Wow, Neal - thank you for making this type of long form content. It was great that you had a guest who could well articulate his experience and thought process
This whole interview is speaking out everything I have been struggling with. Thank you so much for putting this out for people to learn from, I am now being seen by a PRC PT and an airway centered dentist that are both working together for my specific case 🙏
Glad you're in the right path, lm sure you will fix your issues😊 I'm thankful for my daughter dentist who specializes in airway health. Search for airway dentistry, Orthotropics and Myofuncional therapy.
Can you explain to me why creating tension in the right side of my jaw, like pressing em slightly together, helps me to shift left, to feel left heel etc? Externally rotating Temporalis maybe?
@Neal is the ALF necessary to relieve a right cranial torsion? Or will the PRI-approved mandibular splint suffice on its own? I have heard mixed opinions on the ALF.
If one has issues with the mouth/cranium and does try to fix it on their own without really knowing how, could that cause irreversible damage? I’m kinda scared
Same here brother, from my own experience what I felt is , we want to take off our attention from the side we have tension with so our body concentration is more on the non tight side
It's been a balancing act lately of PRI + meditation/breath work. Pain tends to be more obvious, and PRI has truly helped me achieve better neutrality, but even in those moments, comes some of the thought/emotional patterns and habits which I've been able to trace back to childhood; specifically around habitual fear of conflict/judgment. With that said, how much do you believe emotional stresses contribute to these complex movement patterns? I'm in a similar boat with a torsion (splint + glasses) and up and down progress. Something inherently tells me there's more to discover as to why my brain and/or body feels unsafe. Food for thought but genuinely curious on your insight, Neal!
Also your diet too mam Please make sure u eat more alkaline food ( non acidic) because if your stomach feel irritated by more acid Content in stomach, it always tends to increase pain signals Please remember guys our gut is our second brain , all your mood is directly proportional to your gut health
If I understood correctly, Matt isn't wearing the ALF to move teeth. So is Matt just wearing this $15000 appliance just to get pressure on his roof to relax his body? Is there any other way to get this effect?
I also want to sit in your chair once and say , im pain free now , im not in any pattern, i can handle some soreness in my body . I wish that day comes soon
hey - this is Matt, from the video. I have switched to playing left-handed and it feels way more natural even though I’m not muscularly coordinated to do it yet. However, the bigger problem for me seems to be wearing the instrument with a shoulder strap. The weight and pressure do something (I’m assuming) to my shoulders and chest that wrecks me pretty badly the next day - it feels like I’ve gone back into the old pattern really hard. I’m not sure if this will change. I’m convinced that modern guitar playing technique (wearing it on the shoulders and extending one arm out) is one of the worst muscular patterns you can make your body learn. I also think that the guitar should be taught left-handed, not because of handedness but because of how playing right-handed mimics “the pattern.” And I don’t think they should be worn on the shoulders. I went to a show this weekend and every guitar player was bearing most of their weight on their right foot for most of the time. Check out Joe Dart’s waist-level bass stand that he mounts his instrument on.
@@matthewcurtis3759 thanks for the detailed response Matt. I have noticed that with guitar players putting the weight on one leg. Will have to start playing sitting out without a strap and see how I get on going forward. I think there is an issue with my jaw that is causing all of issues, seeing my PRI instructor in about a month so will see what he says. I have to travel far but I have to fix this as my life is a misery. Being 24 and having this sucks.
@@matthewcurtis3759hey Mat! May i ask, how long did your treatment last and do you feel like your treatment/neutrality still sticks after all this time? Sincerest thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us!
@@clzb33 Hey there, I saw my dentist about a month ago. She examined me and said I was about as neutral as she sees people. I wear ALF nightly, in seasons. Depends on my stress level. I am probably going to start doing PRI exercises again soon, but I haven't felt like I've needed them for a long time. Lately my posture has felt a bit disconnected, and I'm going to go back to PRI exercises because they help link my body together. I did PRI exercises daily (I was very regimented) for around 2.5 years. My desire to do them / need for them dropped off after about a year and a half of wearing ALF. ALF can make me a little crazy now if I wear it for too long. My jaw is still crooked -- I think it may always be. I am seeing a voice therapist at a local hospital to work on resonance. I'm hoping that my face straightens out one day. Overall I am basically pain free unless I am in a really overstimulating environment. I can still squat all the way down, flatfooted, until my butt sits on the floor. I'm pretty okay.
@@NealHallinan Thanks Neal, what does ALF stand for? Also, I have every issue you and he described in this video, but when I was 13 I remember the right side of my face drooping randomly over the course of a month and my right eye muscles have been less active since then. A PRI certified person in the UK is telling me i need a tongue surgery to fix things but im clenching my jaw in my sleep and my eye is droopy. So is it my eyes jaw or tongue that has me in right BC? And how do i find out?

Hey, i believe I might be going through something similar. How has your case developed? Hope you got the fix my man.
I think a lot of people in this channel would be interested in Orthotropic’s.
Hope some day most people will know about orthotropics
What is that?
Amazing story
Great video as always. Can I have your opinion about atlas misalignment and its consequences on the posture? Thanks

What exercise Matt was doing after mouthwork?
Do you know some exercices to help with right torsion ? thx!
Did you take down your push up variation video? Can't find it
Awesome!

What about retainers? Would they prevent me from getting neutral?
Good question 🤔

Are you willing to share the dentist and PRI therapist you saw?
It’s in part 1.
Could it be that you feel the roof of your mouth on only one side of it?

Alf’s aren’t $15k. I hope a dentist didn’t try to quote you $15,000 for a little wire. I had one for three years for a significant fraction of that.
@@collingalbreath7331 Hey, did it work? Did you fix the dental issues causing your postural problems?
What’s the cost for the ALF?
It doesn't cost soo much , alf costs 30,000rs in India which is 375 dollars , yes u heard me right its 375$ here
I also want to sit in your chair once and say , im pain free now , im not in any pattern, i can handle some soreness in my body . I wish that day comes soon
Will you get the ALF?
please, where did this guy get treated? Can I contact him?
I need it so bad

hey again Neal, sorry for troubling you. I'd like to ask Matt some questions. Could you help me get his email if he allows it to be shared?
Alf does not expand, it just shifts teeth.
Interesting the guitar thing came up. Ive been playing guitar for 13 years and have terrible chronic pain on the right side
