I'm 55 year old , live in the U.S. and I have gone camping all my life. It is sad how time has changed the way people care about the outdoors.. We have more forest fire caused by man, trash dumped everywhere, and graffiti everywhere. More and more areas are being closed down to camping. It's nice to see that you care and educate people in you video. Thank you for all that you do!!!!!!!!!!!
mate! went pigging with some dogs here around 2017. It was around 330 am, and after taking a trophy of a boar, we were walking back to the ute (about 3km through the harsh scrub) and from behind us where we left the remains of that boar we heard an immense roar/bellow call..It was fkn insane. Never heard anything like that in my life, the dogs freaked out, we immediately crouched and turned off the torches and the collar lights on the dogs and waited a minute. After a short time we continued walking again but heard this insane gutteral scream again but it was closer than before so we just fkn RAN to the car with the dogs. NEVER heard anything like that in our lives, this was deep in the Piliga. Just to be clear, whatever made those noises was big, it sounded like a freaking massive animal of some kind but nothing we could identify at time or to this day.
Myself and the missis went to camp there a few years back on a road trip a strange landscape ,I'd heard bout the local yowie and ghost legends ,we lasted about a hr after dark , there was strange cracks of trees , and weird noises , and we hightailed it out of there and stayed in the car down further on the newell highway .
I was travelling alone in the Pilliga and stopped for lunch near a waterhole. Was so good with lots of bird life I decided to camp overnight. At about 4 pm I realized it had become very quiet. I became more uncomfortable as the evening progressed. At sunset I decided to leave . Had a real bad feel about the place. I camp Solo all the time and have never felt scarred in he bush. Sure was glad when I got back on the Newell.
@@fisher898 yes definitely a weird feeling around the place , we stayed down the road at a rest stop and that was even weird . I had a strange feeling of being watched . I kept looking at a old trail we were parked opposite for some reason . We had a hr snooze and kept going .

Years ago I was travelling through that region and late at night on the hwy, middle of nowhere and an old lady stepped out on the road in front of the truck. Scared the absolute poo out of me. Swerved and missed her and pulled up. Absolutely no site of her anywhere! After I calmed down I continued on with my trip. No idea who she was or why she was out there but I have never forgotten that.

Legendary video. My wife and I own a little farm on Dandry Creek (upstream of the gorge) and it’s surrounded by Pilliga National Park. I call it my mental health retreat as I work on the coast and head out every weekend! We absolutely love the Pilliga and on my channel I’ve upload some nice bird videos from the farm. Thanks for the video and the cleanup.
Yep, the more gin you drink …… the more the yowies come out ….. somehow ! …… they might like the smell of it. When you hear them, don’t shit yourself or fart even ….. because they seem to be encouraged to do their blood curdling shrieks and other weird noises when they know they’ve got you scared. Maybe the grub’s undies you found were very smelly ….. But don’t be a wuz because I’ve never actually heard of a yowie ever killing anyone or for that matter of anyone ever seeing one …. the mongrels are bloody cowards I reckon. So Scotty, I suggest that you keep the gin to just a couple of those mugs full …. unless you want to be scared shitless ! The common name for those beautiful Angophoras is the Apple (obviously nothing like the fruit tree). You’re getting a lots followers from overseas mate ….that’s great, …. If and when COVID let’s up we’ll see some of them discovering what you’ve shown them. Great stuff Scotty 🐾🐾🐾🐾 (yowie tracks)
Scotty, I drove up to Missouri from Texas to see that same eclipse. Definitely something I think everyone should experience. Seeing a partial eclipse doesn't compare to seeing totality. Love the videos, mate. Keep up the great work!
Pilliga's pretty cool. Up there last year. Such a great isolated place. Yes I was a bit freaked out also about the yowi and pilliga princess stories. Thanks for sharing.
Scotty - mate, I've been a fan of yours for a while now. I'm from Papua New Guinea and you've inspired me to make the most of my trips back to the village and document the nature we have here in similar fashion. Would love to have you over up here do some bushwalking as well. Cheers, Oliver
Scotty thanks for making this movie, and the warrumbungles one as well. Until about 5 years ago I used to work as a weedsprayer in both areas, sometimes for weeks at a time, and have always wanted to take my family out there but haven't been able yet. So last night I put both vids on the tv and was able to share these magical places with them. The respect you showed in the video, the drone shots, and your narrative let me show my wife and kids why this place is so special. Thank you legend!
Hey Scotty! Loved this viddy, and especially the eclipse story. I too saw that eclipse! I went down to Oregon from Vancouver Canada with three of my four kids for an epic camp and cookout on a mountain ridge at 6000’ feet! Epic views, epic times, and mostly, an epic memory! That trip changed my life, I fell back in love with the outdoors and I’m now single and on my own now. I plan to buy a sailboat soon and travel the west coast all the way to Alaska with my oldest daughter who was with me on that trip. Thank you for the memory, what a special time that was… Cheers! Bryan from Vancouver
Absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to see your puppy camping out with you. And do keep the cooking parts of the video. Cooking with only the basics in the bush is just epic.
Something interesting I learnt the other day that makes a lot of sense is the bush that we know today as we know has changed but so has the tree species A lot of our bush has been over logged of certain species that have in most places have left higher fire rated trees. Was a very interesting watch to see how people are introducing native trees that would have been around before our presence to help reduce the fire load Thanks for another great clip showcasing Australia's Beauty
love your adventures - Pilliga so supreme and I imagine so many awesome sights to see. Cyprus Pine is majestic in it's stance, I love the fact that The Indigenous People Do Not Destroy such beautiful environments, so delicious to see millions of years history in one spot, glorious to know how one can spend so many hours pondering around this place, again lovely lovely sounds, sometimes None. Cheers
Dear Scott Williams.. , (I think that's the name) I am so glad to see your videos. I will become homeless after I get my licence and live in a van. Your an inspiration to me and someone to look up to. I think your surfy art is awesome. I watch your videos repeatedly. I don't have a credit or debit card because I'm poor and mentally ill but if I could buy a t shirt one day I would. Iv taken hints and tips for life out of my old van. I'm probably older than you (33) but I can learn so much from your videos. Your respect for our land is strong. I hope you take pride in your work. If there's a t shirt with the surfy picture on it and your logo inmysize I'd be willing to send for it. I'm so glad I found your content and happy with the channels direction. Please never give up, your a great lad. Kooooiieee!
Also Scotty... FYI, i've never met one of those ruddy gas camping stoves that can do 'low'. They ALWAYS burn the crap out of everything!!! ( comment related to the pancakes. Sooooo not your fault!) Appreciate the video too. Love seeing new places.
Recently found your channel after I decided to start researching camping. I'm a disabled guy who is planning on doing some camping of my own soon and your channel has been a great help to me. I love your videos, keep up the great work 🙂
I love that you acknowledge the Pilliga Yowie and the Princess Scotty. Thanks for cleaning up the mess, and for bringing the fantastic content. I’d love to know if you ever run into anything in the bush that you think doesn’t really belong out there, or seems a little unusual. I personally am a believer of Yowies after a couple of strange experiences. I never seen a Yowie, but have heard some strange sounds in the bush that are unexplainable, at least for me, and have felt a presence that has made me feel very uneasy while camping. Keep up the excellent work, and I hope you receive an Emmy or a Logie some day for your great videos.
Love the videos and a great area to explore, only advice I would give you is your cooking, the fry pan is too hot. Enjoy your travels and taking my kids up that way for a bush break soon.
Magical place Scotty! Shame about the idiots & grubs! And really appreciate you taking the time to clean up after them. That aside, what an amazing forest. Cheers for bringing us along Mate.
Really enjoyed the commentary and stories behind the US trip. It's the stories behind the different pieces of kit we carry that makes them what it is. When you think about, the Aussie Swagman carried their possessions in the bedroll, so that gear would have meant alot and given comfort in times of fear and doubt. You got a good heart for the land, keeping it clean, and respecting our traditional owners of the land. Good on you mate. You are doing this journey well. Thank you. Ivan
the last remnant of a vast ancient inland scrub once stretched from Longreach to the Murray River...I lived in a mudbrick house on the edge of the scrub n rode my dirtbike all over the place ..it's a very easy place to get hopelessly lost in tho...I told my Mrs if I'm ever gone more than three days call for help 😊
This video is an absolute stunner. Never thought there are places like this exist in this world. I was quite surprised and disappointed to see rubbish in that beautiful are you visited which I never thought could happen in Australia. But mate that was nothing in comparison to what happens in my country.
Loved the Pilliga adventure. Enjoy your relaxed, natural style doing the vids. I live in America, Wisconsin. Nice that you got to see the eclipse in Oregon. I got a chuckle out of how you thought certain things were "so American" - like people sitting in their lawn chairs waiting for the eclipse. It's interesting to hear what people from other countries think of Americans. Hoo Roo!

Thank you for such a wonderful presentation of the Pilliga. Whilst I have never been there myself, I lived in Narrabri for 10 months a number of years back and always wanted to head off out there. I think you may have whet my appetite to try and get there sooner rather than later.
Lived whilst working in Baradine for 3 yrs and LOVED the place! It's so beautiful and soothing. Couldn't get out to Warrumbungle national park but explored outskirts between Bara and Bugaldie... definitely gonna head down again to explore it more thoroughly! Enjoyed your vid and love the fact that you do your research and are so respectful of the land, environment, and its custodians. Well done matey.
I have a gumtree search setup for swags that I check on from time to time. Pretty sure I saw that Winchester come up. Glad that you were able to grab it (felt it was a bit small for me). I have a Saul swag which has heaps of canvas but can be used swagman style. Good trick to deal with condensation is to put a wool blanket between the canvas and your bedding.
Another high quality, beautifully filmed video showcasing our amazing country. Loved the soundtracks as well! Thanks Scotty.
Cheers mate for another brilliant Scotty's Gone Walkabouts Video. Such a beautiful country we have!
Yowies everywhere in the Pilliga
Yeap alot in qld too.bloody yowies
@@billgoldly3962 have you had a couple mugs yourself ? Lol
@@billgoldly3962 👍👍
@@symphonyinkart lol, I couldn't tell if he was being serious or not. Some interesting point but they undies were a curve ball! 😆
Great example…. well done … for clearing up after those idiots …. Great blog too 👍🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Really enjoyed being shown this beautiful place, Thank You. What an incredible planet we have.
Mate thanks for sharing this journey in the best country in the world. Cheers from 2 west aussie stuck in Saudi
Beautiful country, you're so lucky to experience the environment on your own terms. Awesome
One of your top vids brother...as far as the rubbish goes...TRASH LEAVES TRASH.
that is a great way to put it, you could turn that in to a tshirt slogan or perhaps sell the idea to the government for an anti litter campaign
That campsite at the end...., I have no words. Just like you said, how hard is it to take your trash home. good effort cleaning up that mess Scotty.
This has to be tne most beautiful pjece of your country you have ever shown !!!!!!!
Scotty - mate, I've been a fan of yours for a while now. I'm from Papua New Guinea and you've inspired me to make the most of my trips back to the village and document the nature we have here in similar fashion. Would love to have you over up here do some bushwalking as well. Cheers, Oliver
Goodonya mate👍
That was awesome and it was nice hanging out in the bush with you. thank you.
Big old tree , what a beautiful song
Thank you for the memory, what a special time that was…
Cheers!
Bryan from Vancouver
Another amazing place. Thanks for taking us along. Cheers from Canada.
Absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to see your puppy camping out with you. And do keep the cooking parts of the video. Cooking with only the basics in the bush is just epic.
Wow, those caves are fantastic!
Love it dude! Pilliga is such an interesting place! The views at night are absolutely amazing ❤
when r u guys going round 2?
@@adventuredownunder2131 haha not too sure man. Hopefully soon!
Those people were just about to clean up...before they were taken!!
Scotty Burns Dinner! Another great vid mate. Thanks heaps.
and breakfast
Good on you for giving back and tidying up the bush after the grubs have been mate, I will start doing the same here in SA, One trip at a time.
Seen a Yowie crossing the highway while we were driving. It crossed the road about 30 metres away . It was carrying a dead kangaroo.
You been on Australian Yowie Witness Reports ?
Plz go to Australia Yowie witness reports they are great and the audience would love to hear your story no reductions for telling your story
Thank you, for such a heartfelt story here, the Pilliga my home - it is very special.
Something interesting I learnt the other day that makes a lot of sense is the bush that we know today as we know has changed but so has the tree species
A lot of our bush has been over logged of certain species that have in most places have left higher fire rated trees.
Was a very interesting watch to see how people are introducing native trees that would have been around before our presence to help reduce the fire load
Thanks for another great clip showcasing Australia's Beauty
I stopped watching this channel for a little while, and now that I have come back I’m glad to see the subscriber count has grown
One day you'll make something that isn't completely burnt 🤣 (But not today)
love your adventures - Pilliga so supreme and I imagine so many awesome sights to see.
Kooooiieee!
4:42 magical snapshot
Nice to watch you.while sitting in my arm chair with my Milo at home.totaly jealous.relaxing viewing.🏕️
Love that area. I camped near the Salt Caves last time I was there.
Thanks for bringing back good memories. I must get back there soon.
Also Scotty... FYI, i've never met one of those ruddy gas camping stoves that can do 'low'. They ALWAYS burn the crap out of everything!!! ( comment related to the pancakes. Sooooo not your fault!)
Appreciate the video too. Love seeing new places.
Recently found your channel after I decided to start researching camping. I'm a disabled guy who is planning on doing some camping of my own soon and your channel has been a great help to me. I love your videos, keep up the great work 🙂
Have you been on a camping trip by now? And if so, did you enjoy it?
@@sammuis01 yes and yes
@@RobboTheDisabledVlogger Good on you!
Beautiful country - thanks for looking after it.
Love the videos and a great area to explore, only advice I would give you is your cooking, the fry pan is too hot.
Enjoy your travels and taking my kids up that way for a bush break soon.
Love what you are doing from Ohio USA 🙏🇺🇲 prayers and peace to Australia 🇦🇺
Thankyou for your kind words prayers and peace to the United States 🇺🇸🇦🇺from Australia
Haunted or not, that gorge was so beautiful. ❤
Another great video Scotty you live in paradise
There are two channels that are at the top of the list to watch. You and We will Roam. Unbelievable footage
Wow,what an AWESOME place to visit!
Thanks Scotty.👍🏻
Those caves were fantastic.
Another cracking show. Thanks again.
Magical place Scotty! Shame about the idiots & grubs! And really appreciate you taking the time to clean up after them. That aside, what an amazing forest. Cheers for bringing us along Mate.
Great vid. Recommend getting an awning on your roof rack for car camps. Makes rain and heat a lot more enjoyable
such a beautiful part of our wonderful country. great vid as usual scotty Hooroo till next video
Thank you. Ivan
Allways love your outlook on life hon, thankyou for your vids😊
the last remnant of a vast ancient inland scrub once stretched from Longreach to the Murray River...I lived in a mudbrick house on the edge of the scrub n rode my dirtbike all over the place ..it's a very easy place to get hopelessly lost in tho...I told my Mrs if I'm ever gone more than three days call for help 😊
Brother u brave there's plenty of YOWIES around there
Nah they have all died off due the drop bears
Hi.
I have no idea what a Yowie is, but since it belongs in Australia I shall asume that it is deadly.
YOWIES are Australian bigfoot or sasquatch:)
@@KyleD I'm guessing YOU have encountered them "Nasty Drop-Bears"-IF they didn't finish you off, they'd be NO Problem to an 8 foot Yowie, huh?
Also watch out for ghosts, Cobba, jokes, looks amazing
This video is an absolute stunner. Never thought there are places like this exist in this world. I am from Sri Lanka and usually don't go to places where people gather and rest because they leave their garbage scatter around and make a mess of those places. I was quite surprised and disappointed to see rubbish in that beautiful are you visited which I never thought could happen in Australia. But mate that was nothing in comparison to what happens in my country.
Excellent reminder to pick other ignorant individuals rubbish. As always, amazing scenery & thank you for sharing your photography
Hoo Roo!
That dinner looked amazing it probably taste amazing too you definitely know how to cook
Half way in and loving your coverage of the Pilliga. It makes me yearn to get back to my rainforest country in kuku yalanji lands.
It's NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) week in Australia. Love the respect & acknowledgement of our first nations brothers & sisters
Yes, Scotty is the type of young guy who is a great role model to our children. Eventually we will defeat racism.
And littering is something we will read about in disbelief that we were once (some of us) horrible filthy yowies !
Absolutely magnificient!. Good job.
U got me with that intro speech mate. Your channel improves every time I watch. Good shit.
Will keep you warm and dry.
This gave me a flash back to when I was a kid and watching Ask the Leyland Brothers lol
