Let's see: if a student gives credit to his or her sources, then that enhances the credibility of the paper, right? Giving credit improves the grade. So if a student plagiarizes, not only is he or she doing something wrong and which may result in failure, BUT he or she is denying the opportunity for credit. The student has already found the material; why not enhjoy the pay-off?
Sorry, Professor Kay, I hit the wrong button! Here's your comment: I'll use this for my developmental writing classes--but I agree that it needs to be speeded up--plus I'd drop the last two strategies. I don't know any professors who'd fall for them! Saying you're sorry is nice but it doesn't take the place of doing what's right.
Nicely explained - but it moves so slowly I think the students will lose interest.
this actually made me mad
plagiarism has ridiculously harsh punishments. this is completely extreme and should only result in a "0" for the paper you plagiarized on.
