    This is so important. No one should be forced to settle on one doctor’s advice. Sepsis is so simple to rapid tests and treat. It’s disgraceful anyone now contracts it and isn’t treated immediately.

    A second opinion usually is a good thing (ad I say that as an intensive care doc). This has already been rolled out in Australia for a few years to good effect. My concern is the ITU getting direct referrals from families who won't know how to communicate in ITU terms for why the patient needs extra support, though it does add an extra layer of safety net for the patient.     My GPS were very nasty that I went private but this was decades ago might have changed now but I've never forgotten how the drs didn't believe me

    Patients already have the right to a 2nd opinion. Stop telling lies about the NHS.

      Yes, but their families did not, and a patient that is unconscious can't ask for anything now can they?
      Admittedly the title of the video makes it sound as though patients are the ones winning this right, but that's Sky News for ya.

      Have the freedom to ask, and perhaps granted the 'right', but the right to demand is what is needed, and clarified.
