@YodaWithASoda, I think that would not be a good reason since it was the Jedi belief that the Sith were no more and they viewed Palpatine as an politic ally of sorts. We know better, but wouldn't be strange if the Jedi believed that asking Palpatine for secrecy would suffice in keeping Anakin's past hidden. @ Teddy Marshall To me seems like the greatest problem is that would be impossible to hide the exepcional circunstances of Anakin's arrive. He was older than the other boys on the same learning stage and came to Temple with Obi-Wan, just after him battled in Naboo and the death of Qui-Gon Jinn. The Council would either need to trust that a bunch of children would keep secrecy or Mind Twist the entirety of the younglins in order to your suggestion actually work - both rather unviable couses of action.
@Diamuid Clough ok fair point, but what if they just altered his memories so that his mother DIDNT die a horrible, painful, traumatizing, death? like have her die from an UNCTROLLABLE SICKNESS, or died when he was young.? how woud palpatine know? and if theres one thing we know Owen Lars can do is keep a secret?

I immediately thought of what Kylo and Snoke were using in the films. The problem with trying to destroy such an ability is that you ultimately have to be the sole practitioner and then basically die without documenting it. However, at some point I feel another would develop this method no matter what you do. I would love Mace Windus Lightsaber! Keep up the great work!

I don’t know that many bad force abilities that Jedi used so the worst I’ve seen would probably be lukes force repulse (or does force ghost yoda using force lightning count?). The Mind Twist is an interesting spin (ha!) on the Mind Trick and it definitely seems effective but using it warrants a trip to the Dark Side, much like the Imperius Curse in Harry Potter. I think the closest example we've seen is Kylo's Mind Break of Del in Battlefront II where we're given an insight to how he invades someone's mind and overcomes, rather Inception-like, their natural security/ resistance. I feel the Jedi would have felt more compelled to dabble with DS powers, were they given knowledge on practicing Mind Twist. The Jedi who discovered it was right in locking the knowledge away as it would have given rise to a far more corrupt Jedi Order. I think so far, Force Drain is the most evil and twisted DS power we've seen yet. There's something abjectly horrifying about being able to suck out someone's life force.
I love that Rey has flashes of the dark side to her from time to time. Just flashes, nothing overall conflicting. I believe you need that to achieve true balance and understanding.

It goes to show how out of touch the Jedi became to use it so freely during the republic, seeing their will as the one that should be followed and imposed on others. Obi Wan’s lightsaber would be amazing to have! That gives a really interesting prospective on some early Jedi philosophy, and honestly, it kinda is a great set of ideas, if you know the dark side, you can easily counter it. It’s like the first formings of grey Jedi, and possibly could have produced stronger force users than both Jedi and Sith if giving enough attention.

Telekinesis and shatterpoint were the most powerful force abilities to me. You could toss an opponent like a rag doll, or freeze them in place, or snap their necks like a twig. I think mind twist was highly under utilized at least the less dark aspects of it.

I agree with Daegen in that one cannot hope to protect against something/someone without first coming to know what it is/who they are. I do not think that Dark Side abilities NEED to be taught, but I think that they need to be INSTRUCTED on, so that one can recognize immediately when a Dark Side user is in front of them. It's not perfect, but it's a far cry from the Jedi of the Republic. Furthermore, I would think that Jedi should be allowed to learn Force abilities that intrigue them, ones that seemingly call to them and yearn to be learned. Force Lightning, for instance, can easily be used to kill, but in small bursts can be used to revive someone who's heart has stopped beating, similar to a defibrillator. It's all about how you use the ability, rather than the ability itself being inherently evil or good.

Daegen Lok was a Je'daii, not a Jedi. The Je'daii were seeking balance through mastering both aspects, therefore including both the dark and light side in their teachings to begin with.
