    my mom always tells me, regardless of their education, doctors are still humans. of course, they have way more in depth knowledge in their area as it is their expertise, but every single birth is different, the baby, the mom, the body, no situation is the same. you as a first time mom, are nervous and incredibly vulnerable to everything really. they are providing you a service so please always remember you, as a patient, are entitled to ask anything and everything! never feel burdened to do so.

    Med student here -- I just wanna say that you should always voice your concerns to your doctor!
    If you don't feel comfortable with something don't be afraid to speak up.
    It is your doctor's job to educate you and if you don't feel comfortable always get a second opinion :)
    Love you Naz, yalls baby boy is gorgeous!

    I work at an obgyn office and not sure how you feel about midwifery care but it sounds like you should consider it for your next baby if you decide to have one!! Midwifes are so so so good at explaining everything to you! Not to discredit doctors - they are very very good as well and needed, but midwifes i feel care more on a mental health aspect of birth too!

      Kaitlyn Martinez I second this!!! My first pregnancy I used a midwife & I absolutely LOVED HER. I’m so sad she’s not around my area so I can use her again for my son.

      Yes!!! I had a doctor and then I switched to a certified midwife/doctor. She has taken such good care of me. The care she gave me was so amazing and so attentive. She does all of my appointments and I had a midwife always doing my ultrasounds.

    Bedside manner as a doctor is sooo important and I can only imagine how much more important it is when you're dealing with something as nerverecking like giving birth! Definitely throw your questions at the doctor and dont ever feel like you didnt get answers from your visit. I'm sure she wouldnt want you feeling in the dark. I'm watching all these pregnancy videos even though I literally have ZERO plans in the near future lol

    I just had my baby girl almost two weeks ago! No early labour signs, woke up the day I was 39 weeks pregnant on the dot, went to the bathroom at 3am and when I stood up my water broke, got to the hospital contractions were 3 minutes apart went from 3.5cm dilated to 8 in a half hour while waiting for my epidural. Pushed for about 45 minute, total labour was 11 hours.. it was crazy but I would do it all over again. Congrats on your little boy! He's beautiful :)

    I’m so glad you didn’t get induced ! I got induced for no real reason other than a “big baby” and I deeply regret it! Labor lasted 32 hours and was so painful even with an epidural! I was days away from my due date and I should’ve just waited. But like you said, I trusted my doctor but now I know for my next pregnancy that I’ll just follow my instincts.

    • @as-wp1zr
      @as-wp1zr 4 роки тому

      There is a risk of shoulder dystocia when the baby is big. It is a medical emergency that poses a risk of increased morbidity and mortality to the baby as well as the mother. This is the reason why doctors don't take any chances if there is any sort of indication that the baby is big.

    • @NaomiSwanson
      @NaomiSwanson 4 роки тому +4

      as check the evidence based birth for this one. Although that is a concern, a big baby is not a single reason for an induction. Especially since inductions come with risk as well. Chiropractic care can help align the baby in the birth canal and align the pelvis. With a low risk pregnancy (assuming you don’t have GD) your body won’t make a baby that you won’t be able to deliver 😊😊

    Same I felt like I was in a competition with myself, but one thing that is true is your body knows what it’s doing. I had to remind myself that before forcing myself to do things to “induce” labor. I decided to relax and early labor came at 40 w. Gave birth at 40w 3d, 8lbs 5oz! They wanted to induce me at 41w.

    Question: Does it hurt to get an epidural? Like when the needle goes in. Also, is it true that people get permanent back pain from getting an epidural? What are your thoughts guys?

      I got an epidural with my son and honestly my epidural did not hurt at all, the only time you may feel some pain is if your doctor angles the needle the wrong way which my doctor did at first (and even still that pain was nothing in comparison to a contraction Lol). Also, from my experience I do still suffer from back pain 16 months later but my back pain is minimal in comparison to other women I know, it isn't a constant everyday thing, it comes randomly and goes away with some rest *in my experience*. It doesn't happen to every single woman that chooses to get one but it is a possibility for anyone.

    I love how you stuck up for yourself, and your baby! I can't imagine how intimidating that must of been calling to inform the hospital and your doc when you were already lacking their informed support. you were an amazing mom before you even gave birth! I hope to be that way someday.

    I’m studying to be a midwife 💜 and it’s really stunning to me that your doctor didn’t explain induction to you. Also midwives actually have a way lower morality rates than obs. I’m so happy you did what felt right for you!

    Can you do a video on what you packed in your hospital bag and then what you actually used? I feel like packing the bag is so stressful and then you realize you didn’t actually need half of the stuff after! Love you Naz congrats!!❤️

    Omg! This video was given to me as a sign! Im a first time mom and I’mgoing through the same situation.. I’m 35 weeks and a couple days right now, I’ve been told since from week 19 that I’m having a bigger baby boy.. I’ve been so anxious because I was recently told a couple days ago that I’m measuring to be 38 weeks. Im so glad I came across this video!! Thank you Naz for such an amazing detailed video! My baby is due 5/5/22. Can’t wait for your upcoming videos of your new set of babies!! Congrats!! 🎉🥰

    Omg this video had me in tears at the end! I am 35 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I completely felt when you said they did not allow your mom or your sister in. My hospital emailed me saying i can only have one support person which will be my fiance but i really wanted my mom and my sister in there with me as well. In a way it makes the delivery even more special because it will only be my fiance and i so that's what im trying to focus on. I am already feeling pains and im just so uncomfortable so i dont feel like i will make it to my due date which is May 13th. I just hope things don't get worse by then because i cannot give birth all alone!

    The best message in this video is about trusting your instincts. We are animals , human species , God built us perfectly. No amount of education can come close to the perfection of our body and instincts . This goes for everything in life . You are absolutely blessed , you acted on your intuition, you trusted yourself rather than some person in a lab coat.

    Best advice you gave: enjoy your pregnancy! Yes PLEASE DO and be patient, enjoy it! I have 3 children and I was REAAADDDYYY to pop them out but as I get older (30 🥺) you realize how precious pregnancy is. So yes take it slow and let your baby come on their own (of course if safe)

    I’m 20 weeks pregnant this week and I have been so indecisive about my birth plan and if I want an epidural. All my friends that have had a baby have told me to do it all natural and avoid it if I can but after watching your birth vlog, I wanna be as chill as you in labour!!
    Please do another video about how you decided on having an epidural. That would be amazing ❤️
