I actually like this: from the time I awake, until I go to sleep. My mind always has some song in my head. They are random; sometimes the last thing I heard on the television, or the radio as I drive. It goes past having a song stuck in my head. Somedays, I am thinking of the same song all day long, other times, it is strings or random songs throughout the day. I am a musician, but I have always found this pleasant, unless it is a song I don't like. I have to work to get it out of my head by thinking about another song, or piece of music. I love the image that is given about a leaf floating down the stream. I have problems of letting go of the past in my thoughts, and it has caused a nervous twitch in recent years. The image of the lear/stream is very healing.
What comes to my mind😊 with "awareness" is using awareness and good judgement in discerning important decisions. Not wasteful thoughts but using this focused thought process in making a decision.

I can take it a step further. Years ago, I was at a pot luck event where I brought some lemon custard pies from my favorite bakery. The host of the event, was overloaded with food and I noticed my pies weren't being served. My wife told me not to worry about it because they probably had too many deserts. I tried not to say anything but, my mind kept coming up with negative scenarios as to why the pies weren't being served. I finally got up and went to the kitchen area to enquire. Now I'm 6'4 250 lbs. The lady of whom I didn't know was trying to politely explain the situation. Still, I had two conflicting thoughts. One said "My god, don't make a scene the lady seems intimidated by your size" The other was saying "Plead your case because you are giving everyone a chance to taste the delicious pies you paid for. My mouth followed the latter. The whole time I was pleading my case, I was observing what was happening. Thought one was saying how embarrassing this is and that my wife is going to wring my neck. My mouth, which was following the second thought, refused to let it go until action by the host was done. My pies were served and they were nothing special compared to the other deserts. Til this day, I've been on a quest to quiet my mind because of that 1 event. I wonder how many other situations I've had that went unnoticed by me.
