How evil can you truly be in Fallout 4? Many people criticize Fallout 4 for a lack of choices, but I wanted to put that to the test. And while it might not have as much player agency as earlier games in the franchise, there is still a surprising amount of latitude you have to influence the future of the Commonwealth.
But we if we unleash a despicable evil man into the Wasteland? Well that’s what we’re going to do today.
In this video, we’re going to explore every bad choice you can make in Fallout 4.

I played as a cannibal and used Preston as my source of info of where to get food. I'd go on his "go help people" missions, kill them all and eat them, and then return to Preston to tell them they all died. He never stopped sending me out to people.

Recently one of the Fallout 4 devs said that Nate was in Fallout 1. When they show the news broadcast of soldiers in power armour shooting a bound unarmed Canadian protester in the back. Nate is apparently the soldier laughing. So this might be the most lore accurate Nate ever 😂

Honestly, the Vault 81 quest always got me a bit mad. They call you selfish and whatnot, but not a single one of them will risk their own lives to save Austin. Nah, just get the expendable wastelander to do all the dirty work, and then shun him when he doesn't just give you the cure for free. It's bad writing like that that really makes me dislike Bethesda games.

I do disagree with the Lorenzo thing because if you free him you encounter him later having massacred a bunch of settlers so he could study them.
I killed literally every body in DC Blues but I didn't kill Colletee do could keep my trade open in DC. Quite literally snuck around like an assassin with my hushed 10mm and killed all NPCs involved. Wound up in almost every home in DC before I was done lol
Not to mention that Jack confirms that Lorenzo was locked there since well before the Great War due to being a mass killer and was placed there due to insanity
My first play through I betrayed everyone, join the institute and betray them in the last minute to the brotherhood, and killed the Railroad too, then I betrayed the Brotherhood and took out the Prydwen with the Minutemen, then I join the Nukaworld Raiders and betrayed the Minutemen, then I killed off the Raiders
That sounds like a serious case of *Too much effort put into a game with mediocre writing at best* to me.

Like why the f*** is Father going to pull out a comically long bad list of things he's done to convince his parent to side with them ? He tries to manipulate his parent cause he is evil and doesn't care about them. These types praise The Master and his FEV plan and yet hate on The Institute and their plans to use Synths in the same way The Master used Mutants to overcome the world, but also for world peace since the people and the old world are a dead end to Father and his people.
@@Deadsea_1993 To be fair the writing itself isn't the biggest problem but they choose to voice the MC, that's not just a minor issue to ruin the roleplay, think of it as the reason why there are always 4 choices of dialogue, and usually they don't matter as much as they do in NV mainly because a voiced MC will require a fuckton of recording comparing to a none voice MC, and let alone both a male and female, although Mass Effect works mainly because it's not open world RPG and there isn't that much dialogue in a pure adventure games

Note for anybody wanting to do this:
At Abernathy farm, if you continue to talk to Blake, you'll get a dialogue option to straight up say his daughter DESERVED to die.
Note 2: You can actually skip settlement quests by killing the settlers at the settlements Preston sends you to, which unlocks a dialogue option with Preston where you tell him they didn't want to join, and progresses the questline.
minutmen being the yes man faction can be easily exploited like that lol
I did something similar, I got so tired of being sent to Taffington Boat House, I killed all the settlers and shut off the beacon and told Preston The Gunners succeeded.

Diamond City Blues is like a Fallout New Vegas Quest put into a Bethesda game. Like it's not even that good but it's head and shoulders above most of the quests in Fallout 4. So many outcomes. I wish more quests had that
That's what separated FO4 from New Vegas, and that's why 76 bears SO MANY similarities to NV in its mechanics as much as no one wants to mention it

Personally, I think yoy messed up on the rogue Institute scientists. The more fucked up thing to do would be to talk them down, and then asked how to punish them, you can choose to have them executed. Its like giving them hope and then crushing it instantly.

It has the same vibes as telling the Nuka raiders to get a gang together to clear a settlement. If the game fully let you commit to this play style it could be fun in a messed up way but it’s not consistent.

I feel like no matter the playthrough, when you reach the Silver Shroud mission, you just have to wear the costume.
The Silver Shroud costume is a must for The Mechanist confrontation. Recently did it on a survival play through, missed my armour and everything but nothing stops the Silver Shroud.
That costume is my favorite in EVERY playthrough I do. To me it's a must have. You can't look more cool when stepping out of power armor than when you are in that costume. Especially when you get the right set of shades to go with it.
Don't know if anyone else mentioned it but you can skip the Corvega mission by putting a cap in the quest giver's head and returning to Preston. It bypasses the quest completely without any sort of consequence.

Sadly the problem with Fallout 4 choices is that they have little to no actual impact on the story at all. Unlike all the other fallout titles, doing every bad choice vs every good choice leads to the same ending in Fallout 4.
I like to play The Trash Man. A super hero that shoots trash at his enemies too save the day. It is now canon that you can kill children in fallout 4. Being the bad guy is fun too.
I admire Big Mongo moral fiber to not crossing the line and indulging into cannibalisms. Even my good alined characters can't resist chomping on raider flesh for that extra protein source (I particularly enjoy the irony it gives the silver shroud. Touting on about being hungry for JUSTICE, and taking a bite out of crime.)
... Or maybe that's a YT algorithm issue.

Pretty sure if you sided with the brotherhood and destroyed the institute, Shaun goes to the Prydwen. From there if you wanted to blow him up just rain artillery from the Castle and that should kill him 😂
You have a bit less "choice" in Fallout 4 but you gain sooo much more than the earlier games. The gunplay, physics engine, graphics, crafting, settlement building,I could go on forever about what a great game it is but I can never make the "evil" choices coz I feel bad, about characters in a computer game 😅

You actually CAN skip the Corvega mission. Head up to Tenpines and kill the settlers. Quest failed, but now that settlement is yours. And claiming that settlement is all Preston wanted. See, just when you thought you were being evil, Preston's over here going, "Ya gaddam amateur."
One thing I like about Fallout 4 is without a karma system there is no set "good" or "bad" decisions. Just like the thing with Lorenzo, there is an argument to be made that he isn't as evil as Jack and the rest of the family.
the true evil choice, 18:20, would be to let him live, now paranoid & now suicidal. Makes him get the courage to do it himself and come back in a week and see him dead.

I'd argue that killing Gabriel might be the more merciful, and thus "good" choice. I mean he's a raider boss so killing him already isn't nefarious if he was a normal guy, but his options there are to either just die, or do be incapacitated, have his entire memory and personality wiped away, and then mentally reprogrammed into servitude in a life that is basically just slavery. I usually go for mercy killing him in the mission as a mercy tbh

If you take and max out the Ghoulish perk early (before lv 18) - it opens a lot of different options, best is that Ghouls will ally with you
I feel like it would have been more evil to support the Railroad, Brotherhood, and Institute untill the Battle of Bunker Hill quest. then you do the Railroad quest to take out the Brotherhood, THEN take out the Railroad for the Institute
Weirdly enough, that's how my "good guy" play through went. I was roleplaying as a man very torn up between supporting his son and supporting the synths. He joined the Railroad as soon as he met them because he believed synths should have human rights. He didn't like the Brotherhood for their blatant racism towards synths, ghouls, and everything else. So, he defeated the Brotherhood with the Railroad.
I progressed both the Railroad and Institute plotlines as far as I could until I had to make a choice to destroy the Institute or the Railroad. Although my character disagreed with what the Institute did, it just made more logical sense to side with them, since he knew he would get to take over the organization after the death of his son. It hurt him to betray the Railroad friends he had grown close to and eliminated the Brotherhood with, but it had to be done. I love this ending because although it's a bit anticlimactic in terms of action, it feels like such a morally challenging decision. Shaun died happy, and the ending suggests that my protagonist may be able to make the Institute a better place in the future, but he definitely lost a bit of himself when he killed his friends in the Railroad.
Goes to show that what might seem like "the worst choice" is pretty subjective depending on how you play.

Also, at 18:30, wouldn't it be more evil to walk away instead of killing him like he asks you? Inform him that he'll likely suffer a fate worse than death; he asks you to mercy-kill him; you turn around and leave him in a horrible dilemma, alone.

The Virgil quest reminds me of a crime show (can't remember which) where in one episode a rich guy working closely with AI training and neural replication tech was found dead and they suspected murder until they discovered that he'd had a degenerative neural disease and had rigged up a poison gas system in his house's ventilation (he lived alone) set to trigger if he failed a puzzle lock on his PC, where literally if his mind degenerated to the point where he would fail that puzzle he was noping out and he hadn't told anyone in advance.

After doing the raider thing in nuka world, you can actually wipe out most of the minutemen including garvy which is pretty evil But you gotta get the citidel all cleaned up and unlocked for the lady to show up and replace garvy as the minutemen leader I think. I hope the next fallout tweaks the value of caps. It's very immersion breaking when someone offers you 200 caps to off somebody, like that's a completely legitimate offer. With the expenses of everything else considered, I think it would be more like $2,000 caps. 200 caps don't even get you a decent weapon, LOL

34:50 i had that bug too, the best way to solve is just press "esc" than "esc" again, that right, it works for me. it also works when u use a terminal to unlock a door, but even after u alreday unlock it doesnt open.

I somehow locked the game during Nuclear Option. MM ending.
I could enter the Institute. At the fountian area. But the elevator to the Teleport room was locked out.
I met Father. And no other NPC's spawned.
I tried to reload the save. But autosaves were too recent.
4 days of helping settlements, wasted.
Damn you, Preston.

Wouldn't freeing Lorenzo be a "worse" choice in this playthrough since it means all of the cabot family die, and the goal is to kill aa many as possible
The only games where I can 100% be evil are Bethesda games, their wirtting is so frustating there's something satisfying about being an ass or a total psycopath in these games
You dont need to complete corvega by the way. You can kill the settlers at tenpines bluff. Fails the quest but you can still be the general for some reason
