Kirstin used to be the most underrated singer in the group but I feel like it's Scott nowadays. Rarely no one ever talks about him even in this song when he does incredible job as the lead singer.

And this is impossible to preform live because of backing vocals and autotune is severe in this. So, my opinion is I prefer Panic over the rest

The bass line and beatboxing are STELLAR in this track!!! Kevin and Matt coming through nice and strong!!!!! Yes!!! This is what I live for!! PTX never ceases to amaze.
I love that they used the choir from the original soundtrack to fill out the sound. It's such a huge song. I have to say Kevin's beatboxing work really well and Matt just killed it in the bass. Kirstin locking it down in the background, Mitch doing his thing :P and of course, ole Scotto rocking the solo part. I've had to listen to the "whistle/non-whistle note" (as many others have noted), quite a few times. I thought it was Kirstin since I know she has a true whistle register... but I can't tell with my non-audiophile headset. Just a solid "reimagine" of the song for sure. :)
for a new member , matt is already blooming for a substitute bassist's . the more years he is going to be with PTX the more he is going to shine man . im not saying that avi is trash , no he has been my idol and i thought that no one can replace him . but as i said for matt , i am impressed of how great he has already been doing for a new member .
"substitute" implies a temporary replacement. Matt has been with PTX for over a year, now -- and has no need to "substitute" for anyone. He is his own voice. And that voice is a gift - Just as Avi's voice is a gift. They are co-existing in the same universe. As listeners we should feel doubly blessed, not waste our efforts trying to choose one over the other. We can have both.
I may be a little biased (as being a huge Pentaholic), but I think this is the best cover on the album. I mean, this is all acappella Plus Scott’s raspy voice, Kevin’s beatboxing, Matt’s bass, Kirstie’s beautiful backing vocals and MITCHS HIGH NOTES.

What a great way to discover them, I discovered them in a music lesson as the teacher didn't turn up for like 40 mins and the singing teacher was there so she put hallelujah on and then my class sung it (with a piano backing)

Mitch Grassi is Tenor, and, next to Scott, is one of the most favorited of the group. Kirstin Maldonado is what I can assume is alto, and is the third favorite but she slay. Kevin Olusola is the beatboxer, and also sometimes plays cello. Avi Kaplan used to be base, but in 2017, quit to have more time for his family. Matt Sallee joined in 2017 after Avi left and is now base. Although, Mitch, Scott, and Kirstin sometimes take the spotlight, there are times when the light shines on Kevin and Matt, and the two are admired. However, some choose to favor Avi and won't get over his absence, but others learned to appreciate Matt. Hope you spent time to read my quick summary on what I so far know of everyone-
OMG! Literally anything! I am a firm believer that Christmas shouldn't be everywhere before Thanksgiving, but regardless, to start, search through their christmas songs. I like White Winter Hymnal, Carol of the Bells, God Bless Ye Merry Gentleman, and Hallelujah a lot. Also, pretty recently, they did a cover of making Christmas from the Nightmare Before Christmas, and it was amazing. I guess after that, just search through their music on their UA-cam channel. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. There are few songs that I have not liked from them, regardless if it is a cover or an original. Welcome to the PTX fam! 😊🎶
Start with their self titled full length album... That’s their best work overall, but they have so much material going back to 2011 from The Sing-Off to their indie label EPs all the way to their 4th holiday album “Christmas Is Here” which came out a few weeks back
Okay. Listen. I am a fan of both Panic and PTX. Great groups. Nice people. Both PTX's version and P!ATD's version are amazing. They both have a nice sound to it and both have phenomenal elements that make the song shine in their own way. Panic's version is stunning in its own way. PTX's version is stunning in its own way. One is a cappela and one is not. So for people to compare them is kinda silly, but I get it. Both are gorgeous and are worthy of recognition. Stop comparing and putting down the other and saying which one is better, when both of them are equally as great. Have a nice day :)
I love this cover. Scott's power voice is amazing, Mitch with his high freaking notes, Kirstie holding it all in the background, Kevin shaking everything with the beatboxing and Matt slays with the bass line. It's always interesting to see the difference when they do their own stuff versus when they do soundtrack songs or something. I don't know if it's them or if it's kind of required that they make it sound bigger than usual. In this song, I'm not sure if they used layering or a choir (maybe both), but it's deifinitely not just five voices you can hear there (or rather four, because Kevin is not really doing vocals). I get it with this song, because they way it's originally sung, you literally cannot do that with just four voices, but then there's You Make My Dreams Come True too, for example. There's layering there and it's not really needed, imo. I don't think that it's PTX really, I think it's mostly still that stigma of acappella that it just can't be big enough, so you guys do your thing, but we're gonna post-produce the heck out of it. That's not to say that their songs are not post-produced, but it's usually done with a lighter hand, because they also need to be able to do it live. With the soundtrack songs, they don't have to, so that's probably a part of it. I still love it though. I think as a fan, I can get kind of defensive, because I know that they slay live and it's kind of a jerk-knee reaction sometimes to think post-production bad, layering bad, because it's often used as an argument against PTX from the high-horse people. And then when they release a song like this where it's even more obvious than normal, I kind of shrink in advance, being like: "Omg, the haters are gonna eat that one alive." :D I really shouldn't care so much. I love them and I know they're talented. I don't even know where I was going with this. It's just a word-vomit after reading the comments :D :D :D. Sorry.

I found Pentatonix in the summer of 2017 out of boredom. I had heard a few of their songs and knew who they were, but never actually listened to their music. And I'm sure glad I found them. They are phenomenal in every way. I got to see them live a few months ago and let me just say that it was one of the best shows I have ever seen and will stay at the top of my list of favorite live concerts. I absolutely love them and I'm so glad that their music came into my life.

OMG! Literally anything! I am a firm believer that Christmas shouldn't be everywhere before Thanksgiving, but regardless, to start, search through their christmas songs. I like White Winter Hymnal, Carol of the Bells, God Bless Ye Merry Gentleman, and Hallelujah a lot. Also, pretty recently, they did a cover of making Christmas from the Nightmare Before Christmas, and it was amazing. I guess after that, just search through their music on their UA-cam channel. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. There are few songs that I have not liked from them, regardless if it is a cover or an original. Welcome to the PTX fam! 😊🎶

Start with their self titled full length album... That’s their best work overall, but they have so much material going back to 2011 from The Sing-Off to their indie label EPs all the way to their 4th holiday album “Christmas Is Here” which came out a few weeks back

Okay. Listen. I am a fan of both Panic and PTX. Great groups. Nice people. Both PTX's version and P!ATD's version are amazing. They both have a nice sound to it and both have phenomenal elements that make the song shine in their own way. Panic's version is stunning in its own way. PTX's version is stunning in its own way. One is a cappela and one is not. So for people to compare them is kinda silly, but I get it. Both are gorgeous and are worthy of recognition. Stop comparing and putting down the other and saying which one is better, when both of them are equally as great. Have a nice day :)

I love this cover. Scott's power voice is amazing, Mitch with his high freaking notes, Kirstie holding it all in the background, Kevin shaking everything with the beatboxing and Matt slays with the bass line.
It's always interesting to see the difference when they do their own stuff versus when they do soundtrack songs or something. I don't know if it's them or if it's kind of required that they make it sound bigger than usual. In this song, I'm not sure if they used layering or a choir (maybe both), but it's deifinitely not just five voices you can hear there (or rather four, because Kevin is not really doing vocals). I get it with this song, because they way it's originally sung, you literally cannot do that with just four voices, but then there's You Make My Dreams Come True too, for example. There's layering there and it's not really needed, imo.
I don't think that it's PTX really, I think it's mostly still that stigma of acappella that it just can't be big enough, so you guys do your thing, but we're gonna post-produce the heck out of it. That's not to say that their songs are not post-produced, but it's usually done with a lighter hand, because they also need to be able to do it live. With the soundtrack songs, they don't have to, so that's probably a part of it.
I still love it though. I think as a fan, I can get kind of defensive, because I know that they slay live and it's kind of a jerk-knee reaction sometimes to think post-production bad, layering bad, because it's often used as an argument against PTX from the high-horse people. And then when they release a song like this where it's even more obvious than normal, I kind of shrink in advance, being like: "Omg, the haters are gonna eat that one alive." :D I really shouldn't care so much. I love them and I know they're talented.

I found Pentatonix in the summer of 2017 out of boredom. I had heard a few of their songs and knew who they were, but never actually listened to their music. And I'm sure glad I found them. They are phenomenal in every way. I got to see them live a few months ago and let me just say that it was one of the best shows I have ever seen and will stay at the top of my list of favorite live concerts. I absolutely love them and I'm so glad that their music came into my life.
I enjoy this one more because of the pitch. And Mitch's voice.
