This place is great, I love it. I liked the uranium vases quite a bit, I find it interesting that in today's world everyone is crying about the lead in the paint, uranium in the kitchen wares and how bad it is for their health. But as a child of the 60's I grew up with all that stuff and survived drinking out of the hose in the yard. lol. Thanks for sharing and have a great day
You may not find tons of bargains, but there's sleepers and people discounting, and there's also the nice aspect of not having to look past booths full of baby clothes and broken down electronics to find the old stuff
My high school parking lot in 1970 actually had a couple of student driven Studebakers and yes, Karmann Ghias, Nash, Ramblers, and the Classic VWs. It wasn’t about being classic car driven, it was about affordability and easy to work on and keep on the road. My 65’ Chevy Bel Air cost $500, much less than the insurance for a male teenage driver’s yearly premium.
That's right, I bought my first Lark in college because it was cheap and economical I think I paid $800. It was already old enough to be a 'classic' (25+ years) then!
George, outstanding information on the pieces at the fair. Really enjoy you. So many things to see besides the items you’re speaking about. Thank you for the video. Be safe Mr. George. 👍🏻😊
Thanks! I might go back if we start to run low in material and voice over old videos pointing out different stuff. I’ve got plenty more new footage in the meantime so see you again this week!
Hi George, love your videos. You know your stuff well! Looking at Renninger's brought back lots of old memories. Back in the early 80s I used to do all 3 of extravaganzas. They were awesome back then and with so much great stuff and usually 1500-2000 dealers. I don't do shows anymore but run a shop on Etsy.
@@TheAntiqueNomad We used to go to Renninger's once a month with an empty car and buy clocks until the car was stuffed! Loved the Extravaganza's! And the root beer shaved ice!
Paisley shawls are interesting They were wool shawls produced in and around the town of Paisley in Scotland and then the Indian export market started up (part of the British Empire) They copied the designs and produced things much more cheaply, basically undercutting the work produced in Paisley causing severe unemployment . Queen Victoria was touched by the plight of the Paisley workers and showed her support by always wearing Paisley produced shawls - and so of course they became popular and highly fashionable
That's great information! I love sharing my knowledge because it encourages people like you to teach me more. This was an explanation of the popularity of Paisley shawls I never had heard but will commit to memory.
To elaborate slightly, the motif did come from Iran originally and exports to the U.K. with the design came to the U.K. from Kashmir of high quality shawls, but the weavers in Paisley caught on to the design and individual weavers in their homes started producing shawls initially. As demand increased they banded together to improve production and shawls were produced there for approx 50 years. Some say that there were many reasons for the demise of the popularity of the design. Cheap imports of cotton rather than wool shawls, the Franco Prussian war interrupted imports from Kashmir , and that fashions changed and that it didn’t drape as well over a bussell. But the documentary I saw dealt with cheap imports and Victoria’s support

I was supposed to be the appraiser at New Harmony's annual show this weekend, but it's cancelled. Next year, I hope! Cindy and her husband were very nice when I visited, I met them through Periscope but need to go do a UA-cam of that town
Whatttt??! Cannot believe you just gave a lesson on the lady head prints ( nagal ) I had one very similar to that one in the 90s . Not sure what became of it but I was recently trying to refind it and see if they were still around. And just to learn more Abt them. Funny to find this .
Agreed, for too long UA-cam videos have clued thrift stores in on the value of items so now you pay more, or the items are going online where everyone can bid against you. I choose to go to antique malls where many are willing to give you a discount if you are a repeat customer. The great finds are now at the antique malls or large antique stores.

Prices can fluctuate between similar items because of minor differences that might be hard to tell without study. We had an estate sale with a book that in blue cover was worth $10 but in orange $500, for example. It can also be that circumstances were different, I sold a Treasure Craft pitcher once for $140 that usually only goes for $50 on eBay, just because two people needed it in time for Thanksgiving. The next week, the next one sold for $51 again.
What would you say the brass table outside is worth? Way back when- we had one and sold it at a yard sale and now regret it💔 We sold it for I think $30
Hi there! The big ones go for around $135 now where I sell. I used to pass them up but I’ve gained new appreciation because they’re great for storing and then using portably as needed
