The 4038 mic didn't exist in the 1930s. It was originally manufactured by STC beginning in 1961, and then later by Coles from 1974.
Oddly enough, the design was based on the BBC's PGS-1 mic (released in 1953).
Holy crap that's amazing. You might be one of the only ones in the world who knew that haha
I immediately questioned that too- I was like wait, I'm pretty sure it's from the 60s
This is amazing
Actually they put that on purpose to spot fact-checkers
Alas @@stsk7 , modern times require conspiracies in all aspects of life. But keep it to a whisper.......They are listening in..

A proper crooner :-)

@@АнтонМан-ч9к Matt Ford
Wow, this clip is amazing! Love that they mention which microphone they used as well!
Young thug watched this vid to enhance his flow
Lmao I'm actually here because of young thug
Wait what, where did he mention that? Thats random asf
Thanks for this vid. It's so rare to get a clearcut explanation for anything, these days.
they chose the perfect song
Sorry but as soon as I saw that megaphone, I said out loud “oh hell nah” 😂
I'm fairly sure the singer is wearing The One Ring
Wonderful. Cheers!
The best Christmas music is crooner music.
Go with the FLOW, y'all... BIG ups yaself - all the way from NZ... ✊😉👍
they call it the Whispering Jazz
And then the crooners came. Rudy Vallee and Bing Crosby Rising to the top, while their competitors Will Osborne & Russ Columbo faded from view
The singer makes it look easy. (Easy peasy)
Baby loves my automobile, drivin' it all day loooong!

haha yes i wanted to have a little bit of humor in this so i just did it
Okay. So that's how Frank Sinatra got that distinct sound
No, that's Bing Crosby.
Has anyone tested the TZ stellar X2 microphone? How does it hold up against the U87? It caught my eye but wanted to hear someone else's opinion.
still prefer the megaphone
That comparison isn't fair at ALL. The two covers have completely different styles, instruments, and notes! The first one had a ragtime piano, which obviously won't sound delicate or "lush." Also, the two have totally different tempo, with the first being pretty fast.
I think he had to sing fast because it's impossible to sing slow and loud without sounding like a drone for the people in the back--but that's just what i know from casual chorus classes. im guessing the style/instruments were changed to match his voice too and achieve the loud enough volume.
That's literally the point. With crooning, your voice can't be heard so they have to sing it that the former way.
@@Nothing_serious I'm not talking about what the actual voice sounds like, or how he's actually singing. I'm talking about the accompaniment.
You don't need a fast, ragtime piano to be able to sing loud, and you don't need jazz drums, double bass, and soft piano to croon. It would have been a fair comparison if everything stayed the same except for the voice.
I agree with the conclusion the video comes to, which is that crooning came about because you could softly sing well into a microphone and be heard, but it's not a good video.
Fellas, you can't talk about crooning without Al Bowlly.
He invented it, and he used to sing with piano and big band.

And yes, he also used the portable megaphone in some of his presentations.
Well also the fast speed was more accurate for Dixieland jazz in the 1910’s and the 1920’s. Also it is a fair comparison as one is not better than the other, because they’re different.
I think I hear teenage girls screaming in the audience.
Seria mejor también en Español graciss
+i leon sepulveda sería genial algunos subtitulos, pero es un programa de la BBC británica. Sería cosa de esperar que alguien se curre los subs.
