How many visa examption are allowed per year? ..last time I came to Thailand thy granted me entry but warn me to get visa next time. It was my second entry durin one year
There are no official numbers listed anywhere; its really up to the immigration official on that particular day and how he/she is feeling. I have been told by expats that 4 visa entrance exemptions per year is about the "unofficial mark", but if there are hard line rules, they have never been posted or announced by Thai Immigration.
From previous reading prior to the changing of the rules July 24 I think it used to be two entries per calendar year using Visa exemption but I can't see anything on the Thai Embassy or TAT websites that clarifies what it is now or indeed anything that states two entries per calendar year. It might be there though and I have missed it. It would be interesting if somebody can find information on official sites.
I was on a marriage visa with 90 day entries. Each 90 days I had to cross the border and re-enter for the next 90 days. I had multiple entry printed on the visa for this purpose. On one re-entry the officer looked up and said too many stamps. I said I need the stamps to enter, its multiple entry and I have to exit to return and get the stamp. I just waited knowing he was tired and made a mistake by saying this. Handed back my passport with no more said. @@EastboundandUp Hahaha? What's so funny? You say, "I was flying back to Thailand, Phuket, where I live." If you want to *live* somewhere you need an appropriate visa. The visa exemption rule was brought in simply to allow tourists to visit Thailand for a few weeks with the minimum of hassle, but it has been badly abused. In the past thousands of foreigners lived in Thailand permanently by making a trip to the nearest border every 30 days. Minivan drivers doing so-called 'visa runs' made a good living. Technically, it wasn't illegal, but it exploited a loophole. Thai immigration was right to close the loophole so I don't really see what the problem is. I considered Thailand very seriously for retirement, but if they want to play stupid games like this, basically imprisoning someone for a day, sending them back with all the cost incurred to enforce a non existant rule (nothing written saying how many visas on arrival is too many), ill gladly spend my retirement money somewhere its more appreciated. This could have been handled much more professionally by the officials, like something as simple as a "Last visa on arrival" stamp. Instead, they treated him as a criminal, for basically nothing. Third world mentality...
The same is happening to me right now. I've been locked into a departure gate lounge with 13 other people for 3 days now waiting for a flight to London. We can't leave as there's armed police sitting at the entrance. Lights are on 24/7 and aircon is absolutely freezing during the day and night. Impossible to get any sleep. No bedding or showers, but we have water and a toilet. Have to pay for our own food of we have cash. Not allowed to goto ATM to withdraw anymore though. Luckily I had 400thb with me from my trip here two years ago and a lovely couple gave me some food too. Can't wait to get out of here.
They were angry I arrived on the free 30 day exemption visa and complained I had too many old tourist visas in my passport. Said visa runs are illegal, even though I've never overstayed my visa date and always applied through the Thai embassy. If it's illegal to have more then one visa per year, why do they take my money and give me another one.
I see there are a lot of comments already, but false information: there are immigration laws concerning the number of times coming in on Visa on Arrival. If you claim Thailand is your home, you would know this. You were just breaking the law hoping it would not catch up with you, because people that come on flights often get away with it. Good job on playing the victim. Those that do not know probably believe you.
@@darionwinters2542 Answered a couple times already, but I guess hyperlinks are blocked from posting. The Visa on Arrival is technically called the Visa Exemption Scheme. On the website of the Thai Embassy in London, it is clearly spelled out that re-entries are limited to 2x over land in a year or 3x by air over 6 months. It has been this way for sometime between 10-15 years when the Thai government tired of foreigners staying in Thailand without a proper visa. Since again, this site does not appear to allow hyperlinks, put the words ”Visa Exemption Thai Embassy London" in your search engine and it will be clearly spelled out.

I am not going to live where I am not wanted.
Do they fly you out to your home country of your passport or to the country that you arrived from?
They think the farang have only to pay, but not 1% rights......
U makee no sense to say thailand is your home and don't have a visa for thailand
Haha guess you're right, but that video.is 4 years old now...thanks for watching!
Not Visa on Arrival, it was Visa Exempt entry. Not uncommon for refusal and detention for those that are to lazy to get a proper visa.
Hahaha
If you want to live in Thailand go through the proper channel to get a visa like the rest of us.
@@PhilUKNet you're correct, but those full time tourists on tourist visas provide for the backbone of the economy in Thailand. They are needed more now than ever
Why would you get a visa if you are exempt?
As of 2024 can you enter visa exempt as many times as you want?
Turist visa in thiland not mean thiland is your home

That prison looks like paradise, you should try the one on beach road /soi 7 Pattaya for 24 hours 😂
Damn! How'd that happen? Yes, it was freezing for me too, had to buy my own food also, but believe the shower worked for me...good luck and be safe!
@@ViperShortz same same here, there is no rule, they just do as they please sometimes and it sucks! Hope all is well with you now and stay safe:)

Please provide a hyperlink to the law and indicate the passage "concerning the number of times coming in on Visa on Arrival". Thank you.
Is not your country so just follow the thai rules and be happy they allow you to enter Thailand.
Be safe and enjoy...

They do spell this out on their website. Seems like it's not often enforced, but with recent instances of badly behaved Farangs you were made an example. Good advertising for a retirement visa or an elite visa i guess...

@@EastboundandUp As a normal person (not Thai wife or passport) you can only entry in to Thailand "Visa on arrival" two times in a year not more.
