    Love this gene ! Honestly I feel like you can add it to anything and it just enhances the snake and morphs it already has - in one of my videos I talk about the pied like this - at the end of the day a snake being pied just makes the snakes better - to me at least haha

      I work heavy with the pied and clown gene. Other Co/Dom morphs included... Anything pied or clown will hold value and interest..I just got pied Vpi dbl 100% recessive to shoot for a lightning lied then work clown into that...either way. Anything pied clown or ax will always be of interest

    This is probably my favorite videos of yours, as I'm starting to dip my toes into the axanthic pied project, using VPI. I have a VPI female juvenile I'm raising up and in another year or so gunna look for a het male. Either double het, or either axanthic het pied or pied het axanthic.

      That will take a while breeding a True Ghost that way. You'll have to use the Hets from the first generation. I bought a pair of True Ghosts off The Snake Keeper to get around this and save me some time making true ghost combos. I have a bunch of microscales and plan on making a microscale True Ghost then a scalesless True Ghost.

    we have a a funny ways of naming genes in the ball python hobby. Axhantic litterraly means " lack of yellow pigment" so what we name red axhantic should be called Anerytheristic ( Anery) like in the corn snake hobby. As a owner of several VPI axanthic snakes, the snakes you shown are really extreme and non common visual of this gene ( maybe even a little bit of color enhancement involved ) . as they grown, the brown show up and adult are most of the time of a faded normal color. Altough, I'd love to see how a double line axhantic would be .

    Axanthics are in my top 3 favorite. I have a Male Female pair of true Ghosts from the snake keeper.They are easily a couple of the best looking snakes in my collection. I have a project going where I am going to add the microscale gene and clown gene to them. Triple recessive and set up to take the scales off and produce a scaleless one.

      Chris Hardwick i was just wondering.I have one that has crazy neck pattern like 1/3 of the snake is a flowed together crazy pattern almost like a cryptic but a little more jumbled up with quite a bit of white coming up from the belly. I mean either way she proved female so at the worst I have a normal with a cool pattern.

    ;
    -peeks over at her free ball python plus set up-
    Okay, To be fair, I was originally looking at some axanthic ball pythons or Pied but a friend was having issues with her rescue and asked me to take him. I offered her money but she was more worried about getting him to eat and remain healthy than anything else. He is a wild type but still very beautiful. No regrets on taking him in. For all the hell that creature has been through, there is is something very adorably sweet about him.

    Het red axanthic is not a misnomer. Heterozygous just means there's one copy of a gene and homozygous means 2 cops.

    • @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures
      @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures  4 роки тому

      Usually in the ball python industry we don't say 'het' for a co-dominant gene, for example we never would say 'het Pastel'. Although this may be proper terminology in the scientific community.

    • @josephvaughan7693
      @josephvaughan7693 4 роки тому

      Chris Hardwick yeah that makes sense tho it seems like a double or possible multiple gene axanthic would be noticeably different than say the vpi or joliff single gene side by side like say you had a vpi a jolliff and a visual vpi jolliff all sitting together side by side it seems like the double would look somewhat noticeably different or else why wouldn’t they be compatible idk I’m sure people have tried it I’m sure your right what you said makes sense kind of but then again if the different lines aren’t compatible it seems they’d have to have a little different look idk they’ve been around for awhile I’m sure someone’s tried to go in that direction and didn’t continue for a reason that’s kind of a weird thing it would be nice to see the proof maybe a triple or quad axanthic and whatever other gene you’d like to throw in make for a insane almost zebra type black and white pattern
