*Funnily enough, we met Ben on the flight home from Alice Springs earlier this year and after falling in love with his earthy beats, I reached out to him and he was kind enough to let me use his music in the vid. So please check him out and support him. A great guy producing some killer home grown beats.
Scotty, found your videos recently, good job, I’m way older than you 62 and have been enjoying outdoor adventures my whole life I can tell you I hope you keep it up it will hold you in good stead for your whole life your wonderful appreciation of the outdoors!
Stay stoked kid!Bama Rick
It's so great no matter what place you camp you always have such great meals. bloody brilliant mate
The things I like most about your videos are the length and chilled out vibe, really gives a sense of isolation and actually feels like being out there with you somewhat. Great work, you're always an inspiration to jump in the car and head for the hills when I need to escape the city....watching your videos stuck at work is the next best thing lol.
Your biggest fan from Nagaland mountain ,India.
Keep uploading more video, it feels so good to watch you exploring
Those trout in the Snowy Mountains trip are a brook trout.. well done great fish and hard to find ...
Great trip. would love to experience that area someday.
Great to see you got a couple of trout! Make sure you wet your hands before picking em' up if you're gonna return em' to the stream. The mucus they're covered in is their immune system. Love your vids, keep posting and keep practicing your fishin' 😁
in Korea your video showed up this Monday. and it started my week. feeling good mate
First time viewer. Loving your videos. Great therapy getting out on your own in the bush. Picking up some good tips. Love the scenery.
Awesome to see you out enjoying the camping. We have been watching all the outback fires on the news here in England. Great video Scotty cheers. Andy
“Hows the serenity” Love it. Good vid mate.
These videos are all such good quality :) laid back and some awesome shots of the beautiful places you get to, Good info thrown in as well. what's not to enjoy! :)
Excellent video! We keep a pair of neoprene reef shoes in with camp gear that are very light and great for walking around in rivers and streams.
You have some great looking meals and great cinematography! Thanks for bringing us along and keep up the great work!
Peppermint oil is good for deterring ants! Good for lots of other things too!
Love your vids bro kep em up
Awesome cheers for the idea.
igitha Δл λ μ a gasoline circle of fire works too!
Great vid Scotty, mad respect for going in and getting your lure even after a tough trip with the ants and flies! I wish everyone that goes out bush had that attitude! Thanks mate!
Great trip, loved the setup with the tarp up top!
Welcome back!
Again I am impressed with the different landscapes you go to. Glad to see your luck change with the fish. Even a missed fish is better than no fish at all. You got 2 and that's awesome. Keep them coming. Here in the state we are hitting winter. I'm in Florida and it's now cool enough to start camping. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Hi Scotty, just to say they were brook trout, browns are pretty little fish with black brown and red spots with gold flanks.
They do change as they get older and vary in different environments.
So peaceful, so warm and friendly, beautiful beyond words.
I like the quality of your videos. The scenery is very beautiful.
Thanks and greetings from Kayseri.
a general rule of thumb is brookies have lighter spots than the body colour and a white edging to the lower fins browns have darker spots than body and no edging on lower fins, good to see you back . it might be worth looking at a bait caster rod and reel for fishing in tighter areas once you get the hang of them they can be a hell of a lot more accurate.( with a lot and lot of practise)
Ben Jansz is freaking awesome musician. He needs a bigger following.
The Snowy Mountains are an amazing place I have been camping and fishing up there for about 50 years the scenery is unbelievable but it can be a dangerous place if you are not careful the weather can change really quickly and plenty of people have been caught out .also you need to be careful when walking around in the hollows along the streams some areas are quite swampy and you can be walking along near a stream when all of a sudden your leg can disappear down a hole it happened to me up at Ogilvies creek some years ago I was lucky not to break my leg but it is a beautiful place and I love every visit never gets boring
Happened to me at spencers creek !! So easy to break an ankle
Good timing, right before they evacuated KNP for bushfires. It got pretty crazy in Jan
Im pretty sure we sent a bunch of fire fighters to help with relief 🇨🇦🇦🇺
Another great video, I was wondering what had happened to you. Good to see you finally catching some fish.
Tip for wet boots, heat fist size rocks in the fire and drop them inside your boots the other is to build a tripod and suspend them over the fire upside down so the heat will get inside your boots. obviously with these techniques you need to be careful of plastic components in your boots.
Also any tarp can be strung from corner to corner you just need to do like they have done for centuries and run your ridge line under the tarp instead of above, I prefer this method as it gives you somewhere to hang boots or cloths to dry without get dew or rain on them.
Good to see you giving Sam's gear a plug, it is good gear and he is a great bloke.
Look forward to your next video.
Thanks for the adventure.
Huh, I would’ve never thought that y’all had brookies all the way over there especially with the heat, I learned something new today thanks man
Great video Scotty.
I've experienced those flies and ants in the Snowy region they can be a real nightmare to deal with.
Love your new Tarp.
Love the opening sound track!! Beautiful country you get to explore!!
Feeling well jel!!! Fished the snowy mountains lakes and rivers in the 90's great place camped many a night there beautiful....miss the old country, apart from the brown snakes!!. Now back in blighty!! Great vids
From what I could see on your trout caught on the third cast, you are correct with Brook Trout. The trout in the video appears to have the distinctive black and white colors on the outer edges on the fins. The second trout has the same light orange fins with the distinctive black and white outer edge coloring of a Brook Trout. The pale yellow spots are also an indicator of the Brook Trout. Nice video, Scotty!
You have a keen eye and are correct. I caught two Brook Trout at Fortress Lake in British Columbia, Canada. Which was a first for me as I'm from Australia and it is rare to catch them here.
yep it was a brookie
big fan of the Alton goods stuff. we have grill, & 2 hammocks (+ extras) and all are good quality.
Never go camping Scotty without arogard or bushmans or even rid if it still around mate I learnt this many years ago lol ,enjoyed your video mate pitty the ants made it annoying for you. Nice little trout there pitty a nice sized one didn’t hook up for you to eat , next adventure roll on 😜. 👍
Nice one mate! Great video, awesome country and so good to see some trout! Those ants were brutal!
Living the dream, one of the best places in Aus, the colours of silver and gold snowy Mt is the best ,,, man if your going to catch and release , put your hands in the water first before you touch the fish, ells youll kill the fish you let go , Great stuff , All the best to you and yours for the holidays mate , and keep em coming bro !!!
Just a quick tip from a fellow colonial, just a Canadian haha- I'd recommend a hook slightly smaller than the jig you're using in the video as the trout you nabbed really had to commit to chomping that hook. That's my 2 cents and love your videos mate🤙🏻
I do enjoy the videos when you fish
Christ man I was starting to wonder where you were. I thought heck he has gone for a camp and a Yowie has got him. Must be nice getting away from life and do a bit of living. Merry Christmas mate and take care.
Same here, was concerned with all the wildfires around Oz currently. Glad Scotty's okay!
I'm late here but glad I made it. Yes Brook trout are the unicorn of trout in the snowies. Lots in the dams but I've never caught them in the streams. Top effort.
You should have a camp at the Three Mile Dam mate it's an awesome place to camp and the fish are a little bigger also its close to the Eucumbene River and the Yarrangobilly caves also the upper reaches of the Murrumbidgee River
trout , campfire ,camping and cooking sound of the creek very relaxing nice job m8
It's always worth the wait, mate. Still amazed at the quality of videos you manage to get out. Keep enjoying the outdoors
I love your channel Scotty. Just one small issue is your lack of audio leveling... I have to listen to your music at volume 12 and your talking at volume 20. A good rule of thumb is set your tunes at 30%. Otherwise, great to see you back again!
Man, I feel like you could have caught so many more fish with a proper fly rod setup. Maybe some day eh? Also, not sure if anyone else has mentioned in the comments but it's always a good idea to wet your hands before handling trout like that. They are covered in a mucus layer that stays intact better if you handle them with wet hands. Overall awesome video and a great looking spot. Cheers Mr. Scotty!
Been fishing for years. Didnt know this. Thanks
Mate u don’t need a fly setup to catch a trout or a fancey setup just a normal rod reel and a celta
Yes we heard about the fires. How sad. Sending good wishes from canada🇨🇦 and happy holidays. Great to watch this vid today 😉👍
that's awesome mate. this video caught my attention
very pleased to see another video from you ...the scenery is always spectacular there and so glad you are catching those elusive fish lol great stuff and thank you so much for your time and hard work ...😁
Hi just started watching your channel
I’m very impressed that you make things very easy. I noticed so far that you have no fear. About The Wild life. You have a search confidence
I’m learning with each video. I love that you make easy providing links to get equipments
Thank you
Peter from Boston
I was wondering about you yesterday, and bang, here you are. Nice trip that. And some fishing results!! Thanks for the post, really enjoy your stuff. Merry Chrissy
Definitely Brook trout ... the lighter colored ones are females. I would definitely take a tent with you and zip it up tight. Maybe you can hang a pair of really light wading shoes off your pack. Every trip is an experience and an opportunity to learn what you need and what you don't. Certainly the location will dictate some of what you will need. All the best on your next adventure ... take care and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Oh, I wish I could be there! So beautiful and WILD!
Nice stuff Scotty. Didn't want to read the other comments - although they may have said what I'm going to.
In those tiny streams you only need the lightest of light gear. A smaller lure, a rod without that great big surplus bit below the reel (the butt) - far too much weight there and you'll never meet a fish so big that you need the leverage to fight it.
BTW, they were both brookies - Salvelinus Fontinalis
What a stunning place. I’m watching a bit each morning before I go to work. 😁
Great vid, love the scenery, the solo camping, the music and your recipes 🤙
I'm pretty sure those are brook trout. Sorry about the insects ,but still was a great trip.I bought one of those bivvys for a motorcycle trip ,it was like sleeping in a cold steam bath.
I see you mix your powdered milk right when you will have it with your muesli in the morning. If you mix the milk in a small Nalgene bottle before you go to bed it will taste better, you can also shake it to dissolve any lumps. Some get an interesting stomach effect from powdered milk unless it has been sitting for a while, also a good reason for making the mix a few hours before using it.
I got bit by a jumping Jack "Jack jumper" at wombat reserve here in Vic didn't think they are about did not see before cutting some wood up for a few minutes then get a nasty bite had to swoop him off I'm not allergic to bugs but my body went really tense for 5 or so! Aggressive little buggers left a good purple mark on my ankle for week or so.
Safe travels cobber
Relaxing to watch mate
Great vid, watching from North Carolina (America). The area reminds me of where I grew up, western America. Over the years I've learned the 2 biggest factors in the outdoors are. 1 bugs in the warm months. 2 wind, any month.
So much respect that you show your failures
Th;ank you Scotty for the video, my family actually appreciated you answering all their queries about firebans all across NSW very informative person you are, we look forward to your next video
Man- we should do a beer swap. We are always looking for new international beers to talk about by the fire, and we could send you some excellent US beers. That looks like an amazing trip, cheers!
58:17 "Oh man, I need a bigger bowl" (plate?)
Well Scotty... get one!
Love your videos mate.
Hiked that area too mate. Simply stunning. Stayed in an old stockman's hut, at the base of Mt Jangungal. Never forget the experience.
That's some tasty fly-fishing water...especially for a lightweight backpacking set-up. Every 3rd or 4th well placed cast would be an explosive surface strike. Fun video. Liked your LNT message towards the end. Good work!
Great opening song, Ben Jansz makes some awesome music 👍 love your videos, keep it up!
nice vid you are so going to love flyfishing in these little creeks when you discover it.
good work.
Awesome footage of the beautiful Australian bush
Good to have you back, Scotty!
Merry Christmas Scotty! Cheers for the upload mate! favourite part of the country!
Good to see get away for a weekend . Wife and l got away ourselves this weekend nice to recharge ,
Great video as always Scotty, thank you 👏
Great video and very much enjoyed!
Enjoy your shows .
Hey, a Scottabout video. 👍 With more Ben music. I do believe Scotty has a man crush. LOL
Ben Jansz, is awesome. Who could blame anyone for liking such a talented musician.
@@scottculver yes, I watched a few of his videos on UA-cam. Super talented, and I hope Scotty can keep his relationship intact. The music fits so well with his adventures.
Hope that your safe down there brother! Thoughts and prayers and I hope to see you in a new video soon.
beautiful landscape, beautiful view, and awesome video. Like it man
Nice video man! Can recommend a flyfishingset, would be cool to sneak around that creek and land a trout or two. Best regards from Sweden!
Awesome!
Thanks for the video. Stay safe mate.
surprised it not burnt to a crisp, ,like the rest of Australia. the castle reference!!
one of the best quality channels i watch, a better video every time
So glad I found your channel. Fantastic content.
We have similar habitats, albeit drier, in the western United States: the high sedge meadows on the floodplains that remain relatively undisturbed. I didn't even know you could fish streams like that with a spin casting rig (not a fisherman) but friends were fly fishermen. They let me try it and I enjoyed it. They were all about sneaking up on the bank and would have avoided dark colors, big hats, or large backpacks. The way the landscape is inexorably worked upon by water gives all riparian areas a sort of feel of commonality. I just mentioned this on an English man's website, coincidentally. I love videos that show landscapes.
Geez I miss this stuff. The trout scene on my side of the country is pretty dismal. Thanks for taking me back to my teens. Bloody good video.
Amazing to have you back! My evening sorted when I get home from work!
Well done mate!...…...My fav so far.....beautiful scenery up there eh! Plus catchin fish.....who woulda thunk it......lol. Great job!
Great Video Thank you
Awesome to hear my cousins music
Brook Trout are a slender and elongated fish that generally resemble a Brown Trout in form. Brook Trout can be differentiated by their large mouth which extends beyond the level of the eye. They have an olive-green background body colour with pale, worm-like lines and spots. The pelvic, pectoral and anal fins are dark grey with a prominent white anterior margin. They look like Brook Trout due to the white margins on the fins.
Another great video. Big thumbs up...... Any chance of doing a short review of the cameras you use?
Love the grub mate
Another great video! I love your journey so much!
Awesome video, worth waiting for. Happy Holidays.
Long time follower, first time commenter! Absolutely love your work mate
Can you please do a video about the fire situation in Aus/NSW? Showing what is happening to this amazing part of the world. Or even when this season is over. You don’t have the biggest following, but I feel you would make a HUGE impact on UA-cam, you put things in a great perspective and show things how they really are. Keep it up 🤙🏻
Love your videos!
Good to see you back, I was wondering about the fires. My cousin had to leave their place. but didn't lose anything. Stunning country. Your videography is nice.. No wild critters Kangas ect.. Were some of the trees Ghost Gums.. Peace.
Great job Scotty. Nice little river. I haven't seen ants that bad either. I would have wet boots as well. Nice peanut recipe, I'll give that one a shot. Can't wait till the next one.
