I personally 100% agree. If that what you makes happy, just watch it, and enjoy it. I love Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, and etc, I'm not worried of what other people say. Just stand on what you believe in it and what you enjoy.
I find it ironic how we’re judged for enjoying children’s media, but those people enjoy the MCU and the like. But as the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) said: “There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes”, and I’ll always stand by that quote. Stop judging us when you’re into similar.
At least the first 2 phases were made with adults in mind. Everything in the last 3 phases are made for children, normies and "disney adults".
Reminded me of similar quote from Third Doctor: "What's wrong with being childish? I like being childish"
As a soon-to-be 59 year old who has 2 successful grown kids, a Grandchild, wonderful nerdy Wife and collector of almost every SHFiguarts Kamen Rider, I will always keep the love and wonder of Tokusatsu in me, it has literally shaped me as a person- as Ultraman says, “an Ultraman never gives up until the very end”

I actually prefer these Toku shows to other superhero media because they don't try to be super edgy/adult for people to take them seriously. So many other comic book heroes want to be more adult and mature that sometimes they lose what made them special in the first place. It's nice seeing shows like KR, Sentai, Ultraman being both silly and serious, dramatic and flashy all while being proud of what they're doing.
With that said i don't think there's anything wrong about more adult shows, it's just that they never hit quite the same as the regular stuff ya know?
Nothing wrong with revisiting your beloved Toku hero shows as an adult to appreciate the more complex details that the filmmakers put in the shows.
To make it more simpler, some people say that Toku series are for kids is like they are saying that Marvel/DC are for kids too. Remember that even if the show is Toku, it is still watchable for adults. We are viewers, we are audience, we have a freedom to watch whatever we want. Besides, we all have young at heart.
There's nothing wrong with adults watching tokusatsu series because i am still watching tokusatsu series and what important the most is we enjoy watching our favorite thing
As for me, I am mostly into Kamen Riders since I'm already an adult.
I have no issues at all with adults like myself who love tokusatsu, unless they're the kind of people who say things like "I miss when Kamen Rider wasn't for kids" or try to claim that Ryuki is actually really dark and mature, because they're embarrassed to enjoy media made for children. Y'know. Ryuki. The series with a kinda dark premise but whose main protag is one of the most sunshine boy protags in all of Kamen Rider, and also has some of the funniest episodes of any Kamen Rider.
Now that I think about, it's actually really funny that I never see the people who are embarrassed to like Kamen Rider because it's a children's show never offer up Kuuga as an example of one the darker Kamen Rider shows...

im almost 31, yes i still watch Tokusatsu, mainly Kamen Rider, heck even my mom joined in everytime I watch it in the main living room
i also dont hide it from others, its not like its an illegal thing lol
just enjoy and have fun with it
I like toku because it generally throws out logic and realism in favor of just being really cool.
it is aimed for kids, but so does DC and marvel movies, transformers, star wars, etc. They are aimed for kids, but can be enjoyed by people of all ages
I see nothing wrong with watching Toku despite being a 35 years old man. It's called preferences of entertainment. What is unacceptable (imo), is when adults, or young adults demanded that toku must follow their standards (i.e making the series dark, gritty, etc) and branded that every series that doesn't follow their standards as bad series.

When I received a question like this. I always ask back that's what the point of asking those questions. If they want to understand. I will explain the reason properly. But if they just want to blame me or just want to win an argument with me. I will just stop the conversation and let them win. Don't care at all
I enjoy super Sentai and Kamen rider. It connects me to as an adult while also being nostalgic for when I watched power rangers. It’s such an awesome show BOTH kids and adults can enjoy
I have the same feeling, when I watch Power Rangers, Super Sentai, and Kamen Rider, I feel like there's an connection for these series because I personally enjoy them and takes me back to memory lane from my personal experience when I got into Toku thanks to Power Rangers.
Just watch it doesn't matter as long as the audience respects that's it's aimed for the next generation and not make it apeeze to our adult standards. Besides it's got good action and all that so I'm sure they have a sliver of adult audience in mind
It does helps where there are people that share the same passion and hobby as you. Some even turn it in to their source of income. The problem is toku and sometime anime in generally isn’t American like marvel, so they question why you are watching oversea shows that isn’t your native language.
i watch toku for epic battle sfx & vfx also rooting for MCs like Ukiyo Ace .... mostly me personally a fan of rider's, sentai's & ultraman's out of the world story also rooting for powerful & stylish forms😊
Also can't forget their awesome openings throughout their history.

I heard that Tokusatsu is part of Oxford dictionary along with Anime/Isekai and who's knows could become mainstream to the Western audience
The majority is intended for kids but in a way adult fan's can enjoy. The v cinema and books are a way to add More adult topics for older fans in toku. Morality and heroes are a universal concept. But non kid toku I recommend girl gun lady and garo. Girl gun lady aired on MBS and I enjoyed it when it aired.
Kids need heroes to teach morality and have teachings for the greater good.
You say that, but Garo exists. And Godzilla. And Japanese Invisible Man. And Kamen Rider Black Sun/Amazons. If anyone has more adults Tokusatsu, let me know.

I've been hearing people asking me that question since high school. I stopped caring.
It's funny to hear this question, since you also wonder "are they also asking the people who make Toku shows currently?". I wouldn't be watching them still if the people behind these shows never watched and understood the history of the genre whether it be Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, or Godzilla which can only come from an adult who grew up watching them. People like Hideo Kojima and James Gunn who have been making media targeted for teens or adults most likely have been inspired by the genre and incorporated elements into their work. If the adults inspired by the genre can still make stuff for it, then why can't we other adults also enjoy it?

Tokusatsu (or Henshin Heroes in particular) are mostly geared towards kids, indeed. It's basically a glorified 30-minute toy commercial and there's no denying that.
HOWEVER, there's an X factor that contributes to its success, and that's the MORAL MESSAGE that it wants to send across, wrapped tightly in a fancy package of a Sunday morning kids show
The way I see it, Henshin Hero shows are also a form of ART and it's pretty much evident through the filming crew's commitment to the craft itself and it shows throughout the entire show
That being said, I still watched Toku as an adult while at the same time, I personally set up a mindset, a goal, a dream that one day, I'll be the one who's creating MY OWN HENSHIN HERO SERIES myself, PROFITTING from it and giving MUTUAL BENEFITS to anyone following it 😊😁
That's how I enjoy Tokusatsu Henshin Heroes and having fun with it is EXACTLY the reason why I'm taking it seriously
It's better to watch Japanese toku than the inducing superhero-fatigue Hollywood made thus far.

there is a big cominity on my contry for old toku shows showa era i say, i'm happy for that but this older peaple don't dive to much light to the new stuff thats way, i think, some peaple on my contry think is strange when i say "i like kamen rider shows or i like ultrman" peaple say " oh that old show kamen rider black or ah ultraseven i know thats pretty old" i have respet for the old showa shows but thes kind a peaple make me never want to wacht it.
Is this even a discussion (as much) within the Japanese side of the fandom? I feel like a lot of Americans at least ask this due to shock at what Japanese kids' media can usually get away with content-wise.
I believe some adults like tokusatsu because its a kids show with not much pudors for violence or heavy topics.
Remove this and adults just gone.
