I don't like how the necronomicon event is structured because, as you say, there's a choice you mathematically should never pick (that is, to start reading and then stop without picking up the book, effectively losing 9 health for no reason) and seems to exist as a trick for new players. a simple change to the event I've seen from a mod before is to let you know at that point which book you're going to get if you choose to pay the final 15 health. this now introduces a situation in which you might reasonably go that far hoping to see the book you're after, only to realise it's the wrong book (i.e. necronomicon for a deck with few 2+ cost attacks) and leave it there, choosing to take less damage in exchange for leaving behind a relic you know you don't want.
Idk, every fight is the chance to get/skip potentially strong or weak cards/relics/potions and you may lose health. It's on par with that for 3 extremely strong rewards so its not that bad/different from most of the gameplay.

Apparitions can be good with Ironclad decks, even if they're already heavily block focused. They can basically buy you the turn you need to get a Barricade in play, or even save tons of your armor after the Barricade is already down in order to keep your Body slams' damage up.
I follow my intense desire for greed a good bit, but these guides have really helped me be more knowledgeable to be greedy still but more efficiently so
Another fact about the Colosseum (console): Usually, if you save and quit the game mid-fight, when you continue your game, the fight is restarted. However, if you save and quit during the 2nd stage of the Colosseum, when you continue, the game defaults to you having taken the cowardice option and all you get is a small chest.
This doesn't match my experience either - I usually play on switch, and am pretty sure when resetting on the second fight the whole event resets and I have to do the first fight again.

Apparitions really can be broken. I had a recent ironclad run which picked up an early toxic and molten egg and got a feed+ from the act 1 boss, ended the run after taking apparitions with 111 health and a perfect heart fight. If you have singing bowl or feed it can be worth it just on the basis that you can get it back up. I don't like taking them with snecko eye so much as many times they'll just be exhausted at 3 cost. It's also worth mentioning that the intangible stacks so if you play 3 on one turn you're intangible for the 2 following turns as well. Also upgrading at least 1 or 2 is usually really good so if you're lacking critical upgrades it might be a pass on that basis alone. I'm usually tempted to take it because I've had so many runs where this event has taken a dead end deck and just won the game for me on its own.

For the joust, wouldn't the math be to subtract 50 from each amount and then take the expected return, as you want to calculate on the net gain? In that case, betting on the murderer is .7*(100-50) = 35 gold, whereas betting on the owner is .3*(250-50) = 60 gold, almost twice as much.
Yesterday i got necronomicon and sneaky strike on silent(+2 energy every turn), combined with discard relics tactician and prepared almost all fights eneded on my first turn. Unfortunately i couldnt get rid of all defenses and dead branch relic which made my unable to beat boss on first rurn and get achievement
You can also set up some funky nonsense with Necronomicurse, Blue Candle, and Ironclad's "dmg/buff on losing hp" cards. Not very common, but hilarious when it happens. Also, I'm unsure if the Blue Candle Necronomicurse nonsense also work with relics like the Darkstone, Ceramic Fish, or the one that increases your strength when you have a curse.
Relics like darkstone periapt, du-vu doll, and ceramic fish only increase your permanent stats when the deck size increases (the number in the top right next to the map). Generating cards/curses during combats do not count as adding cards to your deck. If that were the case then ceramic fish would be absolutely busted with a myriad of card creating effects and potions

Silent and watcher are women and defect is a robot of no specific gender so it wouldn’t make sense for Romeo to say “guy” and “his” (I’m imagining something along the lines of the “brother”/“sister”/“broken one” difference on the vampire event) but the wiki only has this version of the dialogue
Great video! It's super concise and explains meta concepts about the game that most "Top tips for newbs" videos don't seem to cover for Spire. One minor gripe, however, is how much you sway in your facecam. Considering the video is an hour long, I watched in 2x speed (I normally watch vids in 1.5x because break time at work is limited so it wasn't jarringly fast to me). However, this makes the swaying very noticeable. Nowhere near enough to put me off or anything, but noticeable nonetheless. Honestly, do you even need facecam for your type of videos? You don't seem too comfortable with it (at least while standing up, your seated vids don't seem as awkward) and it doesn't add anything to the actual content that you aren't already expressing with your words. It almost feels like facecam can be a crutch for new content creators because it drives growth (you can use your "shocked face" in thumbnails) and is easy (no editing required), but once a creator is confident in their craft and they no longer need it, it actually just distracts from the content of the video itself. The superior option (IMO) is some editing so that, at specific points, the video cuts to your camera briefly and only for "good" reactions. You still get the thumbnail "clickbait face" for channel growth that way while adding a minor amount of work per video, but gaining a much higher quality product in return. A good way to think about it is to equate a UA-cam career with a Spire run. If you start a run as *The Creator* , Face Cam would be a great card to pick up early in a run, but you'd want to toss it before act 3 because it just doesn't scale well unless it combos with relics like _Gamer Girl_ or _Incoherent Rage_ , both of which apply permanent stacking modifiers to Face Cam. Damnit, now I want to make a Spire mod for *The Creator* .
Is it correct to assume that if you have Ceramic Fish and get a card reward + gold, you will be granted healing from Bloody Idol twice? Once for the combat gold reward and once for the Ceramic Fish gold reward?
You also have an equal chance of getting any card in your card pool, regardless of rarity. That means that you have something like a 30% chance of getting a rare card.

However, even though special event cards like Apparitions and Bites are considered to be colorless cards, you cannot transform into them, yet you can transform them into other colorless cards.

As stated above, all "randomness" in slay the spire is seeded, so if you take the same actions, you will have the same results. Quitting and re-entering allows you to change whatever actions you took on that floor, so you'd be able to change your choice. That said, most consider doing so cheating, unless you're fixing a genuine misclick. If you're okay with cheating, you can definitely take advantage here.

@@voidify3 I believe if you lose any health to beat if death or thorns, then you have not perfected the fight.
@voidify3 any dmg you can block is damage, any damage that goes through blocks arent counted.
Note for the cheaty: book event can be save and quitted if you get to the part where you see the book, but feel like you don’t want that book

That is not true. I did this today when I forgot to use a potion on the Gremlin nob and it just restarted the fight , making me repeat the first one.

it's random with the notable exception that transforming a curse will always give you another random curse instead of turning it into a normal card.
