Standard LED downgrade project. Replace sodium lights that haven't been cleaned in 50 years, fixtures that have literal piles of dirt inside them. Everyone marvels at how much brighter it looks outside. Old sodium lights could of been replaced with new sodium lights for brighter streets and bigger energy savings than downgrading to LEDs. Is anyone competent at their job anymore?
What does the contractors being ‘competent’ have to do with installing LEDs? In Australia we don’t have many LED failures as ours are designed properly. I much prefer them and it’s not a downgrade as they do last.
@@lachlanslightsandfans A properly designed outdoor light fixture has a glare-mitigating lens using diffusing and or refracting materials, emits a spectrum ideal for human visibility and emits little light within spectrums that are biologically toxic to ecosystems at night. 99% of LED streetlights fail these 3 basic principles.
Clealy you haven’t looked into the LEDs we use in Australia as they don’t have this issue. They are designed with an acrylic diffuser which does not spread light upwards. They have a warranty of 5 years and last longer than 10. These are well designed and built and is the choice for many councils.
The LED should using a CCT of 2000K-3000K to prevent of light pollution and minimising blue light effect or badly of health impact
Great project working towards a greener future.
