abuela is forcing Ppea to be perfect all the time. And that’s also implying that Abuela is also adding additional pressure towards Pepa.

Honestly, her issues with her clouds relate to me so much with anxiety issues. I’m trying to keep it in check to not bother everyone else. But it just keeps getting bigger.
Peppa's mood swings are the best for me XD
bruh why does Pepa have the smile of a maniac when she said "clear skies" before she sang We dont talk about BRuNo
Elsa and Pepa and the only two Disney characters with powers controlled by their emotions, plus they have braided hair.
Pepa had Antonio at like age 44, I wonder if it’s because Abuela wanted another grandchild to see if the magic was still working
That gift would be a PAIN for me
I'm pretty moody constantly
"Hey Pepa, it looks like rain"
I do like that even when her mother nags her about her clouds and whatnot, Pepa doesn't take her shit, and she just snaps back at her instead.
I love how differently Felix and Abuela Alma react to Pepa's clouds appearing out of no where like Abuela is always straightforward and kinda rough just saying "Pepa you have a cloud!" or "Pepa! The cloud!" But for Felix he is quite gentle and calm and slow going with Pepa he never ever calls her out for her clouds appearing just holding her hand or telling her how the flowers might get ruined and he is never agitated or not even a little annoyed when this happens out of no where, as u can see in WDTAB he isn't even slightly irritated or angered that his special day to be his own wedding day is being ruined by a hurricane (which Pepa was clearly bothered about) instead Felix embraces it and enjoys the day just to let Pepa know it's fine. I want someone like Felix to be my future partner or else I ain't having it bruh
Felix is such a great support in Pepa’s life.
I oddly relate to Pepa maybe that’s why I like her so much :) maybe it’s because I feel stressed so often and it’s hard for me to hide it? But also I just love her as a character. It must be so frustrating to have that as a “gift” not being able to have any emotions perceived as negative or be judged for it? Anyway I really like her, she needs a break.
Oh my gosh! I never noticed how Louisa holds her cup up at the end to gather some hail 🤣🤣😍😍
Aw I never saw that at the end she was dancing with the snow storm 🥺
Of all the gifts in would hate hers. Imagine constantly being told to calm down, or stop worrying or think clear skies , all cause your power inconveniences people. Her gift is a huge metaphor for being told to repress what your feeling so others don't have to deal with it.
Pepa calm down I'm doing my best your lucky its not a Hurricane
I read somewhere that out of her brother and sister, she's usually the most outgoing and cheerful of them. That makes it even harder for her to keep her emotions in check. That's a little sad, if you ask me.
When she says "you're lucky it's not a hurricane!" it sounds like Kristen Schall lol
“And then I ‘heard’ the name we do not speak”
BISH THATS DOLORES POWER
the part where she tries to close off the clouds in her head is so cute and funny
With that kind of gift, Pepa can't possibly lie nor regulate her emotions and feelings well. Even Isabela, who has equally destructive powers as Pepa, doesn't really entirely rely on her emotional state.
