- This recipe can be scaled down for one-gallon, but we brew it up as 5-gallons in this video! This cherry limeade-inspired session mead balances slight cherry flavor and heavy lime soda alongside a pop of honey to create a lovely, crushable, hydromel experience. Best kegged, but totally could be bottle conditioned. Enjoy!

Made 1 gallon to taste it out. I think I found my favourite. Making now 5 gallons :D
I appreciate your contributions to the mead-making community. Being gifted a mead kit for Christmas, I have been scouring the internet / UA-cam for info on mead-making. In your opinion, what other UA-cam presenters focus on mead-making, and what books for someone just starting?
I make something similar w/o cherry. Feedback has suggested it tastes like Fresca or Sprite, but the 4.2% ABV will slap you down.
Thank you for changing the intro!
nooooo i miss the old song xD
Yessss!!! Been waiting for this!
Great recipe! I have two batches started last Friday. Question though : I will be bottling after it is done - will the lime juice affect the carbonation? I was going to skip the stabilization step and then had the priming sugar as per std. what do you think?
Awesome can't wait to try it out!! Thank you
I saw a a gallon bucket of cherry pie filling at Costco earlier today
ordered some powdered lime to give this a go, can't really get lime juice in volume where I live. Hopefully it turns out!
Another 👏 Crispy 👏 Banger!!!!!!!
Question for you on the cherry addition. I would assume that with those extra sugars, fermentation would kick in again. How long do you let that ride? Also any thoughts on adding the cherries in at the beginning instead of after fermentation completes? I do a cider with fruit and moved my fruit addition up front instead of after ferm. Tastes the same to me but I'm not very experienced on the mead side so not sure of the consequences of changing that up. Love your work and thanks!
Great video, big fan. Quick question re; the back sweetening. Why don't you just pasteurize the mead after you are done with fermentation so you can use honey to back sweeten?
💡
I did
ive been trying to do a cherry sour forever! love it!!!
Ohh, I'm definitely gonna make this. Thanks BC for the recipe.
Please reply back here after you do, and let me know what changes you made in balancing, if any! I’m considering sweetening this up a little bit more than usual for a competition in April.
Subbed to help a fellow Oklahoman!
Taste the mead for a tasting profile while having a cold, what a trooper. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Love the videos. But I live in UK. We don't have the same stores you do. So what is my alternative I.e frozen etc.
The cherry pie filling and lime can be bought on Amazon
Did you happen to take any gravity reading not mentioned in the video after back sweetening?
How do you scale down to 1 gal batch?
Divide by 5
Really Enjoyed Your Video , Thanks ! 🐯🤠
Cheers man!
Interesting!
How long after adding the cherries before moving to secondary? And any tips for carbonating without a keg?
I'm also interested in this information please
Mine took 9 days to ferment and I racked to secondary and added rest of ingredients
Sonic Cherry limeade is great
Word!
Great recipe as usual, congrats! how much k-meta and k-sorb do you use in your session meads? is there a calculator you use?
Been a fan for a long time, how am I just now learning you’re in Oklahoma?! I grew up in Guthrie! 🤣
So does the yeast always chew through the sorbates that would be in the cherry pie filling or bulk lime juice? Figured it would be hard to find those ingredients in the quantities this recipe uses without preservatives.
Buy Duncan Hines Country cherry pie filling. It has no preservatives in it and I’m on my second time making this mead
First!!!!
💪🏾
🍻
Yeah , You got me again , Dad gum it . 🐯🤠
0:35 I miss Braum's. :(
Now I need foot long cheese coney…
I've wanted to try a cherry limeade for a while, but could never science up a recipe. Now that I have one... it's damn weird. I think I'm going in, though. It's weird enough to be good.
