    Your sound as a producer is just the choices you make. Samples and sounds you frequent, that plugin you like to use on the vocal-tracks, the way you set-up volume balance, the microphone you like to use.
    After a lot of hours, days and years into the craft, you'll have had so many "ah, that works"-moments to bring along to the future, that eventually those moments lead you to "your sound".

    After many years into music I think that it's our ears to have the major impact on "shaping our own sound". Every one of us hears in different way, depending on the shape of the head and on the ear canal shape/tightness.
    If you listen to some great mixing engineers songs (Serban Ghenea to name one on the spot) you can notice a sort of common "sound perception-balance/equalization curve" in every song, even if they are of a different genre and artist.
