I've been running the TPX 2.0 for 5-6 years now. Was thinking of upgrading to 3.0 for the GPS so good to know it's (the GPS function) not that reliable and will stick with 2.0. Having said that... I paid around $850 back then for unit and mount. So while expensive, it's well paid for itself - I've got 8 confirmed saves over the years that would definitely have been expensive fines and demerits. It's given me plenty of other detections but I just wasn't speeding or the patrol were already engaged with another motorist. Besides there's no other bike option out there so luckily these work well. Thanks for the great review.
Great review, I’m using the R3 from the car on my 1000sx. I found a sandwich bag for waterproofing and a 3.5mm in ear headphones for audio work well. I’m not sure if I would see the LED lights during the day, are they bright enough?
@@captain_midlife Yea I can't update the GPS locations/database but it picks up K band below 23.900 at safe distance and KA from over 5km's so far, and I'll user mark anything that needs a GPS mark. People need to look into Radar detectors more when they own fast bikes.
The R4 definitely performs better. Only thing for bikes is you can’t really hear or see the notifications unless your staring at it and it’s not waterproof otherwise I 100% would have used my R3 on the bike
A+ for the uniden r3 they are excellent, was thinking why not use on the bike, but you answered that for me
Yeah I’d love a better option. But I guess this is the best for now

Yeah it’s really bright. I see it full sun with my tinted visor
Excellent review, thanks for your posting...
What’s your setup? Do you need to wire it to battery ?
Great Review pal, cheers for sharing
Do you still use the TPX3? Worthwhile?
How do you power it ? Usb ?
$1200?!! I got an R4 for $760 from Amazon. NZ pricing is moronic!
Yeah it’s pretty crazy. The USA versions do differ a little to NZ according to the guys here though. Who knows

Hey mate sk when you on the highway, do you not put it on nok and just run it on highway
Laser is important because if it is used on someone ahead of you, it will alert you that there is laser in your proximity
Yeah but the laser alerts only work if it’s already pointed at you. And it’s too late by then.
@@captain_midlife it doesn't have to be pointed directly at you - laser bounces off other objects and can and will indirectly hit you
@captain_midlife I have the V1- G2 - I use with JB-V1 - and Cardo
@@captain_midlifekeep a rubber mechanic glove with you and cover your real radar detector protected when it rains
@russquest8161 not a bad idea that
