    I'm a Class A Driver trainer. Often we get the question of high or lower. Only you know what your depth perception is. If load is balanced and you have no overhead wires or obstructions, visibility is essential. Imagine adding poor weather to the mix. I vote up. In areas where you are sure of no over head obstructions.

    I'm very familiar with high and low. I grew up driving our tractors with loaders.i would always go high when I had to get close up to my intersection for better visibility for oncoming traffic. But almost always drove at speed in the down position. Love watching you interact with your dad. I sure miss those days. Your dad is a riot. Lol

    Hi Tom, seeing the calf's jumping around is always a pleasure to watch. Definitely keep the loader up high when pulling out but then lower it once on the road. If I have pallet forks or a bale spike on the loader I always have them pointing down to the ground too. Say hi to the ginge with the moustache!. ATB

    I have a mirror on the front of the bonnet set to look right on the loader tractor. Easy to fit and so useful at bad junctions where you can’t see very well. I can’t think why anybody would think having the loader low down is a good idea.

    If the loader is high, it can only catch an HGV that you'd likely have seen over the hedges. If it's low you could clip cars that you may not have seen and you would still hit the HGV anyway. High also gets seen by cars/HGV's over the hedges as well so makes everyone think about it. High makes sense to me while coming out the farm, once on the road is different story.

    • @roberthiggins6401
      @roberthiggins6401 2 роки тому +1

      That's what I would do too. Once on the road I'd have it lower incase of branches, wires and the center of gravity. In the event of an accident I reckon they'd say any attachments should be put on a trailer.

  • @hbeer3480
    @hbeer3480 3 роки тому +1

    10:25 regarding to the loader situation. Personally when driving straight down the road I would keep the loader low due making the centre of gravity lower, but when approaching a junction keep it high because the loader won't point out onto the road meaning you can see and you won't take any pedestrians out with the implement on the front.
    Anyway, loving the videos
    Henry

    When it comes to the loader it's really driver preference, BUT when your travelling down a road with spikes on your must point the spikes down to the ground so they can't pierce anything if that makes sense, always crowd your shear grab down so it's pointing to the ground

    Hi all I believe if you can avoid it you are better not using a front loader tractor for road tasks if possible because of the way they protrude into a road whilst emerging. A nice additional cattle shed always a bonus. Hope the price of timber comes down for rebedding the trailer. Wow 398k subscribers, well done.

    Bit of a hard one Tom , local to me , a number of years ago a young lad was using a bucket and brush attachment on a JCB Loadall , he had it up in the air whilst turning around , unfortunately the bucket brush caught a HGV causing the Loadall to spin around and tip , throwing him out of the cab . Sadly he passed away . 😥

    Great video.. ill always approach a gap here with the loader as high as safely possible narrow back roads and often trucks travelling them..

    Being an hgv driver I've been in the situation of having a tractor with a loader creeping out of a side road/farm entrance. Having your loader high and the implement tucked in makes it safer for everyone because its more visible to the driver it also doesn't force us across the white line unnecessarily far. We understand why you'd have it up in the air because you're trying to be safe too. But that's just my opinion with 19 years driving experience

      Also as a fellow HGV driver and farm background. Spot on with this comment. Nothing worse than forks or bucket sneaking out at wheel height.
