    I would have left the fraying off in the middle bits and that way no one can tell its a few put together. Would have glued the tassles underneath except for at each end. Other than that, good job! I have some 100 year old material gifted to me and I'm using it to yoga mats to thicken it up haha wish me luck xx

    You won me over with the paint. That was a beautiful addition to a great project. #WellDone

    I really like the result !..😄👍only thing I would have done was to iron the rugs first so the fabric laid flat for a neater look...but great idea..! (tbh I'd pressed the like button as soon as I saw your gorgeous cat climbing about on the rugs......😅😺)xx

    Love it. Im gonna try. I might try painting all the fringe black but just on the 2 ends. Keep the 2 lines on the middle fringe just like you did.

    I think removing the fringes of all but the beginning and end might have aided your "this is all one piece of carpet" aim. 🤗 You could also then (if you have the energy!) re-site that reclaimed fringing around the free side edges to help maintain the illusion of one complete runner. Another potential hack is to water down chalk paint (less stiff than acrylic) and put it in a squeezy craft bottle with a tapered metal nozzle - this helps you control the outflow of the paint more easily - _if_ you want a sharper line that is (you may not have wanted a precision line, but I thought I'd offer this tip just in case anyone reading this does!). That said, I think your painted, naturally uneven lines give this rug a lovely handmade, organic feel and your instinct to paint stripes to trick the eye is spot-on. I also like the addition of the rug pad to give a feeling of extra cushioning and quality underfoot.
    Have also just thought that some of that lovely bobble fringing might look cute along the free edges - again to maintain the 'one long runner illusion'. Did you know there's a fabulous 'heat-seal' carpet tape you can buy that joins even heavy rugs together? It's what professional carpet layers use when they have to join carpet. I've not tried it myself yet, but am about to have a go!
    Thanks for sharing your tips and letting us watch your process. It's easy for people like me to come along and offer refinements without having even made a video myself, but you're the one who's had to put yourself 'out there' publicly, and wait for the inevitable _"Here's what you should have done/this looks terrible"_ comments that accompany every video on YT. 🙄 Well done Meggie, and keep going! 🏆

      @@MessinwithMeggie My pleasure! A couple of months on and I'm making a mosaic carpet from small triangles of carpet and bonding with carpet tape - there's fluff _everywhere!_ 😂

    Curious if the hot glue stayed together over time? It has been awhile since you made it. Did the carpet stayed glued to the rug pad?

      Hi there! Thanks for watching! The hot glue has actually held up very well, especially for a high traffic area! :)

      Hi Heather! I treat this just like any other rug in my house that can't be put in the washing machine. I just spot clean it as needed! :)

    • @MessinwithMeggie
      @MessinwithMeggie  2 роки тому

      Hi CeCe! Because I glued the rug pad to the back of the rugs I only vacuum to clean it. If you want it to be washable I would recommend using washable fabric paint! 😊
