This is actually probably the best lesson you can get and it's fucking free man. Michael just talks with his singing, it's just amazing how effortlessly he sings and Chris is doing an amazing job dissecting and pretty much chewing it up for us to be as easiest as it can be to understand. And thank you Chris for uploading this gem and I don't think a lot of people have even thought about Michael at all when it comes to singing. (Speaking from myself, since I don't really listen to Michael at all, but I gotta say the techniques just universally applicable). ! Cheers Chris !
I’ve seen other reviews of Michael before. He’s definitely one of the best voices out there. Such a warm and smooth tone, I love watching his mouth shape as he sings.
I actually taught myself how to sing by trying to imitate him. Eventually my imitation stopped but the techniques stayed. I'm not a professional singer and I only sing for fun but my vocal strength increased and I landed a few community theatre rolls. Practicing all the time I still listen to bublé and sing along. Thanks for the video
1. Chris is the best source for learning how to use YOUR voice on youtube. 2. Petition to have him release a video on December 25th that starts with "Hey! Chrismas Liepe here".
You are really the best ! I've seen hundreds of voice teachers on UA-cam, and most of them can't hold your beer. Michael Buble is fantastic and difficult. Marvellous !!!
Great video! I've always admired Bublé for his skill with dynamics (especially with how he introduces it into his pop music, and not just his classic "big band" style; something I feel is often missing from pop music today, where everything is overly belt-y). An interesting aspect of Michael's technique is also the overall wide-ness of his vowels (learning towards "ehh"/"eee" a lot; for example, shown ever so slightly at the 4:57 mark); definitely adds to his unique style, but also (perhaps intentionally) adds more excitement to his phrasing since most people don't do that. Not to mention his range is RIDICULOUS for a baritone! (His low notes are something I'll never have, unfortunately, haha!)
I don’t care much for singing by myself, but I stumbled across this video somehow, and you seem like a really brilliant teacher. This was an incredible video to watch.
I sorted the videos by "Most Popular" then went to the bottom and found...Michael Buble. "Oh no". Then watched and learned. Every video on this channel is worthwhile.
This has been another great lesson. Totally changed my voice for the better. Nothing feels better than actually enjoying the sound of your singing! Haha. Please do more of these "how to sing like" videos. They are my favorite! Some requests: Paul McCartney Usher Justin Timberlake
Michael Buble has always been one of my favorite singers. I've always been a fan of his type of music and I liked that he was more dynamic than most crooner style singers. He's a great singer to study because while he's not a ridiculously technical singer but he uses resonance and transferring between registers. It sounds good and its approachable for most people to practice. This is a good one Chris. Maybe you should do a cover :)
This is so detailed! Amazing! Even better is that you are such a versatile singer as well and can demonstrate all the many different techniques the fearured singers do
i’m an African-American man who is in love with crooners like Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Harry Connick Junior and yes, Michael Bublé is my new favorite. I would love it to see how you’d handle a how to sing like Johnny Mathis. I know that shooting for the moon, but can you try it?Also, can you do some Nat King Cole?
I really enjoyed this one, haven’t dug into his stuff, but I might just have to! Would love to see a video on Moses Sumney, one of my favourite vocalists to emerge in the last few years! Great head voice/falsetto and use of breathiness
Truly wonderful analysis, there are shades of Aaron Neville I heard in the way he uses his breath. Your content is informative and inspiring and has helped to broaden my understanding of voice shaping and range. Thank you immensely! I do have a humble suggestion for you to do an analysis of Dallas Green who has a really understated style and really moves me.
Hello Chris! I stumbled across your content about 2 weeks ago after watching one of the videos you did with Glenn, and I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY when I heard your singing demonstration! I knew I had to learn more from you and I’ve been hooked ever since! haha. Anyway, I’ve been trying to find my mixed singing voice, and after a few of your videos, I’ve noticed my range has increased quite a bit and it doesn’t hurt my throat! However, every time I try to experiment and find my mix, I end up getting exactly what you describe at 13:06 . So I assume what might be happening is I’m lowering my larynx when I try to hit higher notes, but I’m doing it without meaning to do so 😅
Thank you so much!!! Please, do one about Paolo Nutini. That would be a fun one and a great lesson in mixed voice and distortion. :D I would pay for that lesson :D
This is my favourite Sing Like vid. While I love watching the ones on Freddie, Robert Plant, C Connell etc, I find it more academic and unreachable at my level. Whereas singers that are, let's say less flamboyant, I find much more accessible
It took me seven minutes and 10 seconds to subscribe to you. It was when you said you love feeling good. But it wasn’t because of that it was the synthesis of knowing your understanding of musicality and vocal description. My sister is a middle school music teacher, she’s a year older than me and we both grew up with music, chorus, and band. I always was inclined to sing and do so frequently and discarding all other resistance to this ultimately. But I did grow up with parents being like stop singing so much blah blah blah, etc. very much looking forward to your class that you mentioned in the beginning as a first time viewer.
Would like to someday see a video of Ivan Moody from FFDP. If you do that please try to include his older bands too cause he can hit higher notes in those early days.
Chris, how to do this fast vibrato that he, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, and most Jazz singers ? I can't do and don't know that fast vibrato. PLEASE ! 💥💥💥❤️🙏🙏
Do you have a music channel? I mean like orginal stuff or covers? I love your voice and style man, I'd bet it would be great. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for the stuff you are doing and don't want you to stop....I would like to hear some of your music tho haha
Chris, Michael Barnes, the singer for the metal band Red has some fantastic vocals and screams. He has some of the most aggressive and paint peeling sounding fry screams. I would highly suggest you try him out. A sing like about him would be appreciated too.
Thanks for sharing your perspective on singing. Would you mind making one about Taka from ONE OK ROCK. They have songs from different genres from Heavy Metal, to Post Hardcore, to Country(ish), to Alternative, to Modern Pop. He even did a cover of Adele's *Hello* the video has 38M views here on UA-cam.
Ooohhh great, thank you for changing up the style of singers you cover. If you could keep stepping outside of rock stars more often that'd be awesome. The variety really helps. 😊
Hey Chris! Any advice on “hearing” pitch better? I feel like when I’m practicing to instruments or other vocalists singing, I’m always hovering below or above the note because I’m trying to listen to whatever is playing.. hope that makes sense. Thanks!
Can't comment on every single one. I really like your approach to teaching but. For example, on "Feeling good". "You know how i feel" He doesn't go to head voice on a lower pitch. He is using his chest voice but in an air-y mode. He does this all over the song. Great control of false vocal chords too
Great suggestion! Yes, Geoff Tate in Queensryche no later than 1995. The Operation Mindcrime album (1988) is probably the most interesting one for vocals (with "Eyes of a Stranger" or "I Don't Believe In Love" being the singles), though "Take Hold of the Flame" is an album or two older than that and is a really good one for challenging vocals.
@@StratMatt777 dont forget Rage For Order! some amazing performances on that album as well. I agree though, Operation Mindcrime #1, any of those early albums would be a good pick though.
