But then you have morons like these saying "oooh guess this is here to stay" llodra did it against roger, I'm sure karlovic has done it at some point as well. @adammarszalec9910 3 роки тому +11

      It does make sense. Getting coffee is a frivolous desire and can be in such situations regulated, but getting a physio is a necessity, something like going to the doctor. Yes, if we look at it as a single instance, it may not seem logical. But reasonable players will not normally ask for a physio just to make a point, but only when it is genuinely needed, which is less frequent, and less dependent on their whim than someone’s desire to get a drink. Hence, as a wide strategy of minimizing risk, it makes sense.

    • @colaboytje
      @colaboytje 3 роки тому +7

      @@adammarszalec9910 Well, in that way, it is indeed less risky. But then, why let them drink at all? ;-) It's not needed. They won't die.
      But seriously now: where do the other drinks come from then?
      And can he get a coffee after the match or before the match?
      Also: tennis is not needed at all during a pandemic.
      You can go into a rabbit hole on this subject:-)
      I'm all for safety, but it has to remain humane.

    • @adammarszalec9910
      @adammarszalec9910 3 роки тому +1

      @@colaboytje I agree, this is rabbit hole prone case. My answer to that would be that it’s easier to put there a bunch of plastic bottles of water or any other drink than have coffee machine on court. I suppose it’s considered a bare minimum to offer water and I, for one, would not say coffee is a normal thing to drink during a match (not to say no players at all do that). Tennis and other sports for professionals have remained opened, this seems to be common for many if not all countries. As I said, it’s not about trying to ban all contact, but to minimize it. So let me rephrase my argument. Supervisor had a good point, Nishioka, in my opinion, wasn’t right in claiming there is no merit to these rules. He could, though question supervisor’s actions on the basis of unfettering discretion which would acknowledge regulations, but say that in this instance, blind sticking to the rules is unreasonable. However, in my personal opinion, it is Nishioka that was at fault, because in case of covid, unfettering discretion does make a difference - it deters people who disregard the rules from exploiting them.

I think it’s also a bit like school teachers who are constantly punishing the bad kid in school even if he does something minuscule, but when the good kid does the same thing, it goes over the teacher’s head and they don’t notice it. I really think that the umpires are just not aware of their double standards sometimes

    • @MisterReZ
      @MisterReZ 3 роки тому +3

      @@HarryJohnson69 i agree with you. A simple curse directed to nobody shouldn't matter. Top umpiring from the chair in that best effort match. Fair enough she can’t see if it was in or out for sure so stays out of it, explains why, then has a brief and sure discussion about what’s gonna happen if he keeps hitting balls out, then explains it by reminding him that it’s her judgement on the warning if she gives it. Straight to the point, good to see a job well done for once by the chair in these videos.

      yeah that was really well done. She didn't outright accuse him of tanking but she stopped him from potentially doing it. Maybe gojo was just resting for the third set and conserving energy but he didn't realise how his actions might come across as.

    I don't understand...
    When everything is on TV why is ATP still want those umpires...
    We are not in 1960s or 70 s to rely on umpires..
    It's so hard to see the deserving loose the points.
    May be Novaks PTPA stemmed from this..
    ATP should really make the change ...
    Why on earth such injustice should happen?
    It's obvious in every match especially Paires match.
    He looks completely dejected.
