I haven't been in a party with whom I could use a changeling effectively yet, sadly 😭 I'm currently playing a detective who has a detective identity and a criminal identity, hoping it's gonna make a difference this time (And hoping I can have fun with the shapeshifting once I don't have to worry about being discovered!)

When I said I hope she doesn't return to the show, because all of those "I'll attack her - no, wait, are you sure you don't want to hear even more of my character's background before you start playing again" moments were abysmal, both for D&D playing skills and narratively speaking... it's not mean, *it's a perfectly valid opinion,* and you should learn to respect other people's opinions. 🙂

I really liked this moment. Before, we'd only seen Ashton protective of FCG, but in this fight, he seemed pissed off at Birdie AND Yu's manipulations, and tolerated none of it.
The group have been together for almost as long as Ashton knew FCG for at the start of the campaign, and honestly it's been real nice seeing them open up more and show a little bit of a softer side
Ashton seems to have a real soft spot for Laudna too, especially in the Bassuras arc.
For someone who projects so much IDGAF he's actually very protective.

@@sandpiperr as someone who is a bit like Ashton, I am the same way. People who have been through some shit... we don't have many friends. We don't trust easily and it leaves our circle small. But those that are in our circle we will do anything for them. And I mean anything.
I like that no matter who it is, if you get too close to Laudna for her likings, then Ashton will get extremely protective of her.

That's not always a bad thing. Sometimes having a based, simple character is an anchor for some of the other unpredictability around them. Much like Grog in the first Campaign.
Didn’t say it was a bad thing. Grog was awesome and you could count on Travis to always be funny af
I want another character to call him out on it eventually, just for the sake of his own development. Experiencing loss doesn’t give a person some free pass to behave like a miserable prick for the rest of their life. Orym and Laudna have both literally died and had their loved ones murdered right in front of them, and you don’t hear them whining.

Imagine one day a character gets isolated and knocked unconscious just before the cut to break.
Then after Erika's just sitting in that players spot, playing that character and not a single person at the table acknowledges it
If erika doesnt come back at some point as a guest and plays.... just another character... a nice wizard guy or something.... just.... you know.... as a guest ..... without any intentions....

I kind of think your projecting. If he had a problem with her, she wouldn't have been on the show. Erikas a high energy person but you hear nothing but love from the people that work with her.

Same here. Dusk was kinda fun but messing with couples was not okay in my book. Yuu on the other hand was crazy manipulative both to the characters and the players. Fun but a little uncomfortable, even as a viewer
Yeah. Dusk/Yu served their purpose...but I was glad to see them go. They're good only in small doses.
It's frustrating how deep I had to roll in the comments to find *this* take: someone simply saying 'this subject matter made me uncomfortable', which is perfectly fine! Fiction will do that sometimes, God knows. But hell the difficulty so many peeps seem to have disliking a character for bad behavior, but appreciating the quality of the writing and the performance.

My only real critique in retrospect was how willing the main cast was to let Dusk/Yuu go despite having been much harder on NPCs who’ve done less 😅

What's really hilarious to me is in L.A. By Night, Tal plays Erika's Vampire Sire and they have almost this exact relationship, Tal done with her shit and Erika calling him "Vamp Daddy" to piss him off.

After watching the recent episode, I'm starting to wonder if Dusk/Yu was actually right about Birdie and Ollie

Like who in the hell trades their own kid to a hag in the woods for a fucking favor and lets the kid go on thinking that the hag is her fucking grandmother?
They didn't trade her for a favor though, Birdie was "friends" with the hag, the are both fey creatures, and Fearne was very young. Could be wrong but her story adds up to me (PCs make weird decisions all the time for the "greater good" or to "save the world", too). I wonder about Iras intentions and allegiances though.

At the end of it, it did feel like the take away was that Birdie and Ollie did unwittingly agree to a Hag's "special offer". At least Fearne seemed to believe so.
Which, to address @Death by konami, to be fair, an Archfey-grade Hag (I mean... "spinster of fate"? Not your run of the mill Crone) should have no difficulty in suckering 2 idiots.

And what about their reproduction? Fearne is 112 and not elven like her father, besides the whole point of hag reproduction is they don't want to raise their children (no idea why she took in Fearne).

Point 1: adressed to you. When you argued that Birdie being friends with Mori meant that there was no "deal" but just an understanding between friends. I replied that the moment when Ollie and Birdie have a dread filled reaction to Fearne's question, going so far as asking Ira's opinion, suggests otherwise. I think a deal was made. And that they didn't even realize it.
Point 2: adressed to @Death by longname. He postulates that: " parents that sell their kids for favors are evil. Ollie and Birdie did so they're evil. Hence Yu the was right".
I *disagreed* with that opinion by stating that they're not evil, merely idiots that got suckered by a magical conman. Not heartless parents that sold their soul for power.
Their being a threat comes from their very whimsical nature, not from their intentions. Like Yu. Like any Fey for that matter.
So, in that sense, Yu was wrong. They're no more evil than Yu.
Finaly, the teasing...Hags reproduce in various way. The classical, "changeling" scenario, or by making other beings evolve into new Hags.
A being can be "Hagified" through many ways. But a "typical" way is that of parents giving away their child (for various reasons). Said child is then raised by the Hag. Empowered by it (fun fact: Druidic Magic and Hag magic are very similar). Until, eventually, once their magical powers mature, they transform into a new, full fledged Hag.
