I honestly thought the Tomb Raider Trilogy from Crystal Dynamics was actually good. Hell I own all three Tomb Raider games. The blame of their downturn goes to Square Enix for selling them off to pursue NFTs and Embracer Group for being on a buying spree and not having enough money to cover their purchases.
As a fan of the Japanese side of Square Enix I wanted nothing more than for them to sell off their western IPs for years, in fact for a time I called their western IPs “Eidos Trash” Then I found out Embracer cancelled a new Deus Ex title, AKA one of the few Eidos franchises I liked (I’m also into Hitman now, I wasn’t that harsh to them, mainly since Square dropped IO and the Hitman IP) Now I actually WISH they didn’t sell them off
Honestly, we’re lucky we even got RDR2 and that’s largely because Dan Houser literally told TakeTwo to eff off and let his team work. One of the reasons why he left in the first place

The closure of Tango Gameworks hits me hard on a deeper level. As a die hard Resident Evil fan, I loved The Evil Within games and was hoping to get my hands on the sequel (The Evil Within 3) after like 8 years since the last game, but now, I don't think the franchise will ever continue on. Rest in peace Tango and The Evil Within. You died a hero and will not be forgotten.
Scarlet and Violet may be buggy as hell, but they weren't bad games. Good story, refreshing gameplay, and solid DLC made these some of the best games in the series. It's like Watchmojo never plays the games they like to criticize so much.
Yeah, I'll agree. The feeling of an entirely open map (outside a few zones), the depth of optional interactions with the school, and _that ending_ were pretty darn good, but ... the lack of technical polish just cannot be denied. Feels like all the polish went to Legends Arceus before it. Some of my favorite tiny details: - Groups of Litleo always spawn with one Pyroar, and groups of Pyroar are always several females with one male. - During stormy weather, lightweight Pokemon (Hoppips, etc) will actually blow away in the wind. - Zorua and Ditto always appear disguised as other Pokemon.

Why is Bandai Namco on the list? I understand the rest because I’ve heard all of the stories of production nightmares that these companies did that made most of their games a disasters, but what did Bandai Namco do that was bad?

The Company was under fire for using AI instead of actual English Voice Actors in order to cut corners into getting the game out the door & it didn't pan out well on top of a short-ass story & bad Online. Tekken 8 shot themselves in the foot with the useless In-Game Currency & a Battle Pass [Yea... Ik Capcom did this but at least Capcom dodged bullets in making the game more accessible]. Plus the company Lost over 8 Billion Yen [$51 Million in USD] up to the point where the Online Division Filed for Bankruptcy 2 weeks ago
Rockstar Games. Putting GTA V on 3 generations of consoles in a row, milking Online for over a decade, outsourcing the GTA Trilogy to a studio who had no clue what they were doing, and abandoning Red Dead Online

It’s really sad what happened to Konami, deciding to be just a gambling company rather than create anymore real games. Having seen MGS3, Silent Hill 2 & 3 and especially Castlevania SotN those games are some of the greatest I’ve ever seen with art style, story and concepts.
I really think that squares biggest issue is that their expectations for their games tends to be unrealistic at times and even games like the final fantasy remake and final fantasy rebirth which sold tremendously they decided was not enough money for them and I truly believe the biggest problem is that they're trying too hard to make money instead of spending money to make good games and worse just doing like too many of these studios and booting smaller studios rather than allowing them the chance to make them a profit because them booting crystal dynamics was still to me a very big mistake
That's part of their problem. Almost every game they put out fails to meet their expectations. But...what are their expectations? How much money are they spending on development? A lot of questions we don't have answers to, unfortunately. It doesn't help that they release so many similar games within weeks of each other.
Honestly most of these did this to themselves regardless of whether they are owned by corprations or not like Bioware for example. If everything had played out exactly the same with all of their games successful or failure would the company have survived without EA bailng them out financially? As far GameFreak goes. I think Dexit was going to happen any as they were already testing a dex cut as early as Gen 5 with the first Black and White game being new only Pokemon during the main story. So it wasn't surprising that Gen 8 did a dex cut. Graphics were another complaint cropping around Black and White with a small vocal minority saying that GameFreak needed to take Pokémon into the 3D age to compete with Xbox and Playstation and they did with and X/Y, Sun and Moon, and the Ultra Sun and Moon and people still complain. Now I guess the complaint is Pokemon isn't violent enough.

Rockstar should definitely be on this list. They completely abandoned their fans and legacy just so that they can milk GTA online. They disgraced the GTA trilogy with the disaster of a "definitive edition". They had so many single player games but clearly shifted away from that business model. It's very obvious that GTA 6 production is so long, because they are designing the world/mechanics in such a way that they can implement an online component that can be milked for another 15 years. Sony too, because well... arrogant Sony is back.
You could replace Crystal Dynamics with Bandai Namco in this list. Oh sure Limited Run and Game Freak[which should really be Pokémon Company themselves] have done terrible things but Bandai Namco takes the crap due to adding microtransactions to Tekken 8 post launch, ignoring and disrespecting legacy IPs like Digmon[except for producing only a few cards and figures], Soul Calibur, Ridge Racer, etc, and terrible Anime Arena Fighters among other issues. “But Elden Ring and Dark Souls” Those were developed by FromSoftware who are a good studio and actually deserve their flowers.

Once you play the original Tomb Raider trilogy, You will get to tell and even feel the difference between the original and reboot versions. And I always loved the original Tomb Raider more than the reboot.
@@jeuryrabassa4724agreed and I think their comment mainly stems from the fact that Crystal Dynamics is a super petty company and have a tendency to act all high and mighty which is why most of the Tomb Raider fan base can’t stand them. A great example was when Tomb Raider Anniversary was first dropping and Core Design (the original creators of Tomb Raider) made their own pitch of the game and Crystal Dynamics heard of this and made their own pitch behind Core’s back and one of the employees posted on a now deleted blog thread basically saying that all of the people at Core were idiots for thinking that their pitch even had a shot of even being picked up.
Its a shame watching two companies who hold some of the video game IP that I've held most dear for decades (Konami & Square) provide almost nothing of quality for the fans of those IP. At least Capcom has gotten its act together in recent years, the companies should look towards them as an example of how to get back on the right track. It didn't happen overnight, it started with Resident Evil 7 and they've continued to earn back my trust one game and one decision at a time ever since.

I 100% agree with Crystal Dynamics as they’ve always acted like they were high and mighty and they have a track record of trying to sabotage anyone else who tries to handle the Tomb Raider IP cuz they did it when Core Design (the original makers of the series) made their own pitch for Tomb Raider Anniversary and they heard about this and immediately got to work on making their own pitch and one of the workers on Anniversary basically called Core idiots for even making the pitch in the first place. More recently they did it with Aspyr for the Remaster collection when they put that warning message in. They are also known to be difficult to work with as well cuz they have also made people from The Initiative (the company they’re working with on the Perfect Dark Reboot) leave the company as well due to how domineering their presence is on the project with them wanting to control every little thing.

The thing I hate about game companies these days. When it comes to fighting games I care more about the graphics then the actual gameplay and game modes.
In case you haven’t heard. Suicide Squad bring the Justice League back including Arkham Batman. Starting off with the Flash in season 2. Not only that Rocksteady already pitching a new single player game hoping to bring Rocksteady back to its roots after what Sefton Hill Did.
Actually enjoyed playing the last three Tomb Raider games. Because I always come up with inventive ways to finish off the enemies. Plus also they made her more of a badass

I think Game Freak's problem is that they are rushing their games and it shows. Arceus still seems a bit dated though. 4:35 What is wrong with their faces? My face is tired. I don't think Bioware will win another Game of the Year anytime soon if ever. Why the hell would you double down on live service if it clearly didn't work? At least I won't be buying games from Warner Bros anytime soon. I didn't know Limited Run Games qualified for this list. It sucks ordering a game from them and possibly forgetting that you ordered it. Waiting a year for delivery is stupid. Why is it taking so long? Honestly didn't have a problem with SS:KTJL. I thought it was pretty fun to play, but overtime it just got to repetitive and then the DLC dropped and thats when I realized how bad WB/RockSteady had gotten.. Now they're coming out with a NEW Arkham game for VR...like what the fuck is going on over there? Somebody needs to call and check on them!!
I'm with you. I personally enjoy Suicide Squad for its gameplay, but the post-launch stuff is doing very little to keep me going. I've even been hoarding currency just because I don't see the point in buying weapons and upgrades when the weapons I get from missions are already good enough. Its gotten very confusing.
I have to say BioWare doesn't count. As all the soul from the ones who gave us the great titles are LONG gone before their fall from grace. The people who gave us Knights of the Old Republic left when EA bought them in 2007. Then the people who worked on Mass Effect up to 3 left by mid 2013. These days it is just another EA studio that was gutted by their practices. Blizzard is in a similar position. When they joint with Activision it is like they were poisoned and have never recovered. I'd also never say Activision was ever a 'good studio' as they've been known to be rather scummy from their earliest years. More or less after Kotick bought them and they entered the 2000s they really lost sight of why they formed as a company, and sort of became the very thing they hated. Also....Xbox has not changed a bit. They've always been part of Microsoft, and they've been using the same playbook for decades.
EA sports. & 2K sports lost their way. Because they haven't made great sports games since the 2000's. EA lost their way because of the failure of battlefield 1 & 2042 & some other games. Even Activision blizzard lost their way because of the failure of the call of duty series. Expected to be unexpected if black ops 6 Will be a failure & a disappointment of this year. Also expect if call of duty 2025 will be a failure. When there's one better game will sell better than call of duty 2025

I agree on the Tomb Raider trilogy. Before I played The Last of Us back in 2013, I figured Tomb Raider would be game-of-the-year.

Bandai Namco is doing good. Sure they made some mistakes, but they’ve learned and made some better games.

You will get to tell and even feel the difference between the original and reboot versions.

@@jeuryrabassa4724agreed and I think their comment mainly stems from the fact that Crystal Dynamics is a super petty company and have a tendency to act all high and mighty which is why most of the Tomb Raider fan base can’t stand them. A great example was when Tomb Raider Anniversary was first dropping and Core Design (the original creators of Tomb Raider) made their own pitch of the game and Crystal Dynamics heard of this and made their own pitch behind Core’s back and one of the employees posted on a now deleted blog thread basically saying that all of the people at Core were idiots for thinking that their pitch even had a shot of even being picked up.
Its a shame watching two companies who hold some of the video game IP that I've held most dear for decades (Konami & Square) provide almost nothing of quality for the fans of those IP. At least Capcom has gotten its act together in recent years, the companies should look towards them as an example of how to get back on the right track. It didn't happen overnight, it started with Resident Evil 7 and they've continued to earn back my trust one game and one decision at a time ever since.
Thankfully, things can still turn around for these companies, I mean their's still time for them to do so.

Gotham Knights was a good game. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League that was a train-wreck on every level.
EA and 2K are two companies that come to mind. All they care about is microtransactions.

I 100% agree with Crystal Dynamics as they’ve always acted like they were high and mighty and they have a track record of trying to sabotage anyone else who tries to handle the Tomb Raider IP cuz they did it when Core Design (the original makers of the series) made their own pitch for Tomb Raider Anniversary and they heard about this and immediately got to work on making their own pitch and one of the workers on Anniversary basically called Core idiots for even making the pitch in the first place. More recently they did it with Aspyr for the Remaster collection when they put that warning message in. They are also known to be difficult to work with as well cuz they have also made people from The Initiative (the company they’re working with on the Perfect Dark Reboot) leave the company as well due to how domineering their presence is on the project with them wanting to control every little thing.

The thing I hate about game companies these days. When it comes to fighting games I care more about the graphics then the actual gameplay and game modes.

In case you haven’t heard. Suicide Squad bring the Justice League back including Arkham Batman. Starting off with the Flash in season 2. Not only that Rocksteady already pitching a new single player game hoping to bring Rocksteady back to its roots after what Sefton Hill Did.

I didn't know Limited Run Games qualified for this list. It sucks ordering a game from them and possibly forgetting that you ordered it. Waiting a year for delivery is stupid. Why is it taking so long? I'm not going to buy games from them if they are sticking their thumbs up their asses instead of delivering games in reasonable amount of time.
I don't think Konami is going to recover since they stopped making Castlevania and turned it into a pachinko machine. I noticed one of their pachinko games took a more sexual approach. I'd like to see an actual game made from that. I'm not against a sexualized version of Castlevania. There are hentai games that did that already.

Honestly didn't have a problem with SS:KTJL. I thought it was pretty fun to play, but overtime it just got to repetitive and then the DLC dropped and thats when I realized how bad WB/RockSteady had gotten.. Now they're coming out with a NEW Arkham game for VR...like what the fuck is going on over there? Somebody needs to call and check on them!!

I'm with you. I personally enjoy Suicide Squad for its gameplay, but the post-launch stuff is doing very little to keep me going. I've even been hoarding currency just because I don't see the point in buying weapons and upgrades when the weapons I get from missions are already good enough. Its gotten very confusing.
The Tomb Raider Trilogy is goated i often find them being constantly on these types of list which is complete bs.
I have to say BioWare doesn't count. As all the soul from the ones who gave us the great titles are LONG gone before their fall from grace.
The people who gave us Knights of the Old Republic left when EA bought them in 2007.
Then the people who worked on Mass Effect up to 3 left by mid 2013.
These days it is just another EA studio that was gutted by their practices.
Blizzard is in a similar position. When they joint with Activision it is like they were poisoned and have never recovered.
I'd also never say Activision was ever a 'good studio' as they've been known to be rather scummy from their earliest years. More or less after Kotick bought them and they entered the 2000s they really lost sight of why they formed as a company, and sort of became the very thing they hated.
Also....Xbox has not changed a bit. They've always been part of Microsoft, and they've been using the same playbook for decades.

EA sports. & 2K sports lost their way. Because they haven't made great sports games since the 2000's. EA lost their way because of the failure of battlefield 1 & 2042 & some other games. Even Activision blizzard lost their way because of the failure of the call of duty series. Expected to be unexpected if black ops 6 Will be a failure & a disappointment of this year. Also expect if call of duty 2025 will be a failure. When there's one better game will sell better than call of duty 2025
GameFreak hasn't lost their way. They are still a good company. And no, Legends Arceus was garbage. Pokemon games are not suppose to be action RPG.
